Wow. I was just looking for a Pipple and Noist of 120MV! What a lucky coincidence.
Personally, I wouldn't use a unit with a Pipple and Noist of less than 145MV!
Unless, of course it has a properly rated Cathermin tube with an indium complex of +4 ;)
Word!
My Interossiter has tighter tolerance than that. But I only use it to heat cocoa, and dry underwear on of course.
Char... soon? Unfortunate implication in the name there. Reminds me of the "ultrafire" 18650s.
Hhahahhaha!!!! fucking funny bud !
Meanwhile you can even get fake ultrafire 18650 batteries, called "ultrofite".
Sam Seriös UltraPanic sounds like a Ska band.
Be a great name for a solar powered barbecue tho'
Haven't watched the video yet - waiting for the low resolution version to arrive.
Dude - first "bang good" then "char soon" ;)
My ffirst step would have been: kill the beep :D
I can't find a settings option to kill the beep - looks like you're stuck with it :)
Julian Ilett Desolder the transistor which swiches on the beep. :D
Yup. That's one annoyingly noisty beep.
That's never stopped a man with your talents before Julian! Out with the soldering iron. :)
No need - blu tack over the buzzer works as an attenuator :)
Loved the review! Gotta love the Chenglish manuals.
Ok, that great combination of 'demon core' and 'rubiks cube', they should patent that.
After 15 minutes I fell into a deep sleep, but really, so much fun, beep me awake, thank you
Looks like something from Space 1999. shame about the loose screw.
totally thought it was an Eagle when I saw the thumbnail, damned clickbait :(
....... Commander Koenig used this to charge his shaver.
(module 3 powered the Moonbase Alpha defence shield )
'Pipple and noist' ah the sign of quality ;-)
"Pipple and Noist. Quality goods, since 1825"
beep
Back in the early 80's when I got into RC we used to pay a hefty premium for pipple like this. We gave up trying to get noist. Just too expensive back then. :)
Nipple and Moist, sign of Porno..
Only 120,000,000v of pipple and noist though...
I don't think I'd trust this enough to leave it alone.
Just how Soon will it Char?
It's O.K; it will beep just before it chars.
It will tell you when. It tells you everything. Didn't you see "Char" in the display? (Screen 4).
Really neat charger Julian, thanks for the video I will be hunting this charger down for myself =)
Looks like a nice charger. I really like the touch screen interface.
Julian: Excellent review. You really explained everything about these products in great detail. My only question would be as to the longevity of these modules but...probably, no one knows yet.
why is the cuality setting onli 1080p and you can't change it?
18:50 It seems to store the selected mode for each module in the module itself. After plugging in the 3S, it switches directly in storage mode again. Nice
this one stands out Julian.& sorry to go back tin history to your other videos but my MPPT 30 solar charger is working to parameters against the you tube odds!!
I don't think the firmware is buggy; when you first attempted to change the charging mode from charge to storage, touching the icon did nothing, touching the label changed it. When you attempted to change the charging mode back to charge, you only touched the icon, until after unplugging it and plugging it back in the second time, you touched the icon first which did nothing, then you touched the label space and it changed.
Be nice if there was a total draw summary. I think there is an FW update noted on the website already. not sure if you included that
I wish you connected a yzx studio USB monitor to check the accuracy of the USB charging. Could be way off...
ok. neat piece of multifunction kit.
thanks for the posting sir.
That DC adapter specification was epic 5:09 :P
Thank you for taking the time to do the video reviewing the unit, I have some questions:
1. Is it possible to update the software when newer versions are released?
2. Could you run multiples of 1 unit on the controller like 2 USB and 3 of your "unit 3"?
3. Do you think one could run the unit off a 12V battery in a case when one was to go camping and want to charge batteries?
Thank you for your time, I look forward to your reply.
i can't watch the video, somehow it's only available in 1080p and my isp says no to that :(
Is there going to be a lower res version of this video or is 1080p going to become the standard? On a quota'd connection a couple of these video is going to kill. Come of Julian - sort it out.
what if you plug the lipo not all the way to the right? i'd imagine that happening if you don't pay too much attention. will it simply not work or will something bad happen?
Hello - Do you have a D-Cell and are you able to charge you LiHv batteries up to 4.35V? I just got this thing and it stops charging at 4.2V even though I have it set on LiHv! Help!
when its all plugged in and you want to change from storage to balance charge try pressing the word "store" not the symbol next to it?
Does the amount of pipple affect how soon it chars?
Do you have to use the mains unit, or could you have used your solar?
The names is great! Its gonna char pretty soon!
So to make one of these all I need is a demon core, a rubik's cube and a magic core CPU then make a pie filling with it? Sounds easy enough...
Julian. The only resolution for this is 1080p something has gone wrong with the lower resolutions being an option.
Could you mess with XBees? I want to use one but I want to know how they work first.
