    In this video we're fiberglassing in the timber supports that run along the bottom of the boat hull. This will end up being supports for the cockpit deck and cabin floor. Thanks for watching! Thanks ‪@TotalBoat‬

    We just had a 35 ft. Houseboat sink in the lake here in east Tennessee after two back to back power storms with almost 60 mph winds ... I can't get into watching you work on boats, but I enjoy the cycles & 4 wheelers you fix up . And the times you spend with Jason & Danielle....

      Oday Mariners are fantastic little boats. I have a 67 almost identical to his "thunder road" boat. They have a decent size, and stabliltiy. And you can trailer them anywhere. Fixed up, they can go for a pretty penny, but if you are lucky enough to find one that needs work, watch this channel and you'll be able to do anything you need done. My boat is in the same shape of this one....literally. I am going to be ordering these 'timbers'/floor supports this friday.

      @@elliottscott6179 Awesome man! Mine is in just as bad as the "Number 11" of his. I have to redo the interior completely, and because some knuckle head left it tilted up, all the water stayed pooled from the mid section aft resulting in the support timbers to all be rotten. But I've been rebuilding boats my whole life so it's going to be fun. My boat is the only reason I found this channel. But am now a huge fan!

    I know nothing about boats. Was just curious what are the screws in some of the framing for? Great job love the content.

      The bolts are used to secure the "Fixed Keel" to the underside of the boat. On his other sailboat (just like mine) it has a "Swing Keel" that lifts up into a little pocket in the boat. The boat you see here has a fixed keel that is bolted to the underside of the boat. A Keel keeps the boat steady while sailing. It kinda acts a counter weight for the mast so the boat doesn't.... for a lack of better terms, Tip over. The Keel, is usually made of steel or lead. Hope this helps! (and give the vid a thumbs up would ya ;) )

    • @restrothunderroad
      @restrothunderroad  Před 4 měsíci

      They bolt into a big heavy metal fin (keel) that is under the boat that helps keep it upright while sailing. ⛵️🤙

    Hay Brandon, when you are working as to using the fiberglass and mixing the two parts. Does that get hot? Like using liquid metal when you mix the two parts together, the mix gets pretty hot, before it gets hardened up. Just Saying

    • @restrothunderroad
      @restrothunderroad  Před 4 měsíci

      It does, sometimes the paint rollers will start to smoke after about 30 mins of use. haha

  • @glenndavis479
    @glenndavis479 Před 4 měsíci

    Is there some reason you didn't run fillets where the beams meet the hull before you glassed them in , fiberglass doesn't like 45 degree folds and by not doing so you create a weak section that will crack with stress over time.

    • @restrothunderroad
      @restrothunderroad  Před 4 měsíci

      The timbers in the cockpit don't really provide any structural support for the hull, they're main purpose is to have a level deck once the floor boards are laid down so I didn't bother further strengthening them with filler. The timbers bolting into the keel however I will be going back and adding filler epoxy and more glass for added strength and support before bolting everything down.

    • @glenndavis479
      @glenndavis479 Před 4 měsíci

      @@restrothunderroad Yeah I would definitely do the keel bolt timbers.

      @@shanelawrence8969 Not sure your point. Brandon does great content. Pointing at things he’s talking about is ok, but the general “disembodied hand” when talking in general, isn’t needed. I believe he wants constructive criticism. Not sure how that is getting personal. Carry on!
