Sure it looks like it's underwater, but it's not. If it was underwater then its underweight flowy tentacles would not be able to move as fast and flowy as it shows in the video.

    I figured someone here might appreciate my anecdote. I was on the Jungle Cruise and leaned over the side (which I should NOT have done) to take a photo. I heard some bubbles in the water. I looked down into the open mouth of an alligator, which hadn't been there a few seconds before. I SCREAMED. Our guide stopped, paused, asked if I was ok, then said, "Let's give her a hand, ladies and gentlemen! The first person to be legitimately terrified by the Jungle Cruise!" And if that wasn't enough, he stopped me after the ride to ask what had happened. He couldn't stop laughing!!! He even pulled out some sheet to write it down. Looking very lonely and so worn out. But they’re still smiling because they know we will try to get to them. Minnie’s pose suggests that she welcomes the company. Mickey clearly is reaching out. They’re smiling but time is too unkind to them. They would look less lonely and heartbreaking if they were in diving suits or something.

Then at Geauga Lake Amusement Park I was on a skyway ride and saw large stones painted to look like dead bodies in the lake. In 1985 I went to Walt Disney World as a 11 year old and rode the 20,000 leagues under the sea ride and saw a bunch of submerged animatronics. It did help me face my fear of submerged objects and I did find it very enjoyable.

    Honestly what makes me the most upset is the amount of times Disney will just abandon the attractions for 10+ years before salvaging and it sucks because they could store them properly and make a mega museum. All of these beautiful designs and artworks just...rotting. it's so sad because the craft that was used to create Disney movies and attractions back before 2000 was so mystical and magical and all 2D coming to life in 4D then 3D animation started creeping in and now half of these attractions that weren't brand titles are being replaced by crap like frozen. It feels like the attractions are loosing their story book myths and legends roots with these stunning illustrations to make way for the main money maker movies that are heavily....merchandised....and that doesn't feel very magical anymore. When I was a kid I was able to go once to a Disney world for a holiday when some of these older attractions were still around. I wasn't old enough to appreciate the stuff I see in them now as an adult, I didn't pay attention to the details and stories, the aesthetics and illustrations all of the little nuances that I would pick up on now that I'm older and it sucks that I won't even be able to see this stuff in a museum to appreciate where the art and illustration that inspired me to become an artist came from. I was only able to go to a Disney world once when I was a child and it's the only time iv left my country on a holiday. I've always wanted to go back and make a list of the rides I went on and the attractions I saw when I was a kid and try and find them again, but little by little they are vanishing and being replaced and it's breaking my heart. That's not to say however there isn't any new attractions I would want to see, but I'm very sad that they aren't atleast even TRYING to preserve their more historical pieces. They really should have known better.

    I think it depends on the situation. I'm totally fine with those statues that are submerged for decorative art that can let coral grow on it, and same with the idea of tossing old trams/trains/subway cars into the water for life to use them as shelter...but actually being in one of those while underwater would freak me out pretty bad.
    And I'm sure that "submerged" ride over in tokyo disneysea would give me some serious issues...I already have a fear of being under the water so, seems like a bad choice in ride for me xD
    But yeah, things like statues or the jungle cruise animatronics? Totally fine with that

  • @iansepdham3560
    @iansepdham3560 Před 4 lety +35

    I had no idea my fear had a name. I think the worst part is that some of these animatronics aren't just unnatural, but could cause serious injury. The Jungle Cruise has some hidden deep pits, with moving metal parts that would probably break anything that was there. Worse is the Jaws ride hinted at in the ending of the video. Hidden in the dark water, this 3-ton metal shark structure supposedly moved with the thrust of a 747 jet engine. It would move as programmed, and I wouldn't be able to see it coming as it crushed me. Terrifying.