All kidding aside, that looks like a really cool unit. Or "Units". :-) It looks like a spaceship like you might see in a futuristic space type movie. I love it.
This is really cool. Overly complicated and I don't need it for anything, but still really cool! I just hope they iron out the bugs.
I dont know if you know it ...or maybe Im wrong..but all the time it seemed like it was in the STORE mode..or on the display, top right corned it said STO...is this right???
thanks for the look! also, funny when it was unboxed and accidentally dropped onto the table..... and then a rattle was noticed in the unit ;) but thats not my concern. (also im half german so notice all that stuff.) keep on tubing dude!
Any possible chance to get a tear-down of these charsoon units? I'm curious about how safe and stable they really are. Obviously the price and features, relative ease of use make it a huge desire. But... it seems kind of iffy for something i'd leave a bunch of lipos on for a few days.
Could you have two USB modules on this at the same time for a total of 8 ports?
5:42 the Demon Core was a lump of plutonium in the 1940s that nuclear scientists kept irradiating themselves with. Its genuinely worrying to see it being used to make battery chargers.
Lol
BEEP BEEP BEEP! I would put a piece of tape over the buzzer right after I got the case open.
The first thing I would do is desolder that damn beeper.
Besides a possible QC concern and a loss in translation, this product I see some potential in.
The Hubsan X4 batteries use a Losi Micro T male connector, also known as a Molex 51005-2P I believe.
Could you just load it up with two or three of the USB modules? Could save me from having a tangle of wall warts and power strips.
Only available in 1080P .. that sucks. Guess I'll wait for the DVD :-(
Why can't I adjust the quality. In Chrome it's stuck on 1080p and it keeps buffering - I can only afford cheap internet -, and it IE it's stuck on 360p so I can't full screen because it's so fuzzy. Other YT vids quality works fine.
Julian Thanks for sharing this with us.
Too bad you did not have one of the USB voltage/current display devices to stick in between the unit and the power bank to see if the 5V was true or not. But at 12v 10A the power supply I would think it should be able to supply some power. It does need an "OFF" setting for the nasty beep sound it makes.
19:50 This connector diagram seems backwards to me. If you look at the grey area as a connector representation, the positive side is on the bottom, yet you plug it in with the red wire (assuming that's positive) on the top.
"products [the chargers] made from a mix of demon core and rubik's cube"
Does the volage display the volage going out of the Module to the part or the voltage if the part?
One Question is voltage on these connectors on the side to connect the modules. Can you short these contacts to get a viable Electroboom episode?
So they number the small battery charging ports as
1,2,3,
4,5,6,
but the USB ports as
1,2,
4,3.
WHY???
Looks quite snazzy and I like the modular aspect. I think I might have a punt on one with the balance and USB modules.
But the killer feature for me would be if they released a module that could handle cylindrical cells in both NiMH and LiON (AA/AAA and 18650s and smaller). Although I already have devices for that and for LiPo/FE/etc balance charging, it would be cool to have a master unit I could permanently install and then mix-and-match cubes to charge any battery.
It LOOKS like a nice unit and awesome idea. More modules for more types of batteries would be great, though the interface needs alot more work, like not being able to even select the 6S battery charger module when no battery is present. My suggestion just have the modules do everything a 6S charger can do, or the 2S module there is no way to set the currents? 6 soon charred lithium cells...
Yeah definitely some annoying bugs there. Here's hoping they continue doing FW updates and fix them
That 'biasing to the right' is an accident waiting to happen.
Julian, I wonder if it was using the same settings for the 150mAh as for the large 1350mAh pack!!! You mentioned it's charging at a large current of 400mA, and it may be my imagination, but it looks like it puffed up during the charge.
The display and font is gorgeous. Whoever designed the case and font was a fan of "Space 1999" or "Star Trek" .
Can you use two of the first sections with the balance lead plug to charge 2 6s at one time?
It seems like it would be well-suited to having a little bench power supply module. Clearly the software can handle that sort of thing. Function generator, too. Maybe even some kind of logging multimeter module.
do they not do a liion 18/26650 module too? would kinda make sense to lol
im just wondering if it would be possible to charge a 12s lipo with 2 #3 modules and obviously you would have to change the balance connector for 2 >6s connectors on the pack, as chargers over 6s are difficult to find so could be quite useful for this if it can be done ;-)
Why is the only quality available 1080p? Guess I'll have to watch at home :/
From the video it looks like the charger fried that 1S lipo cell. Watch from 25.15 to 27.00 the cell looks to have inflated during the charge cycle, Your observation that the charge rate is too high would appear to be correct.
Tried to download the firmware for this, to see if there was an newer version than on your unit. But windows 10 didn't like it (or Windows defender), and deleted the zip file.. hmmm.
If it had a boost module with a variable output and current controller it would be a nice power supply.
