In a plethora of kidney-priced business/first class reviews, thank you Simply Aviation for reviewing what the vast majority of people actually fly!
Economy class reviews are out there, there are plenty of them, we're not short of them at all. Where Simply Aviation shines is they do it with nice imagery and narration.
@@magnustan841 12:15
If you know how to book them it's not that hard, get some credit card deals to rack up some miles and you can get them for free
Italy's flag carriers always collapse because nobody flies them. Domestically, everyone uses the very efficient, fast high-speed rail. International, there are usually better airlines to fly on. Nice review!
This is the exact reason why I don’t want rail coming to the us, it will destroy aviation and will not end well
@@maxsaviation9512 Why do you see flights getting replaced by an efficient rail system as a bad thing?
It's very interesting how different Italy is from the United States when it comes to rail versus Airline utilization. We often hear about how American Railways are underutilized because Americans prefer to travel by planes, however, in this case, it's the complete opposite for Italians.
@@maxsaviation9512 there's not gonna be a high speed rail from new york to san francisco, the us is 30x the size of italy. don't worry aviation in the us is not going anywhere
@@maxsaviation9512 It will not destroy aviation. Sure, it may lose some market share, but domestic travel is already pretty bad as it is.
Plus, most rail will most likely be intrastate and not interstate, except for the Northeast Corridor and its surrounding areas (which it already is anyways). For transcontinental trips, flights might still be done.
I was a fan of Alitalia, despite most people hated it, but haven't tried ITA yet. One of the reasons is as you pointed out in the video, the price could be ridiculously expensive for what is not (yet) recognised as a premium airlines.
I also noted that their Skyteam membership doesn't seem to be fully integrated in either case of being Volare member flying other member airlines or a member of other programmes flying on ITA flights.
nothing different actually, it's the same old Alitalia, maybe they have a few newer planes for long haul
That was an excellent video! Too many reviewers just complain.
You however identify weaknesses (even those where you “benefit” e.g. the beverage service) and provide well justified recommendations.
Completely agree! Simply Aviation has consistently balanced reviews, which is why I’m a loyal subscriber.
The reason why I enjoyed a lot Alitalia is because they treated every passenger really nicely and their food was really good. Plus they gave lots of snacks even in Economy, and their prices for intercontinental flights were really good. Never flew with Ita though (i am italian)
Then low cost arrived. Making people think you can fly for free. Now after 15 years of low cost hammering markets and passengers brains, prices (and profits margins) go up again to more than what they were 15 years ago, but service remains wonderfully low cost.
@@skfmtt
Not only that, but a ton of other factors too… Inflation/the global economy, COVID, fluctuations in oil prices, etc etc
I would love Starlux Airlines to be covered soon! They stand out from other airline startups in that they are offering luxury and a premium offering for the middle class. I've seen a few economy and business reviews of them already, but I'd love to see one in Simply Aviation style.
Yeah I would like to see that soon on the channel
Regarding the Alitalia uniforms, new ITA’s uniforms should start coming in during April. They are currently being delivered by the supplier!
Fyi the new uniforms are live starting today! :)
I am not too fond of that white livery on that specific aircraft but, your commentary fully explains the reason why it exists. I do love ITA's blue livery. I find it stunning!
I remember eating cannelloni at a local restaurant in Rome a few years ago but it contained spinach and ricotta and tomato sauce - That’s how the original classical dish is made if I’m right. Did you consider taking a train between Bologna and Rome? I know you guys like flying, but for such a short distance I think I definitely would consider taking one of the high speed trains, unless flying would still be the cheaper option 😅 I’ve been on the Frecciarossa once, between Milan and Venice. I know the Frecciarossa/Frecciabianca/Italo can be expensive, but these trains are actually very nice 👌🏻
ITA is no abbreviation of Italia, but stands for Italia Trasporto Aereo (Italy's Air Transport), so you can pronounce it as an acronym, which is what it actually is.
Sounds like a backronym to me..
