- Theresa and Mike Morini took in a dog named Dita after Theresa’s mother passed away last September. The loyal 5-year-old Chihuahua mix refuses to leave her former master’s gravesite in New York State. “It broke my heart. Dita and my mother were inseparable, wherever my mother went, Dita followed,” she told Inside Edition. They even snuck Dita into the hospital outside Albany where Theresa’s mother was being treated for congestive heart failure. #InsideEdition

When my gentle grandma passed from this life,she had a sweet furbaby,a poodle mix,very tiny. We called her Shalom,for she brought us peace. But she continued to sleep on grams bed after gram died,every single night. One morning I woke,and went to take her out to do her thing,I found her little body cold and stiff on the bed. I believe her tiny heart had been broken,and she wanted to be with her mommy. They were inseperatable.🐕

They feel their owners presence. Cats can tell when someone is about to expire.
My neighbor passed away years ago and two days after he passed, his dog died too. They were so close. My neighbors wife thought the dog died of a broken heart.
When my grandpa died, both his dogs stopped eating & died shortly afterwards!

She’s lucky she had someone to take her in after her master passed.
I had an elderly dog growing up, and we believed her past owner passed away and she was left behind. She was sad for a while and it took her a while for her to respond to us, but she was the most loyal grandma-dog a girl could ever have.
It always makes me so sad when I heard her say; “Hello sweetheart, did you miss your grandma?”
I can’t help but cry, poor baby. She sounds so sweet.

When my husband passed his cat Elvira wouldn't leave his chair sitting on his shirt. When we moved she jumped out of the car and wouldn't leave the house so she stayed with the new renters. Amazing right!
It's lovely that the new renters took her in and let her stay. That was her happy place and it's so kind that you let her stay, she definitely missed him and being there probably brought her lots of comfort. Very touching :)
Yeah no way my pet would be staying with "new renters". This is exactly how we ended up with Ben, our cat. His previous owner wouldn't roll up the car windows so she left him. We moved into our house about 2 weeks later and finding he'd been dumped we took him in. Poor cat has serious abandonment issues and screams if I am someplace he doesn't want me to be..ie: the bathroom, my bedroom, when I leave to do shopping..

This isn't new. One of Montana's most famous dogs stayed at the train station where his owner's body was sent away. Always waiting for his owner to come bck.

I feel like it's something that anybody from the Baby Boomer and prior uses in terms of pets. In my parents days they didn't treat pets like friends/ relatives. Animals (dogs and cats) were kept outside and fed table scraps. At least in the south.

I'm a large dog person. I have a Chesapeake. Then my daughter moved to an apartment that didn't allow dogs and so I took their Min Pin. My chessie won't play with him and he got quite chubby (18 lbs) so we decided to get another dog to help Gomie lose weight. It took a while but when one came up, we snatched her up. I always said I'd never get a Chihuahua, but it was the only small dog I could find. She was eleven weeks old, a deer head brindle. Beautiful, smart and sassy. She is our joy! And our chessie just loves her. Had her spayed last week and a vet tech wanted to know if we'd sell her. Not for a million dollars!
And yes, Gomie is slimming down.

My uncle recently passed away year ago. He had a pitbull named Macy and Me my brother and my dad now take care of her. A couple weeks after my uncle died we took Macy to his grave she didn’t stop at any of the graves exept when we got close to her owner my uncle she stopped immediately because she knew That he was buried there it was really hard the past months after his death for the dog and for everyone in my family the dog is really affected especially when he had died because she was there I was there and you could see her just panicking. My uncle died because he had cancer in his throat and now when anyone coughs she’ll come and lick them immediately and make sure they’re ok.

Steven is right though. The lady has already passed away. There's nothing we can do for her. Now, we can pray for her daughter since she's probably still grieving the loss of her mother.
