Looking back on it and all of my current builds regardless of format, I run 1-2 icarus attack. Overall, GB is insane that it might be the best value deck of all time. Built in 2007 and have a top tier to best deck of all time type deck to nearly 2011. GB absolutely embody what Yugioh is about in the terms of setting cards, controlling, combos, utilizing extra deck, game mechanics for battle phase with a plethora of options of builds and supporting spell and traps. The decks available to a GB skeleton in my opinion with all of the above make this the greatest deck of all time.
Idk if you'll see this comment but one thing I can see with wing blast too is you can discard say a bestiari from hand with wing blast to say stop the prisma test tiger your turn slam down a cold wave summon any gb attack into the test tiger tag out into Darius bring back bestiari as long as they didn't draw the crow then you make gyzarus and pop 2 which puts you ahead
Do you consider this era(2008, pre TDGS) to be Gladiator Beasts at their peak power? I just find it crazy that they would go untouched by the September 2008 banlist, and also receive additional support in the form of Equeste, War Chariot, and Retiari before the March 2009 banlist limits Bestiari. You'd think that they'd become an unstoppable menace with the added support, but Tele-Dad really did stifle their potential, huh? What would an optimal Gladiator Beast deck in the Tele-DAD era look like? Would they continue to use Crush Card and a Dark monster package? Would they keep Prisma and his respective searchers? Would they embrace the new support? Maybe try Rescue Cat?
Good question. Not entirely sure if there was a specific reason. Maybe fear of Herakinlos? Not a great reason but I could sure see you try a few to counter CCV.
Looking back to this format, wouldn't it be valid to run/side deck Royal Opression? Having Heraklinos with Opression seems kinda OP, doesn't it? Or did some people actually do this back then? (I know your profiles are true to the format, so that is not why I am asking ;)) Also, before the re-ruling of Opression, could you use a facedown RO to immediately negate cards like PreBu, Monster Reborn, DimFu etc? I know you couldn't to that against inherent summons like DaD, but the aforementioned cards should be different, right?
@@YGOHistory Ah okay, really thought that RO worked when used as chain link 2, even before the ruling change. But I guess it is similar with Vanities Emptiness some years later: People didn't play it most of the time back then (e.g. DIno Rabbit/Wind-Up format), however, retrospectively, it definately would have been great =)
I’ve been collecting for basically 20 years and I very rarely moved from my personal collection. I picked most of my cards up for a fraction of their current price.
This series will quickly become the next biggest thing in yugitubing, mark my words Joe
That would really be something.
Woohoo!! It's GB time!!!
I loved Gladiator Beasts. My very first actual Competitive deck.
Aweseome!

Very valid opinion. It really did encapsulate a lot of skills from the game.
I wish I could give your comment a thousand likes.
Love this series! Played a ton from 2008-2013 and these episodes are super nostalgic & enjoyable, keep up the great work!
I have plenty more from that time period on the way!
This series just keeps getting better and better
Love to hear it!

I used to love playing this deck. Another great video Joe, keep up the good work.
Thanks! I enjoyed this deck as well!
Nice video, I'm playing tag force 3 and trying to understand this deck, this helped a lot.
Ahhhh I love your videos, soooo informative, thank you for the content :)
Love to hear it!
There was a point where i was jumping between Glad beasts and Heros 2013 format lol
Love this deck 😃 One of my favourites but could never find a 2008 profile
Well, you’re in the right place then!
beautiful deck joe
Thanks! I do not always get to bust out the Ultimate Test Tigers.
love the work
Much appreciated!
great video! thoughts on waboku in this format? chainable to cold wave and you could use it proactively with your own glads
It is just a liability in the mirror match.
Was the reasoning behind the Corn Monarch deck being a lot better after Nationals have to do with the Royal Oppression reruling in July 08?
It was fine at Nationals too. It was definitely better post Oppression ruling.

That is a good question. I think they'd want to max Cold Wave for sure. Tele-DAD only has a few ways of interacting without spells.
Why no proving grounds in the early days of GB?
Btw. what a beast of a series. Love it!

@@YGOHistory thanks, mate!
Dang I did not know that about Prisma Sangan CCV
That is what I am here for!

Nope. But that ruling changed immediately after nationals!
I think a lot of decks could have benefitted from Oppression before the ruling change.