My partner has flown Alitalia from Tokyo to Rome and twice and was able to upgrade to Business class for very reasonable price. He is still talking about it, he said it was better than Emirates. Qatar , BA, Air France Business class .
good review all in all, but just a couple of things about the food review, Cannelloni are a typical Italian dish and they are served without tomato cause that's the original Italian recipe, and we never heat up bread because it's fresh and it doesn't need to be heated to make it crunchy. Also we don't eat crackers with cheese, but bread, salty crackers would cover up the taste. We have a lot to learn about airlines, less about food 🙂
Maybe Lufthansa can bring some kind of consistency into the airline. I really wish them the best because Italy definitely needs a strong flag carrier
so they ruin it like they have done with Air Dolomiti
What makes you think they would do that? LH itself is a mess and I'm not even gonna start on Eurowings or the desaster that is Eurowings Discover.
Then it will be a German airline and Italy will have lost its national airline. Yet another sell-out of Italian companies. Shameful and humiliating.
@@lorenzofurnari I think that the aviation market has changed a lot in the last years, and that the concept of flag carrier is overcome and outdated, and maybe not that good for a State's economy anymore, Alitalia and TAP being two of the most significant examples.
So I support at least a partial privatisation to let ITA grow as it could and deserved to do.
I'm not that worried about what Lufthansa would do, I think (or at least I hope so) that they could keep the Italianity of the brand as an added value that would distinguish it from other airlines.
But in my opinion, to summarize, in the new aviation market, it is most of all the airline that has to make the Italian feeling its characteristic feature, not much the country to reflect itself in the flag carrier.
No surprise the largest operator in Italy is Ryanair, with ITA only being in fourth place
@@Ugo98 Unfortunately, Italian companies are gradually being taken over by foreign companies, it is not just a matter of the national airline. Other companies are moving to tax havens, which to me are unfair competition. Literally jackals.
"ITA" does stand for Italy, but not in this case. In case of ITA Airways the "ITA" stands for "Italia-Trasporto-Aereo"
Waited this video for so long! Keep up the fantastic work! 👍
I remember watching this live on flight aware. Great review as always
Absolutely fantastic video David!😸
Tks for sharing info on your equipment
Great video! It’s interesting to see your perspective as a long haul flyer. I fly very regularly from Heathrow to Fiumicino, and absolutely love ITA. The complimentary drink of choice and snack makes them stand out a lot for me. As well as the fact that in comparison to the other options I have, they are consistently the cheapest. For the 2 hour flight, in my opinion they’re very worth it.
Beautiful video, just a few considerations. Slots over LHR are not ITA Airways property, as Alitalia sold them to Etihad around 2015. ITA rented their slot until march 2023, and they eventually got rid off 'em. EIIFD is not waiting to be painted in blue, it will simply remain white with the "Born to be sustainable" livery.
your videos are always the best thanks for everthing you do!
I just flew the Delta A330neo and loved it! Excited for that video
I'd imagine that a part of the reason why they still have complimentary service in economy on domestic routes is because they also get competition from the high speed rail in Italy, which seems to offer a higher frequency, more comfort and complimentary service for roughly the same amount of money, or non complimentary service at much cheaper fares
For such short flights they should just distribute bottled water or individual size cartons of juice to all the passengers upon boarding - to save time
Just like they used to hand out packets of hand sanitizer to each passenger upon boarding
Nice flight review. I like the colors of the seats, it looks very sleek.
Love all the info you provide about the company! Great video! :)
Hi from Tokyo.I was just looking for ITA air ticket for summer vacation.only ita has direct flight to Rome.your video helped a lot thank you.
Like PAL I feel ITA has a lot of potential hopefully whomever will take ownership will help them grow also hoping they consider operating smaller aircraft while also codeshare with HST for routes that don't make sense I'm especially excited for the A330-900neo entering service soon!
Also sad the pizza wasn't available as a pre-arrival meal.
Ahahaha it was 9am too early to have a slice of pizza but I think they should considere serve it much early
super interesting, as always, thanks a lot ! 🙂
I really appreciate the wide variety of different airlines, from different parts of the world, this channel has introduced me to. Thank You ☺☺
Thank you for this review!
