    Walked the WHW last year and I am glad I took the low road as it is beautiful and stunning. The High Road may makes scene if you wanna make very fast progress on your hike. I guess it really depends what you are looking for on the WHW: The challenge of walking many miles in short time or experience the Scottish landscape as much as you can. I was looking for the last, I took my time, sometimes very short sections of just 10-15km and see and enjoy as much as I can.

    i remember when in one of the forests in south uk i seem to made my camp on the animal trail to water(thats what i understood after) i had a terifying encounter..
    it was very warm day, and i decided to sleep right on the ground in my bivy without a tarp. i fell asleep early but was awaken at 9 pm bcs of horrible sounds made by some animal..but it didnt sound like an animal at all to me then! first i thought it is some massive dog growling, but it didnt really sound like a dog either ,like it was some sound made by beasts from horror movies, it was super loud and agressive and creepy,i got out of my sleeping bag grabbed a knife and prepared to fight for my life, for couple of minutes i really thought this thing is comming over and i gotta fight. then when nothing came close i just scared it off by banging my pot. it was pitch dark and my headlamp wasnt strong enough to see far enough in the bushes , so i didnt see anybody. later on i assumed it was probably a deer. now it s funny to remember that story. but back then it wasnt at all as sounds that thing made were so horrible and agressive.

    Great advice we did it the end of March beginning of April best time not so many on the trail and as you said midges could spoil the trip.
    We took the high trail and will definitely do it again maybe taking the low road, think West Highland Way could become addictive. 👍

    I did the low route a few days ago. It was so scenic. The night before I camped in Garadhban forest. I had seen this video and having done the less interesting higher route previously I was inspired to do the low path. It didn’t disappoint. Camping spots were abundant. I was exhausted by the time I stopped.

    Hi Red Man, I'm planning on mountain biking the west highland way at the end of June, for the ease of it I will probably take the high road as it looks like the low one might involve a lot of carrying the bike. How is the section after where the two paths meet, is that challenging terrain as well?

      @redmanwalking74  Před 2 měsíci

      To Inversnaid Hotel it's not too bad. Some points you might need to shoulder the bike. Watch Rab Wardells world record video. Might give you a better idea of what to expect. I've put the link below. Enjoy the adventure. G ❤️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Great information. Thanks. We were suppose to hike it this year but I broke my leg. We are going to try again next year. I think with my recovering leg we may still take the high trail. If I understand correctly there is still quite a bit of scrambling along the Loch to do after the paths join up.

    • @redmanwalking74
      @redmanwalking74  Před 10 měsíci

      The bottom path is much more undulating but very doable. If you're recovering from a leg injury the top path is a much more straight forward affair. Enjoy the trail and thanks for watching. ♥️

      Hi Dear, I hope you are doing well. I am a CZcams video SEO expert. I was analyzing your CZcams channel. I am really impressed by your videos, but your CZcams channel has some issues. You have made many videos, but your CZcams channel is not getting as many views and subscribers as expected. Because you have no complete SEO for any videos, no channel tags, and no video tags, if you SEO your videos, your subscribers and views will increase, and your channel will grow. Your video quality is very good, but the channel is not increasing due to not doing video SEO. By doing video SEO, the channel grows faster. I can help you if you want.@@redmanwalking74
