    I’ve got a few creeds, but this dry down on my skin is just absolute perfection. The harshness in the opening goes away and becomes sweet but not sickly sweet. I can’t even describe it other than just perfection. Amazing projection and silage with longevity. Amazing scent.

    Bois du Portugal by Creed. Now you're talking my language Marcelo. I enjoy this scent a great deal, but in cooler/cold weather. Like others have said, maybe this one skews older and won't find its way into many nightclubs. Another one from the house of Creed which makes me feel ten feel tall when I'm wearing it. Like you, Bois du Portugal also reminds me of my father. If he could afford this one he would've worn it for sure. Classic fougere "barbershop"/clean cut experience here. Thanks for showcasing this underrated gem.

    • @TheNicheFragranceCollector
      @TheNicheFragranceCollector  Před 2 lety +2

      Yep this is a pure winner. Whether you enjoy this fragrance now or in years to come; it will remain a classic wonderful masculine scent. Interestingly my sons love wearing this one and they're respectively 27 and 23....and it suits them, they wear it well (so a younger man can do it)

      It's funny because your wife is right; it does have that 'yester year man' vibe to it. But it's not a random 'old man', it's actually our fathers, so yeah, like you Tim I love wearing it....to think that our kids will smell this and in future years will think....."hey this smell reminds me of my old man"😂😎. Great to hear from you mate!

    Bois du Portugal is SERIOUSLY great! Most kids label it "dated", the "old man in a barbershop", but for me "dated" is an asset, not a liability. "Dated" is classic. And Bois du Portugal is the SMOOTHEST fragrance I've ever laid my nose on. And one of the most elegant. That old man in the the barbers chair is Frank Sinatra, or Cary Grant, and when he gets out of the barbershop he's on his way for an elegant date at a 5-star restaurant with Sophia Loren.
    I wore this wood-forward fougere a few Sundays ago and it lasted all freakin day long. It's my favorite Creed and 3rd favorite fragrance ever. And the less expensive near-clone Lalique Pour Homme lion is great too. Fantastic treatment of this classic masterpiece, thanks!

      @TheNicheFragranceCollector  Před 2 lety +2

      As I was putting this episode together, I was thinking "I wonder what James is going to say about this one??" Being that I knew you're on the offical "Fougere Taskforce" I was making sure to treat this one with love and care (not hard to do, on the count that it's an awesome fragrance....but still! I knew you'd be on it)
      I love how you turned a negative connotation of 'old man' to the coolest cats in Hollywood...who doesn't want to be as suave as Frank or Cary, hanging out with Sophia (forget about it!!)
      Thanks for sharing James, appreciate your comments and love your passion for all things Fougere.....I promise more is coming your way with other line ups planned on this theme (speak soon mate)

    🇮🇹Grande Marcelo! you are my favorite YT fragrance reviewer. Here in Italy almost all reviewer and people are always in FOMO about new overpowering fragrance brands , criticizing Creed everynowandthen... ( you can find discount in italy and find creed at really good prices, not far from Montale eg) . As you and Josh, i think Creed have countless man masterpieces: i own BdP, Royal Oud, GiT , Erolfa, OV and so on... ( actually ghost perfumers like bourdon and rasquinet, which made Royal Oud and Enclave, are a plus)
    Another great house is Amouage (Enclave and Memoir Man are those i own, altough more difficult to wear "daily") .
    Creed makes fragrances that are never been overpowering, altough i've got many compliments with : GIT, BdP, Aventus; Aventus Cologne ; SMW. also with Amouage Enclave
    Greetings from Rome

    One of my favs but not one I reach for often. It make me think of a gentleman in a boardroom, a scent with gravitas and if you don't have the character and presence to pull this off it seems like the scent is wearing you and not the reverse. 2 sprays max for me on this, but most fragrances tend to project very well on my skin. Thanks for the review!

    When I first tried BDP I didn’t like it and washed it off within five minutes. I kinda cheated my self. I was going through my samples and tried it again, this time I let it dry down…and fell in love. So much so that I went to a respected dealer on eBay and bought two 120 mil bottles. There’s no performance problems with those. Two sprays and I’m good for 8 hours.