Nice work david, cool video💙💙😎
ITA uses both A330s and A350s for their long-haul network. In Boston, they use A330s (inherited from Alitalia)
Royal Blue is the color of the Savoy house that united Italy in 1860. Nothing to do with soccer.
I Have Not Try Out ITA AIRWAYS Yet.But Have Experience On ALITALIA.Great Trip Report
Simply Aviation, you guys need to come to Australia and review REX airlines, the relaunched Virgin Australia, the new airline Bonza, LINK airways, Fly Pelican and so many more I can't even think of. Definitely add Aus to the list of places to travel too.
I adore your channel! All of your videos are close to excellent.
I like how you all are including the model of the seats now.
Great review !! You mentioned Finnair’s pillow, but they said they will stop providing them in order to reduce costs :/
Nice 👍
Thanks for sharing
Greetings from Helsinki ❄️ Finland
WOW! The seats, service, everything is a lot better than I was expecting
Fantastic video!
This was a marvellaus video , thank you so much for making a video on ITA airways . keep it up ♥
Another excellent video! This is certainly one of the best aviation-reviewing channels on youtube. When and what will we get on the next video? Also, please try ton fly Starlux on their A350 or A330neo, they are also a very new airline. Thanks for sharing good content with us.
Wow I’m impressed with their meal service!! Their pre landing snack?? That seems worse than what I got with TAP! I’m eager to try out ITA sometime. Very nice and informative review!!!
229 airlines? That’s insane. But it makes sense as this is the best channel for any plane-related content. ❤❤
I'm surprised that Delta aren't in for this airline. They already work with Korean & Virgin (both Skyteam) and adding a Southern EU carrier would be a good idea imo.
Pandemic budgeting rules probably apply here. Plus their stake in LATAM hasn’t been going well.
@@ezioaltairac Perhaps yes.
Virgin aren't In an Alliance despite being 49% owned by Delta.
The transatlantic joint venture is already big as it is. Delta virgin Air France klm
That is one of the most beautiful liveries I have ever seen
Hi, do I need to choose the meal after? Cause when I bought the flight it said the I need to choose the meal 24 hours before.
That only applies to special meals for people with dietary restrictions. The usual meal choice is given on board during the flight.
Congrats to your first sponsorship!
EI-IFD is painted in the "Born to be sustainable" livery, a special livery by ITA to underline/advertise the better fuel economy of some of their new planes (I think these A350-900 compare to the former Alitalia's Boeing 777-200ER). A white livery is more "coherent" in doing so since its pigment is lighter than the blue one (that therefore adds weight to the plane). I don't know if this plane will be repainted in ITA's light blue main livery, given that all ITA's new Airbus A220s wear (for the same reason) the "Born to be sustainable" livery.
Love your videos !!
Aside from the good review, I liked how David pronounced Italian words!
the a350 is in the "born to be sustainable" livery, a special white livery used also on every a220 owned by the airline, the plane is not painted because it helps to use less fuel and me more sustainable
I will also highly recommend that you fly Air Tahiti Nui to Papeete and enjoy a few days there. Flew them last May and they were wonderful in my opinion.
Great video. How was the seat comfort and customer service? Did they offer to check in carry ons for free
Very nice review! I'm from italy and i flew on this airline called neos air. its an italian airline and it was pretty good. you guys could try that. Keep up the good work!
Congrats ITA ! Economy 9 across seating on the A350 . AVOID 10 across seating like Air France - where aside from the slimmest of Aisles ...the overall Eco Cabin feeling is truly Claustrophobic to say the least.... AND Yes .. some inflight Pizza please !
Hope this company finds success Italy is one of the biggest tourist destinations and imagine if it didn't have a national airline
You guys should come to Australia to fly all the Aussie airlines there’s bonza, Quantas, Jetstar, Rex, alliance and a few more
ITA has just announced service to San Francisco for this summer. I want to grab a ticket!
Of course, ITA Airways is like their currently national team. A missed chance in the world cup but hopefully a bright future.
