Sadly voting doesn't work above the school board level any longer - they own that system and they made this very obvious during the past elections. What puppet you want is no longer a concern for those now in control - but if it makes you feel better to vote then have at it - but you should really educate yourself on this matter - there is plenty of evidence and many people around the world yelling this to mostly deaf ears.

The main reason for this is all of the large companies take the slave tax off your cheque before they give it to you, they serve the government in fear to try avoid any penalties or additional expenses - not their employers. In a time where people are choosing not to file their slave tax, its no wonder the government is trying to get their cony corporations to enforce it for them.

I constantly employ 1099 employees. My business is right on that edge where I can afford and need employees, but $20 an hour is just what THEY see as income. It comes to almost 38 an hour for us to pay once you include insurance, workers comp etc. And right now, that exceeds what I can afford. I plan on growing a bit larger to do this but I would still want independents so I can get to know them first. My work environment requires immense trust, and I am not the easiest guy to work for. I have requirements of who I want to hire that I can't say publicly so I don't get sued, but I can remove a 1099 for any reason or not hire them. i.e. Anyone who uses pronouns, colored hair, excessive tats, prefer no females, and I always hope for a Christian candidate. That said, I am still learning. I wish I had a mentor here in GA I could pick their minds on growing my business. Everything I have made has been through costly trial and error.

I wish I could agree with your assessment of robotics and automation. I started working at a large manufacturer in 1979. 3500 employees...Perhaps 2000 taking a 4 to 6 week seasonal layoff every year. Sales increased, layoffs went away. Sales increase, automation was introduced. Sales increased, robotics were installed.
I retired 5 years ago. The plant where I worked is no more. A new building replaced it. Highly automated. Production runs round the clock 24/7 355 to 360 days per year. All lines produce on the order of five to six times more production, per shift. Mechanics and electricians have been cut to one third the levels of 1979. Total employees, 1500 to 1600.
Product lines and new products were introduced in that 40 years. So 2000 fewer employees are producing at rates never seen.
Finally....The best part. Lean automated manufacturing has another benefit. Any time some one is sick, the only way to cover is mandatory over time. Vacations, mandatory overtime. If a line increases production from a 5 day operation to a seven day operation....Mandatory overtime till operations is sure the expanded production is need year round. When I left there were folks working 12 hour shifts, seven days per week. Some 16 months straight.
The company I started with was a very different place than the company I retired from. Ever seen someone who has worked repetitive work 84 hours per week for over a year. And....Forced to work three or four16 hour days every other week because someone needed an operation or was off sick? It ain't pretty. Automation and robotics were great till production maxed out.

we have such a divers set of needs. from the inner city to the outskirts of town into the country. no state has the same needs or wants. what we are butting up against are ourselves. when no area's needs are not met, we become homeless, when the farm is monopolized we all pay higher prices. My point is how are we to deal with each others needs. Because right now you have big business deciding for us. Right now and ever sense the Reagan years, business has been making more and more decisions over the people then we the people have. The will of the people is in dismay and we are desperate to gat back that control we have lost. Its as simple as that. The worth of the worker is being diminished. Where does that put people. needing a safety net. like UBI. The right to work is diminishing because the big business does not want workers. They only want that wealth the customer gives. With a monopoly they get there way. Because there is no small business that c an provide what they can. We simply need our anti-trust and profiteering laws rules and regulation reinstated. Its time to breakup big business and spread the wealth.

Stan, some thoughts from someone in the IT (Web Development) industry.
Pro Act... Mike Rowe is right to be concerned. I am very much too.
4 Day Work Week... I'd like a 4 day work week but I want to choose. Not be forced by government to work 4 day work weeks.
AI... I am not nearly as concerned about AI. Search engines ingest what is published online. If there comes a day all content found online is all AI generated, the AI can only hallucinate and create bad / false content. It does not know what to believe or trust. There needs to be strict guardrails in place for AI not to wander off. Same with ideological guardrails. They need to be in place. Just look at all the highly publicized inaccuracies of AI due to biased training data. Garbage in... garbage out. As I said, the problem is only going to be compounded as more sub par AI content is produced.
As a web developer, I see AI as a tool in my tool belt. AI cannot problem solve. It can only recognize existing patterns in the training data it is supplied. There still needs to be an experienced web developer in control to string together bits on AI generated code into something that is coherent. There is many times that AI doesn't generate code that is secure. So there always needs to be someone reviewing code.

