  • Conic Hill sits at 361m above sea level and is one of the most popular hills in the Scottish Highlands. It is traversed on the West Highland Way route before hikers hit the shores of Loch Lomond, the largest fresh water loch in Scotland. The hill and loch both sit on the Highland Boundary Fault, said to be the natural boundary between in lowlands of central Scotland and the Highlands.

    Great video Abbie! Thank you thank you thank you for talking about littering 🙏 As a Ranger It is so heart breaking when we find litter in our parks 😔 So please everyone do as Abbie says and be a good human by not littering, collecting what you do see and educating others. You’ll absolutely make a Ranger’s day and change the world for the better 😊

    Who's Anna? she seems lovely & clearly makes you all happy & giggly. Every one needs a friend like Anna. Great filming Abbie, I've mentioned this on so many of your videos, but I'm walking the WHW next Easter with my hubby & 2 kids (13&11) so any sneak peaks of anything to do with WHW & I'm on it like a rocket... Standing on the top of a mountain you have just climbed, in the rain, can make you feel exhilarated and fully alive. I completely get that. I really enjoyed this video. Abbie, your narration is particularly poetic in this video, and it seems fitting given the gorgeous shots you are getting. I love the description of the rain and clouds "dancing" with the landscape, and you can really see that in the video. Wow. Both of you make me really want to go and hike in Scotland, even in the rain.

    Great Video Abbie & Anna! Seems that the pandemic brought more people on the trails, for foreign destinations are difficult to reach these days.
    Unfortunately those newbies do not care to much about littering, or haven't been tought what LEAVE NO TRACE means and why it is so important.
    Same here in Germany, you might have recognized on your Black Forest Tour, which is my home turf.
    Logging my miles for you and your project on mental health! Keep the great job going. Cheers

  • @alistairj4851
    @alistairj4851 Před 3 lety +5

    It's a shame camera's are so intrusive, otherwise they could be used to identify people dropping litter on the trail and when they got to the bottom of the trail there could be a ranger handing out fines. Might help discourage the disrespectful and immature behaviour of some people.

  • @hannahmcintosh5343
    @hannahmcintosh5343 Před 3 lety

    Another great video. One good thing about the pandemic is that it has got loads more people outside! If you do another Scotland video soon do you think you could do a little PSA about how fast it gets dark up here in Autumn, Winter and Spring? So many inexperienced hill walkers get lost in the dark at this time of year because they dont know how fast and early nightfall comes in the North. Cheers and keep up the great work.

    Tom Weir, Abbie, Tom Weir. Not John Weir. A remarkable man, he was a veteran of the Craigallian Fire, from which Scottish hillwalking, including the route of the West Highland Way itself, is descended. A walking pioneer, much like Wainwright south of the border, he later became a broadcaster, making the hugely influential walking programme, Weir's Way.
    His sister was Molly Weir, best known, to those of us old enough to remember such gems, as the McWitch in Rentaghost.

    • @TheScotsalan
      @TheScotsalan Před 3 lety +1

      Yup. I grew up with Weirs way on the telly. All the stuff about Bonnie Prince Charlie and his epic escape from the Hanovarians. Thing is, I now know it was false history. As a 50 year old Scot, I never realised til wikipedia that the 1745 was not Scots v English, it was Catholics v Proddies. And as a Campbell myself 😂😳😷. Maybe false history is too strong a description. Lets say Tom Weir was at the end of the mythical period 😜.

  • @johnscot1
    @johnscot1 Před 3 lety +1

    Nice video Abbie. The loosening of lockdown rules in Scotland has brought many new people to Scotland's hills and wild spaces, which is good. But, unfortunately, some of them have no respect or understanding for the surroundings they are meant to be enjoying and littering has become a big problem. It is almost beyond belief that you can be attracted to somewhere for its beauty, then deliberately spoil that beauty by littering.

    • @nk53nxg
      @nk53nxg Před 3 lety

      Thats because a lot of the general public are ignorant pigs. Live in NE Scotland with the Cairngorms National Park nearby, sometimes the bottles and litter at the sides of the road just looks tragic.
