I just was trying to get the mixture screw adjusted but couldnt without removing the carb. I have no idea how to do anything on this bike so your video was crucial in my success in removing my 2000s carb, I was able to adjust the screw and now my top speed went from 50 mph to 65+! thanks so much for this video!
cracked a beer and relaxing with this after my bike died 10 minutes down the road... I bought a 21 model last year, it's my first bike and I got my license on it as well! Been running ethanol fuel in her though and i think i buggered up the pilot jet my dumbass fault... anyway Thanks for the tips here. cheers bud. I know your carb isn't quite the same as mind but i figured theres some good shit to know here.
Loved the vidio! Looked like me in my shop. Just picked up a 1990 so I learned some stuff. Mine has been setting outside for who knows how long. So far just moving it around front brake is frozen, throttle is frozen, no intake, no ignition, no side covers, tires dry rotted and on and on. Something to keep me busy. And picked up for $175. So we'll see how it goes. Thanks again
Just by chance, I quit the "party scene" just before Covid became a thing. I wanted to spend more time tinkering on projects in my garage and less time suffering from hangovers, LOL. Lock-downs facilitated that plan. Now being a loner out in the shop isn't considered weird. I'm going to try to improve the quality of my vids now that I know there's lots of folks out there, like me, that still like engines, tools, noise, etc. Have fun with your TDub project!!
@@ontariotube I wouldn't change a thing with your videos. Some that I watch are to clinical. I like the reality of your video. Like I said you make me think of me in my shop. And I learned some things. Thanks again.
Nice job getting her running again. I would have taken the jets out and looked for obstructions while I had the carb out, just to make sure. You especially want to check and clean the pilot jet and blow out the passage to the pilot jet so the motor will idle nicely and not conk out on you. I guess it's clean enough because it's running. Get out and ride and have some fun!
OT, what gas tank is on your TW? My neighbor gave me his 1987 TW and I am working on getting it going. Should be another week or so before I get all the parts needed.
The 2 smaller lines vent the float bowl to the ground. The bigger line is the vent tube for the crank case.. sending blowby to the air intake case for re-circulation (EGR).
Those were just some old Arctic Cat snowmobile bags I had sitting around. You might notice I fabbed up a little stainless muffler guard to keep them off them the muffler.
my TW200 (1988) was sitting for 8 years and i got it started in 8 hours

That's awesome! Once you're used to taking the carb off, it's pretty easy.. but yeah, I remember the first time was a head-scratcher.
You went through something very similar to me. I was given a TW that was left to rot for years out behind a house. It was a mess, but runs great now.

Says Clarke, USA on the gas cap.
I still have the original tank on the shelf but I doubt it’ll ever go back on 😬
Any chance you know where I can find an upgraded tank to put on mine?
Mine was a Clarke tank (bike now sold) like the one here: www.justgastanks.com/clarke-yamaha-tw200-gas-tank-all/
So it looks like three of those lines are over flow lines that run....to the ground maybe? Good job on the video!