Interesting modularized power pack. After seeing the different modules plugged in and the display/command module recognizing them and displaying specific info for that type....sentence too long...I wonder why someone hasn't come up with something like this before
I don't know what Pippe and Noist is, cause all I was thinking about was Moist Nipple. Anyways, that thing looks pretty cool but seem it would be better suited as a portable device. I can see just attaching the module you need on the go. For none hardcore flyers who don't take their entire setup with them.
But how accurate are the current and voltage readouts?
Just what I need for my Moonbase Alpha Eagle!
You might want to take a Geiger counter to the thing, the demon core doesn't play around.
uh...... try plugging the battery pack in and maybe it will allow change the charge mode with the other modules plugged in
Mode A=charges by what you set the charging current to, mode C means charges according to what you set the capacity to (1500mAH=1.5A (1C) charging probably)
Would have liked to see a short circuit test on those USB ports
I'm using an iPod 3rd gen the picture is great can you shut off the beeping I guess I could use my iPhone 5s but why I don't need 4k for a review video
to time 6:52 Li is Lithium, Fe is Ferrit aka iron in periodic system. I'm shure you'll correct it in a text at the time 6:51.
In accu systems mainly means LiFePo aslo lithium ferrit polymer type.
I wonder if 03 is stuck on store because it's not plugged in so it can become functional? Remember it wouldn't switch to that bank until you plugged a battery into it?
what a crazy device. I guess it takes a bit to get the hang of it. But seems very flexible
Would love to see a teardown, at least of some of the units
+1 for a teardown.
Tzadvantage Bkk +1
that is a handy little charger. That would be nice to have.
Thank you. Amazing device.
Good honest review Julian, but that seems like one over-complicated, buggy shamonkee, I'll be steering clear. (though I'll click a couple of links if that helps)
Pipple and Noist, that's some Ashens grade material right there... I extremely curious how these kind of mistakes happen. Did the factory just hand someone with no experience of latin alphabet a sheet with specs and ask them to typeset it for the label? Did the typesetter look at a QWERTY keyboard and went with letters that looked close enough (R -> P, e -> t)? But uppercase E looks nothing like uppercase T... Some sort of on-screen keyboard?..
My first idea was that they spelled it wrong intentionally for not making any real statements about the device performance, therefore dodging lawsuits.
Did somebody say gadget? :D Looks awesome, just watching through now!
Julian, can you put a link to your powerbank? Thanks.
Could you do a teardown?
It would be very interesting
Does char soon mean just that ?
1080p only ? I have been trying to watch this for over an hour.......zzz.
Pipple an Noist has to be my favourite engrish to date!
To change mode:- Press on the word rather than the symbol???
thanks a lot julian. now I want to buy more stuff
Strange that this requires the pairing .. should have buttons on the modules so you can quickly select the ports to display/control.
Fun to use, and nice to see at work.
aside from the shotty power supply and the screw this looks like a well thought out product. anyone know if i can direct connect this to a 12v car battery? I would like to use this and a couple of the 6 cell modules to charge my lipos from solar.
In modern world there are so many things that needs to be charged... One big charging station like that one would really clean/simplify the wiring mess.
Modularity is also nice; No need to pay to get support for batteries/gadgets one doesn't use and no need to pay for 12V power supply, if one already owns decent one.
Price is also reasonable. Thanks for sharing!
6s balance charger cell A needs a 12v fan added to it I cut a hole in the top for bigger fan works a treat with good balance connection for bigger battery packs
Yea.... Think I will be sticking to my iSDT SC-608....
I love this kind of stuff, I bet this gets the views
So this thing chars your batteries soon?
Julian, would it be too much trouble for me to ask you to enable other resolutions? While I'd love to view this in 1080p my bandwidth only supports 480p. You see the cable company can't be bothered to tie us in so we're stuck on ADSL over a long distance. The end result is that we get 1.5mbps on good days which is barely enough for 720p. I don't mean to complain really and I'm sure you didn't do this on purpose. It's just that I really do like your content and it's best viewed uninterrupted by seemingly endless buffering.
+ExStatic Bass It doesn't look like CZcams is going to continue processing this video. It's too late to delete and re-upload it now, so this video will only be 1080p I'm afraid 😨
It looks like they put a lot of time into the visual design, because it looks great. That beep is horrible, but I guess if you were in a noisy environment with this, it would be useful. For people in quiet bedrooms or just quiet homes, I think a "tick/click" sound or even just a lower/deeper frequency would be far better sounding. Unfortunately I don't have a use for this item, but if I did, I think I would buy it, because it looks incredibly useful and very stylish.
Unbelievable! It remind me of the old joke about a guy at a patent bureau, "yes mister Brown you've made a better mouse trap, but could please explain the purpose of the nuclear warhead to me one more time" . Horrendously over complicated to the point of being unusable. You shouldn't need multiple PhD's to use a goddamn battery charger.
If the input is 12v can you power it from your battery bank?
Yes, I forgot to mention, the input voltage can be 11v to 18v
Now I must open a pub named “The Pipple and Noist“
