*_Bro I swear the whole planet was singing Live and Learn by the end_*
I was in Discord with a bunch of my buds watching it, each one of us fanboying over different sections. But my favorite moment has to be the aftermath, I opened Twitter and saw every single Sonic fan have fun, making memes, talk about their favorite parts, all-around positive energy and vibes.

  • @wanderlustwarrior

    It was so much fun:
To see the Sonic fandom finally be POSITIVE for once.
To see people in the chat share unabashed love for Endless Possibilities (from a game I never even played, but still brings a tear to my eye)
To have so much good music that I quickly got over feeling down about the lack of Advance/Rush music.
To have not just the orchestra concert, but the surprise rock concert after the intermission.
To know that this was part of a wave of Sonic news and releases that's still not over.

If there's one thing the Sonic fandom unanimously agrees on, it's that the music is the most consistently good part of this franchise.

Can I just say, it feels so incredibly weird to see SEGA themselves using a fanmade mod with credits to the creators in an official capacity like this. It feels crazy.
For those who don't know, the SA2 Chao Cam on the halftime part was made by a modder.

    • @JLuisJoni
      @JLuisJoni Před 3 lety +23

Katie from the Sonic Social Media team specifically wanted a Chao cam just for the concert, so they asked to use the mod for the occasion.

As stupid as this sounds, for a multitude of personal reasons, completely melted when Crush 40 started "I Am All of Me." This past 7 months leading up to that had been kind of a rollercoaster of emotions playing Shadow the Hedgehog for the first time and having just beaten it, it was kind of a cathartic moment (holy crap this sounds dumb saying out loud xD). I love seeing more people talk about this event. It got to me several times. I got choked up at the start of the Saturn melody, and when I finally recovered from Sunshine, NiGHTS heccing starts, and I was not prepared. And, it's weird, 'cause my love for that era of Sega, let alone that era of Sonic only really came around these past few years (Y'know, 'cause I wasn't even alive to have grown up with the Saturn), and yet, those 3 tunes hit me more than most of the songs I'm really nostalgic for. I kept it together somewhat decently after that, alibet getting choked up again by His World (By far the best version of it out there), and Endless Possibilities (Symphony version), but then y'get to the end, I'm pratically spent, and as soon as I think to myself, "Wait, they skipped SA2 in the Crush 40 section," Live and Learn starts. At that point, I'm in tears and hoping no one in the house hears me singing along. The whole time, I'm losing it in real time to my friends including the only other one who was just as hyped for this event, and it was just so surreal having a moment where just about everyone in the community came together in celebration.

The highlight for me had to be Crush 40. I've always wanted more than anything to see them live and as we all know, that's a rarity few have experienced. If it wasn't for Crush 40 and Sonic I probably never woulda gotten into rock music, mainly heavy metal and pop punk. So to see them kinda live and be able to sing along like I was actually there was... amazing.. I can only imagine how hype it would be to see them in the flesh.
Man, I owe a lot to Sonic and his music.
Hearing his world being played in the symphony was so emotional. Zebrahead are one of my favourite bands and I'm blessed to know them on a somewhat personal level, thanks to Sonic. Through them I've met bands like Patent Pending who actually knew who I was before I properly introduced myself 😂 stuff like that never woulda happened without Sonic.

The whole concert was great, Endless Possibility and Knight of the Wind were the ones that slammed me the most personally.
Also you give me that perspective of how diverse the fandom is. I was surprised and happy with the Saturn block being in there but I never had a Saturn, so naturally it floors you more than me. That's the cool part though, just about the whole fandom got moved to tears by different parts.

I absolutely cried during the concert. Me and a friend (who was also going though a rough day) cuddled and sang along. It was such a wonderful event.
Sonic may be defined in part by its numerous flaws, but if there's one thing it's always been good at, it's making me *feel* stuff. With very few exceptions, I've never felt apathy. I've felt joy, anger, excitement, sadness, loyalty, betrayal, reverence, disappointment, confusion, victorious, nostalgic, inspired, sometimes even schadenfreude, and so many other emotions, from this one franchise alone.
Another treat, for me anyway, was Masato Nakamura showing up during the break to talk about his experiences, and then to announce his band doing a full vocal cover of Green Hill. It's been released, so I recommend checking it out. It's pretty good.
I think the only very minor thing about the concert that I was very very slightly disappointed by was just that there wasn't anything from Sonic 3D Saturn, which is one of my favorite soundtracks in the series. I was kinda hoping for a rendition of Saturn Rusty Ruins. XD But it's okay, the show was still 10/10 for me.

Believe in Myself, It Doesn't Matter, i loved the references to the games and how they showed both Adventure 1 and 2 for some Tails moments. and don't even get me started when they played City Escape at the end, taking us (me, at least..) by surprise, and that last part when they played Live and Learn? that has to be one of the hardest times i ever got to sing the lyrics. i'm not exaggerating when i say that was one of the happiest days of this year. i'm so glad i've got to see that live stream, because it sure was an experience.

My ultimate highlight from the concert was the Mania medley. But less from the fact that it was mania, or that mania was an amazing game. Or that the music was amazing.
But the whole time im listening to the medley, im just enjoying the music, having a good time. Its great, its upbeat, its amazing.
But then Titanic Monarch kicks in. And thats when the tears actually come out. Studiopolis and Press Garden were fun. And really well performed. But Titanic Monarch was just *BEAUTIFUL*
And as im listening to it, i am reminded of how Tee Lopes composed it originally. Id been a fan of his for over 10 years. He is a long time fan who makes amazing stuff. And to have a whole professional orchestra do a fan, just like me, do their music that beautifully. It was beyond empowering man. I am incredibly proud of him, and all of us sonic fans who continue to make great things and support each other

For me, it was the Sonic Adventure parts, where with Tails' theme "Believe in myself' it transitioned from the SA1 version of the theme to the SA2 version. The other was "It doesn't matter", the orchestra went into a crescendo at one point, and went all out, and that made me feel so happy. It's like they did it for me.

