Every Echo/Shindy I have witnessed on your channel, absolutely rips, that would make an excellent lil saw up here in Alaska, for cutting trapline trails, also between it and a husky 346, would make an excellent log cabin building saw good work!!

I put an aluminum handle and capture nuts on my 4910 so I guess it’s a 501p now. All I did was a muffler mod, put more than enough power for what I use it for.
I sent him a 501p to port I paid for it I still have it it's a great saw very strong too it has cut a lot of fire wood an not gave me one bit of a problem I don't now the numbers he uses on them I've never Ben into that one only him it's a real good saw I've Ben very happy with it
It's funny how you can have two of same model saws an the feel like two different saws an sound different I tend to run more blow down then most do an I tend to run split timing on transfers 2 to4 deg usually I like a broad tork curve I run more intake timing then most too seems to do it for me
@@CharlesBrisco I never have one rule of thumb. Some saws love long blowdown and some hate it. I do stagger the uppers. Some saws like a low exhaust some don’t. All depends on the saw and what the customer is asking for.
Whatt!! 102 ex and 81 intake? Doesn't this mean exhaust duration 156° and intake 162° I have never heard of anyone having more intake duration than exhaust. You seem to know what you are doing but I think I misunderstood something pls help
@@thomaslindroos1667 they build some wicked saws I just built how I think they shud be the intake lands there after I cut the base not much I can do but ad epoxy to the floor but they snap like lighting an no blow back thru carb so I runem that way
@@CharlesBrisco yea that does sound like a hassle to start epoxying the intake but yea this makes me less afraid of intake timing in the future. Keep the videos coming Charles!
Next up, building a small block Chevy on a broke budget that blows the doors off the door slammers on the streets with a real steel car .... Come on man, show em a car that twists with a cage on pump gas.
That's cool work and all but for all that effort just buy a bigger better saw THEN perform all that same work on it then you'll have something better than a above average limbing saw
If you watch any of his other videos he’s done this to ALOT of bigger saws. Also, nobody thought a Honda Civic would ever perform to V8 standards until people started modding them. The same logic applies here.
@@IndianaDoug Lol I understand that and my same logo also applies why waste your time modding A Honda Civic when you can mod a Camero or Mustang lol in the end you still have yourself a piece of crap Civic only a dumb teenager wld want 🤦🏽♂️
@@redman4076 that’s just it, we like big hot rods, where others like whatever else. I’m not gonna hate on em for it, apples and oranges thing really. Back to saws, not sure how much you know about 2 Strokes, but when you mod a larger displacement machine, on average it might yield 10-15% more power, which is good! But when you mod a smaller displacement machine with the same port work, you will get double that or more. I’ve ran 50cc saws that easily outrun 60cc saws. All that extra power, minus the weight, and still saving on fuel. Pretty good trade off if you spend 8-10 hours a day cutting.

@@IndianaDoug I know plenty about chainsaws I've been running them hard for the last 25+ yrs I'm a commercial tree thinner plus I heat my home with firewood and supply plenty of others homes in my community with firewood and have built and rebuilt my fair share of them over the yrs Plus I've grown up around saws my whole life my dad and grandfather were loggers But like you said to each there own so whatever Just seems like a wast of time skill and resources on what imo is a beginner or home owner saw I've literally seen piles of blown saws that are in that category 🤷🏽♂️

Those model echo are easy to port. My buddy Patrick Allred builds a lot of them. Egan gave you one too iirc

I take my in take reading as piston comes down an just shuts port off with skirt I just had this build ran on a dyno it made over 5.5hp
