  • Game 5: somebody's going to the final, somebody's dropping out. The players from Game 1 face each other again, this time in a test of mental agility. It's like FizzBuzz, only... harder. Much harder.
    Playing in the tournament:
    EMMA BLACKERY, video gamer: / birdyboots
    STEVEN BRIDGES, magician: / stevenbridges
    HANNAH NICKLIN, game designer: / hannahnicklin
    KATIE STECKLES, mathematician: / st3cks
    The tournament is "double elimination", which means you have to lose twice -- or lose in the grand final -- before you're knocked out. Six shows, six games, only one winner. Game on.

      Alex Marshall I’m familiar with the theory, and it’s not generally accepted.
      Even if it was, for two bodies to be a double planet system, they would have to orbit around a barycenter that lies outside both bodies. The earth-moon barycenter lies within the earth.
      Look, what is and isn’t a planet is a game of semantics. From a certain point of view, we could actually have thousands of planets in the solar system, most of which would be in the asteroid and Kuiper belt. From another point of view, Jupiter should be classified as a type of star.
      Both are equally valid, but both would also make everything allot more confusing.
      Pluto isn’t a damn planet and it’s never gonna be, else there be chaos.

      +FlipFlopGaming I am from Bulgaria and I don't know what part of the population know it, but me and some friends play it quite a lot during long trips. However, we play one much more challenging version. It may seem that having two different words (Fizz and Buzz) makes the game harder, but having only one (we use Tsak [t͡sʰək]) increases the difficulty of keeping track of the current number. We also say one Tsak for each time it is divisible by the chosen numbers and also each time it contains that digit in itself. We usually use 5 and 7, so 75 is Tsak, Tsak, Tsak, Tsak. And also we switch the direction in which we are taking turns every time at least on Tsak is said (it doesn't matter how many).

    • @metallsnubben
      @metallsnubben Před 8 lety

      +indjev99 I feel like for me saying "tsak" correctly would be hard enough, let alone the game... ;)

    • @indjev99
      @indjev99 Před 8 lety

      metallsnubben Well the game is not really about the difficulty of saying a particular word, so there is no reason not to use another word. For us it isn't difficult because in our language (Bulgarian) all of the word's sounds are found naturally.

    In my gradeschool days, the rules for "Bing-Buzz" was a "Bing" for every multiple of 5 or containing a 5 as a digit, and a "Buzz" for every multiple of 7 or containing a digit 7