Honestly Stan, I understand your argument against AI and robotics etc, but as a small business in Canada, I personally am 100% all in with the AI tools. I literally can't afford to hire a web designer, a graphic designer, a marketing agent etc, I use my own LOCALLY HOSTED AI platforms on MY OWN computer to do all of these jobs and saved myself tens of thousands of dollars. I've been forced to do the same thing with my landscaping business that frankly, you helped me build. I've been forced because of rising prices and taxes to reduce my company down to literally just me, it was cheaper and more economical to replace real living employees who I used to pay $25-$40/hour with machinery that does the work of 5 guys. Gotta love the Liberal Government, raising costs so high that you either fire employees, go out of business or jack prices up so high nobody wants to pay you.

Unless they finally decided they have taken enough from customers. That ain’t going to happen in this century or the next.

When people talk about how rich people are, they confuse the calculations. For instance, a house is not an asset but a liability until it is sold. Stocks are not cash until they are sold. So, if I own 10,000,000 shares of a company, am I rich…. Well, no if it was ENRON, or WorldCom, unless I sold them 1 minute prior to the companies tanking. Same with real estate, if you bought in 2007, you probably were underwater as far as resale, then you have to keep up with maintenance, appliances, taxes, etc. hoping it will go back up in value before the neighborhood turns into a crime riddled swamp. So, if Joe Schmo just takes enough cash to live on, and everything else is invested, is he rich or a high stakes gambler waiting for a big payoff.

Didnt this pass in January and went into effect March 11th? This is suppose to stop organizations from abusing the contract status so they dont have to pay benifits to people. If you work for the same company all the time you are considered and employee and cant be considered a contractor as I understand it. The IRS made my daughter take an accessment test of her title "contractor" and she works the same business everyday. The IRS said the employer must pay all the taxes and penalties and change her to "employee" status. Actual contractors that have their own EIN will operate the same. Atleast this is what I have seen so far.

The Proact in California stops thousands of Independence Truck drivers from picking up loads at the port of Los Angeles.. To me this is a unconstitutional law. This directy impedes the pursuit of my happiness. This could stop volunteer Firefighters. Even though most states require Volunteer Firefighters to take a level of training to be volunteer Firefighters. This would stop Profesional AKA Paid Firefighters from starting a school to train volunteer Firefighters in there area because they are not educator certified. This technically would stop fire departments from additional training until they could get someone educated to college accredited instructor to train other Firefighters.

Fairtax, aka: consumption tax. You are only taxed on new purchases, the tax would be roughly 23%, but it's the only tax that would exist federally. The IRS would cease to exist. If you buy $100 shoes, they will be $123, but if your loaded and buy a 100 million dollar jet, it's now 123 million. So the rich would be taxed more then you and me, but done fairly, and no loop holes for anyone. Regardless if your some rich guy making capital gains, or an illegal being payed under the table...the table will no longer exist.

i'm retired now.... BUT if i were young, then i'd be investing my time into learning a lot of different skills, knowledge and abilities.... learning about hydraulics, electric motors and wiring, engine repair and design, computer hardware, chemistry, metals, plastic, wood and metal fabrication, soil properties and how to amend it to what you want, hydrological/ how to manage and condition water, air flow and air filtering and conditioning... some basic interpersonal skills (how to interact with others in order to collaborate instead of conflicting with them), and some good business/accounting knowledge (don't be one of those "hip pocket operators who goes broke every new season).... and most important (DON'T BUY TOYS, WHEN YOU SUPPOSE TO BE BUYING TOOLS OR LEARNING HOW TO MAKE THEM )... invest, invest, and invest (did i say invest enough) and don't spend... saving is okay but remember that the government is making inflation so high that anything you save will be less tomorrow so you gotta invest ... invest in things and ideas that you really really trust, understand, and know about but at the same time you gotta have a wad of cash in case of emergencies (so financial balance is key to withstanding hard times... NO DEBT)... and the most important thing is "don't rob yourself of your time" (don't waste time, even if you're broke and depressed (so what if your wife, kids and dog left you) , you can still be learning how to do stuff)... and don't be a drunk or addict kickin' rocks in a prison yard (be a good person who respects others AND YOURSELF) ... the next generation of winners will be those that can do/learn all things to at least an acceptable level and at least a couple of things really well... wished i was young again, there's great times ahead

The ABC test is the main differentiator. Its a really low bar, too. If you are not scheduling your own hours, have your own registered business and are paying your own taxes. As well as using your own lines of credit. Are you really your own business or are you just pretending because you are afraid nobody will hire you if you demand what you are worth. If all you are doing is the exact same thing as the regular employees if they existed, you are not independent. If you can't go work for the competitors of your customer at the same time, you are not independent.