Just a info/curiosity, the chosen Blue livery, like the one used by Italy's Football national team derives from the Savoia family color, back in time when Italy was reunited under a King 😁
You should fly Loganair from Edinburgh to Stornaway or Glasgow to Barra where you get to land on the beach in Barra and the beaches are so amazing to look at :)
My daughter is going to fly Ita next month from LAX to Rome so this review will be interesting for her to watch. Thanks for the great review David!❤✈️
How cool. She must be there by now. I'm from there and also live in Los Angeles.
Hope she's having a good time.
@@marklanders6833 she’s leaving on May 24tfor two weeks
@@dianeschroeder3980 Very cool! She's going to love it 🤩

I've just subscribed to your channel. I love your highly-professional, informative tone but laid-back style. Videos are very nicely produced, too. Thank you!
Thank you very much, and welcome to the channel! :) We have both videos with voice-overs (red text in thumbnails), as well as a videos with just subtitles (blue text in thumbnails), so you can easily tell them apart should you prefer just one of the two styles.
Just to let you know its an Italian Football team. Great video by the way. Keep up the good work.
i love ita airways💙💙💙
I know you’ve already done Uzbekistan Airways on their fifth freedom SIN-KUL flight but I would love to see a review of their TAS-JFK flight on the Dreamliner.
nice content brother God bless you always..❤❤❤
Would anyone know how strict ITA airways is with carry one size? Its been hard to find a bag with those exact measurements
I miss the old Italian airline called Alitalia. She flew for decades
The remark CL3710 is my favourite economy seat
Great review. Loved your Italian accent!😊
I can relate about schiphol airport. I always have to walk all the way around the airport
I flew Alitalia Premium Eco years ago LAX-FCO it was really nice. I should have flown ITA last October from Milan after Lufthansa Cancelled my flight!!.
ITA should remain a nationalized carrier, not just in order to keep a higher standard of service, but also to realistically exist at all. Alitalia collapsed in part because of major competition with Italy's high speed railways, and it seems any privatization would suffer the same fate (along with, as mentioned, lower value for cost).
How long did you have to transfer to between flights in Rome? Was it easy enough?
Maybe fly Sunwing next? Seems like a good airline
YESS!
superb mister 😍
Nice, LIPE is my home airport!
The intro is always amazing
Thats a nice simple livery 🎉
I love Ita I was big fun of Alitalia Best pilots !
Thank you 😍 we hope to improve 💙🇮🇹
Love your pronunciation of these airport names😎😎😎
You should try HiSky! This company just got recently an Airbus A321neoLR. You can fly with them from Bucharest to Dublin Tel Aviv or Malaga with this plane
Maybe you could fly Indias brand new low lost airline AkasaAir I heard they have great service!
You NEED to fly with arajet, you will not regret it, I hope so.
I love love love your sassy commentary 💅🏼🙌🏼
I liked your insight.
Hope you fly and give an insight of long haul TAP flights.
I’m fling to Italy this fall and tried booking a business seat with ITA but the prices is emirates first class price tag… they need to work their pricing because wow. Needless to day i decided to book a different airline.
Which tablet is the best in economy class a350? This or Lufthansa?
Love your Italian accent David!
Can the first couple of rows in economy be booked for free with Sky team Elite plus ?
Fantastica grande compagnia italiana vi seguo dal Canada 🇨🇦
When you come to Indonesia, you need to try Pelita Air, Citilink, and Super Air Jet. They compete in the same market here in Indonesia!
Thanks for pointing out the lack of accessibility in preflight safety video.
One thing to keep in mind about the Marconi Express is the steep price tag. Despite being relatively new (opening in late 2020), a one-way fare from the airport to Bologna Centrale (the main train station) costs €11 for a less than 10-minute ride. It used to be cheaper when it started running, but for something so overpriced it's worth avoiding. For a service that has even broken down a few times already replacement buses have been used, but you'd still have to pay the full price.
Prior to its inauguration there was a perfectly running bus service connecting the same two places and followed the same schedule: the Aerobus. Once the Marconi Express became operational it shut down. One-way fares on the Aerobus were a reasonable €6 and you could also get a discount with an open return ticket
You should try and fly the new Australian low-cost airline, Bonza! I heard for a low-cost carrier its pretty nice.
I haven't flown it yet but I've heard great things about it. Same with REX, also a great airline.