    Damn, I'm in my early 30's and I wear the crap out of BDP. @Marcelo, I own a 2018 batch, so you could say it’s recent? I do appreciate you can get batch variation due to the higher content of the naturals and that it’s subject to they quality of the harvest from any particular year. I guess that’s why Creed were proud to state Millésime on some of their batches / bottles, as a statement to attest the highest quality. My bottle doesn’t quote that, but I can tell you that the quality and performance is astounding! I’ve received many compliments and also complaints from my wife when getting home from work that it’s too strong and that’s coming from just 2 sprays 10hrs earlier! It is a fantastic fragrance and one of my favourites!

    Perfect Explanation NFC! As I commented on one of your other videos, I wear Bois when I’m feeling very confident, as maybe even a bit arrogant. You have to check all the boxes when wearing this Masterpiece: groomed, dress shoes, slacks, blazer, time piece, men’s jewelry accessories. This is not a sneakers and jeans/sweats fragrance. You don’t wear this for compliments, this is to be worn to let others know that they are in your presence.

I've since had a few more wearings to see if my mind would change but I only liked it more and more, the quality is just so top notch. I do understand how it would be perfect for a certain kinda guy, but unfortunately I’m not that guy! I do possess other heavy-hitters which do the job better on my skin. Firstly, I have to totally agree with Epic Man as a classic masculine scent....as the name suggests this fragrance is 'Epic'.
      And yeah, I get it when a fragrance doesn't connect. I struggle with Silver Mountain Water. I want to love it because everyone talks about it, but so far, it doesn't resonate with me at all.

    I absolutely love Bois du Portugal. By far my most favorite. It projects far better than Green Irish Tweed -- on me--
    I find myself feeling “comforted” when wearing it and yes, I’ve had several compliments and ladies & gents asking me, “ what cologne I’m wearing”
    I would love to find another creed that is similar to this, but distinctly different.
    Had a hilarious awesome/creepy couple sniffing my neck in the line at Bank of America.. lol.

      I actually think that's an awesome compliment that someone is trying to sniff your neck😂; clearly they wanted to make sure that it actually was you!
      Other great, but different Creeds to Bois du Portugal would be:
      Viking
      Aventus Cologne
      Silver Mountain Water
      All three of these project well and are quite distinct.
      If you want to try something different but similar in the fresh, masculine 'Bois du Portugal' style, then I would recommend to you Epic Man by Amouage. Really impressive fragrance, with the difference that this one now projects a lot stronger (no one will need to smell your neck, they'll pick up the fragrance as soon as you walk into the building)

    The projection and longevity of my bottle of BDP mirrors Marcelo's, and would be curious to know the batch of his bottle, and how long it has been since first spraying and getting some oxygen in there. I bought a new bottle of 2019 batch (19R01) three weeks ago, and it smells great, but is pretty tame when it comes to performance. I tried 2 sprays at first because just about everyone on fragrantica or basenotes indicates that it's pretty beastly, but that has not been my experience yet. Even test strips that I've sprayed don't smell much the next day. Maybe this one gets a lot stronger a few years after spraying some juice out of the bottle, and would be unsurvivable in three years if it wasn't a bit weak upon first spraying.

    • @TheNicheFragranceCollector
      @TheNicheFragranceCollector  Před 2 lety +1

      Great to hear from you @Dustin and interesting that your bottle is performing in a similar fashion. My son has borrowed my bottle (after he watched this episode felt the need to come around and test again😂) so once the bottle is back I'm going to check the batch number on this one and share here.
      One thing that I know of other big house's (Amouage, Nasomatto) that because they're using good quality oils, the longer that you let the juice mature in the bottle the deeper the scent becomes....so hoping this is the same for my Creed's

      The only point that I need to make is that unless the fragrance has a heavier note (ie Oud) then it won’t go into ‘Beast Mode’ and last till the next day. The above mentioned fragrances don’t have Oud but they have woods in the base (cedar wood) or ambergris which helps to prolong the fragrance.
