The Women of Pragati

Handmade soaps, keychains, coasters, pen stands, laughing Buddha figurines, animals, home decor, wall hangings, flowers, and much more are more than simply products; they are a tribute to the collective resolve of women who have opted to pave their way to financial independence.
These are the women of Pragati Mahila Udyog Samiti, who decided to come together to leverage their creative expressions and build a career.
Pragati Mahila Udyog Samiti is a self-help group who have earned recognition for bringing a contemporary twist to tribal and indigenous products of decor and art.
Established in 2016, Pragati Mahila Udyog Samiti comprises a group of 20 women from Tirildih, located about 60 km from Jamshedpur. They receive regular trainings and workshops on emerging high-market value products.
Earlier this year, they also set up a stall at the esteemed Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, making their debut in a big urban market.
