It's nice to see some empirical test results from the different wings and lift aid configurations. Nice work as usual. 🙂
Really nice to see that wing flying! Can't wait to see your build flying!
Best kitfox video series on the internet.
Nice!
I did not imagined that the difference in stall speed will be 12kts.
Can't wayt to see what the wings do on your build!
I know your going after Steve!!! You got this!!! Awesome job!!!! Great video!!!
I can’t believe you got this done, exactly the kind of info I have been looking for. I have been thinking about these slats for my Avid Magnum. It seems almost Taboo to even talk about Slats on Kitfox wings, I’m glad you got it done & shared it with us. Keep it up.
Nice. Slats are a game changer for sure.
They sure are, especially electric retractable ones!
This answered many of my questions. As I didn't know the background of that second set of wings, much less the fact that you'd have chosen them had you purchased the project as a factory kit, it had all the appearance of feature/mission creep. All too common with homebuilt projects. And all sorts of projects. That, along with your analysis of those competitive events. made everything quite clear. No matter. This video featured.....flying! Wonderful video in many ways. Thank you, Bryan 😃
AWESOME! Cant wait to see these on your Fox
Best build channel on CZcams, so much good info. Thanks Bryan
Great video Bryan. It's always good to see innovation being tried and tested to make a good product even better.
wings ought to be awesome on your plane-can't wait
Grate information Bryan thanks, looking forward to seeing this in the air.
Fantastic Bryan, just fantastic
Great work Bryan.
Pioneering.
Excellent performance, good work!
Very interesting information. Thanks for the details.
That was probably the best so far. Can't wait to see the wings on yours for it's first flight.
Can’t wait to see the numbers in your plane
Testing a new, potentially better wing. Doesn't get much more exciting than that.
Bryan, very very cool my friend.
Bryan, hello from South Africa.
With regards to the lack of elevator authority at very low speeds, try vg's on your cabin roof and a fence at the fuel tank rib. The guys from # "About 2 Stall" did many tests with vg's, fences and got amazing results on a standard wing.
Give them a look-see!
Kindest regards and a really God Blessed Christmas to you and your family.
Reid.
Haha...LOVE IT! And the rockin intro is back! Thanks for your updates & videos man. To quote you in your intro.... "yeaah!" 👍👍👍
Covering and then fairing that aft A-frame on the gear will get you better speed on less throttle, and better climb. It also reduces the needed nose up trim. But you know that.....
Hope to see you at May Day STOL in WAYNE, NE!
Sweet
thats freaking awesome. cant wait to see you in the air with yours.
Impressive, most impressive
Спасибо за обзор, у нас хотя и тяжелее в стране обстоят дела с полетами и постройкой самолёта , но мы не здаемся!👍
Very nice, thanks.
Nice work! Now you just need Randy to send you a set of electric retractable slats like the Zlin Norden has.
Very cool
Very interesting🤠
How many people got super excited when they initially saw a picture of wings on their feed, thinking Mike Patey finally has wings for Scrappy??? Haha! Just me?
Stall at 29mph, w/ 2 notch of flap. Not bad. I didn't catch how much the cruise decreased.
Great video. I have the STI wing with 233 Lycoming, gross weight of 996 lbs empty and close to the same numbers. One thing I would like to know is the trim and where it is set at these test. On by buy annual last year we could not get the plane to stall without setting the trim. Interested in where the trim is set during the drag competition and these stalls. Thanks Tom
Go rich Kimble!
It would have been nice to have had some inflight footage of the slats' operation from the wing camera... Otherwise great job!
Why does it matter whether you're going with the wind or not? I can see why it would matter if you're using a GPS for your speed, but if you're travelling along with the wind, surely it wouldn't make any difference?
They probably had something recording the GPS track and wanted to use it to validate the airspeed they were seeing during the stalls
I predict Snake River Bush Planes is about to get very busy
need to research them zenith planes with slats. they put on bigger rudder and elevators.
The model 7 has a bigger elevator.
I can't see wings anywhere, without thinking .. . SCRAPPY
Bryan, did you ever do the follow up testing and post the results? Id like to see how this wing compares directly with the STI wing, not the standard one. Did you ever broach that? Thanks. Good info.
So is there a happy medium? Can the stall speed be slower at a higher rev? . Say 1500 opposed to power off completely? It seemed like this happened here
They look a bit simular to the BUSHWACKER carbon fiber wing.
What do you think about putting 2018+ Honda Accord 2.0L turbo engine on kitfox. It has 252hp and with little bit of tuning the engine will output more than 300hp. At a cost of almost brand new engine can be purchased around $3k.
Things to consider are the gear reduction drive and the overall weight.
Lol, on trigear. Wow
Another great video. I noticed that Steve Henry trailers his aircraft to all the events. Are there issues with longer flights with the engine (e.g. low TBO, oil consumption, etc)?
Not that I am aware of. Maybe the turbo version, but with the NA engine I have heard of no reason it can’t perform perfectly for x-country flights, and I plan on flying long distances. Oshkosh for example.
I notice the long dorsal on the test plane.. Help the tail wag?
That is the standard tail on the Vixen model. Sweep tail for the tricycle set up. More Cessna looking. Still has the small elevator of the model 5.
Engine is running, wings are almost ready, won't be long now. It's driving Me crazy, can't wait to see it in the air.
Have you thought about reflexing your flaperons?
What do you mean by reflexing?