Sonic jam got me crying since it’s my favorite collection. And it was really nice to see the game gear games like triple trouble. This was a great concert.

There is honoring the legacy of a character and there is rhis whole concert. Nuclear warheads for our hearts is the best way yo describe it.
Crush40 performance was downright empowering! Good God the passion and energy of that section!

That symphony brought back some very happy memories and I just kinda sat and said to myself "I miss playing Sonic Games." I haven't played one in so long. Sonic used to be my favorite game series of all time. Kingdom Hearts took its spot, but Sonic is still a close 2nd. I have never stopped loving that hedgehog. And I just wanna play more.

Finally got around to watching the concert, and I'm grateful to have not been spoiled about any of it beforehand because WOW.
I'm right there with you DiGi, I was watching the beginning of the concert in absolute bliss right from the get go, and when I heard that NiGHTS theme begin to swell, it was like a shot to the heart. I started crying right then and there, I couldn't believe what I was hearing, haha.
Other emotional points for me were that beautiful violin rendition of It Doesn't Matter from SA1 as that song has always had a special place in my heart, made me cry a good deal more lol.
Then right at the end, Live and Learn completely broke me. Not only is it my personal favorite and most nostalgic Crush 40 track, but there was something indescribably harmonious about watching Jun Senoue on his guitar, Johnny Gioeli singing as powerfully as ever, and an entire orchestra backing them up, all while the SA2 gameplay was playing on the screen behind them.
It made me step back and realize just how long of a ride it's been, and just how much pure emotion this series has and always will hold for me and so many others. Sonic 2 was the first video game I ever played and I've been loyal to the series ever since, even with its crazy ups and downs. But no matter what happens, no matter what changes in life, Sonic is like a childhood friend I can always count on to be there when I need some fun and happiness.
This concert reminded me exactly why I gravitated toward the character and the games at such a young age, it's really just like nothing else out there. I can't thank Sega and everyone involved with the production of the concert enough for bringing all of us such a stellar performance, and all for FREE, just to nail in that this is all to appreciate the support we'll always continue to show.
Here's to 30 more years, and hoping the next game will really be something special!

Thank you so much for your recommendation. I checked out the concert and it was absolutely amazing. I got teary eyed during the Classic section and was amazed by the references. I was so shocked and happy when Crush 40 played I Am and Sonic Heroes, along with Sonic Boom. The best part was definitely when the orchestra joined in for Escape From the City and Live and Learn!

I saw your channel update video and it deeply resonated with me because I also lost my grandmother this year and it has been the most emotionally taxing thing I've ever had to deal with. My grandmother to me served the same role as yours, she was a self sufficient, selfless caring person and losing that made me lose my sense of self. It seeped into my mental health and physical health...to cut it short I can say 2021 has been the worst year of my life so far....
But, when the sonic central happened and when the sonic symphony happened, it was one of the most exciting, happiness filled moments of the year for me. Just being able to get excited about another thing I hold near and dear to my heart and seeing whats next and looking back really really improved my mood during this long and arduous grieiving process and seeing other people get excited about it too....literally one of the best things ever now to me. Just watching someone be happy about something fills my heart with joy and heals my woes and sadness.
I'm taking life day by day, seeing where it takes me. Trying to keep my head up and stay as positive as I can and I jist wanted to say thank you for making this video and to keep being you

I loved it all, was blown away beginning to end!
My favourite part actually (at least the part that took me back) was on the Sonic Lost World section actually. It’s not my favourite game in the franchise but I do think it’s a little underrated. But I love Sea Bottom Segue, that level and the music is one of my favourite soundtracks in any Sonic game, so when they played that it actually made me a bit emotional. I thought for sure they would only play the main theme so when they started that it really hit me in the feels!
Loved everything about it though, Twitter during and after the event was something else, never before has it been so positive and everyone on a high!

I was just coming out of severe crunch on my project, days and days of 14 hours at the office when this came out.
I put it on and skipped to the start (it premiered at 2AM my time while I was asleep) and when the orchestra started, I welled up. I had to stop preparing for work and listen and allow the experience to fully take over.

First off, I now have tears in my dinner. I hope you're satisfied.
Secondly, I was at work when the concert went live. I was listening to it as I worked and thanking Chaos for not having anyone around at that time, because I was already tearing up and sobbing from Sonic 2, my first video game ever, thanks to my older brother, who had a Mega Drive.
When the NiGHTS theme dropped, I had to pause what I was doing. I laid my head on the table and started ugly crying like a child. I couldn't focus on anything else, my vision was blurry from the tears, so I couldn't see anything on the PC screen. I was shaking and weak. Thank goodness my shift was over by the time they hit the intermission, or I would have been a very useless worker for the rest of the day

I honestly love the concert, the classic stuff was great, hearing the green eye music was great
Then the lyrical songs: HOLY SHIT
    colors themes were great
The themes song by natewantstobattle were amazing
Crush 40, singing open your heart, heros, all of me, greenlight go
Finding out that knight of the wind being the singer's favorite song he made
... And just hearing live and learn was just amazing. Sega got us back and i hope the next game can as great or at least good as this concert
