  • Bois du Portugal is in my opinion the of the best Creed colognes. It is timeless, aromatic and gentlemanly. Whilst I was visiting the beautiful country of Portugal I decided to review this beautiful scent. I hope I also manage to convey the beauty of the Algarve in Portugal.

I’m so glad this isn’t a very popular Creed fragrance or fragrance in general because for me this is the best from Creed, second being Spice & Wood. In fact this, alongside Enigma by Roja are my two favourites. This being the bitter woody scent and enigma being the sweeter yet equally amazing scent

Frank Sinatra wore Bois du Portugal, say Creed? Let's think about this for a moment. Sinatra was born in 1915; Bois du Portugal was released in 1987, so Sinatra would have been 72 years old when he first had an opportunity to try it, decades after he was at the peak of his creativity and popularity.

Late to the party, my favorite from my creed lineup. Such a beautiful fragrance. This is the grownup, dressed to the nines, subtle, charismatic gentlemen. Sometimes I spray this over molecule 01 and it works wonders. BdP reminds me of a refined TF noir EDT taking into account the way the citrus accords are utilized. Always enjoy the content, wonderful review. Cheers mate🍻

  • @DWdawgable
    @DWdawgable Před 4 lety

I understand why people consider BdP dated but I agree with you that it's classical and traditional. Not dated. I'm only 30 years old and I absolutely adore this scent. It's one of those fragrances that make my eyes roll back whenever I smell it. The bergamot, lavander and sandalwood are just soooo well blended with the ambergris. I could wear it every day, regardless of if some people find it old smelling. It has unexpectedly become possibly my favorite Creed of all time. Arguably their most slept on scent.
I have tried Lalique PH, which is supposed to be very very similar. I tell you, it is not. It's got the same kind of scent profile and a lot of the same notes but there's no depth. BdP, like most Creeds, smells exceedingly natural and luxurious; Lalique smells cheap, synthetic and one dimensional. Simply can't even compare them.
    Great review!

I'm 40-something and this scent is my #1 for fall and winter daytime / office. Has grown to be one of my fav scents period. Just tried Alexandria's slightly more modern, very slightly sweeter version and recommend for price. If I was in UK or Europe, I'd collect a lifetime supply of the real thing. After watching this I fancied trying it. Out shopping with daughter I found myself in a store with a Creed counter, so I wandered over to see if they had a sampler for Bois du Portugal - they did! Great. Just as I was about to spray it onto the tester slip, three female sales assistants swooped onto me and began peppering me with 'what size would you like?', 'how would you like it wrapped?', 'would you like a gift receipt?', 'can we interest you in the box set?' and about a dozen other bothersome questions which totally transformed what I'd hoped would be a nice experience ( possibly resulting in purchase) into a shambles I could not get away from quickly enough. I just put it back and walked away. Maybe some other time.

Just got a 5ml sample of this and wow. The ambergris is present from the very beginning which might be off putting to some but the naturalness of it is wonderful. The way the ambergris is used reminds me of Initio’s Magnetic Blend 1, an ambergris bomb. I agree it’s a classic style fragrance but it was 1987 but definitely not outdated.

This together with Viking (my favorites) is prolly the most maquline ones from Creed.
This is prolly the only creed that performs well (viking and the other creeds I tested performs pretty poor, projection is ver weak)
This scent also for some reason reminds me of my passed father, no idea why. Not a bad thing tho, its cozy.
Btw Royal Oud reminds me of a luxury toilet in Dubai (ive been there and it reminds of that LOL)

Great video and congratulations to your sister. BDP is my favourite Creed scent. Nothing beats how this makes you feel when you are wearing a suit getting ready to go out somewhere posh, but can also work in the office (but go easy on the trigger!)
Pocket Scents Lisboa is inspired by BDP and they have nailed it, I can't really tell any difference on a side by side comparison, BDP is possibly slightly smoother, but no one would ever know.

Chris, I am BLOWN AWAY by this video. What in the world is your day job? Cinematographer?! Now, this fragrance is beautiful and very well made, but as someone much older than you it brings to mind something my father wore in the 60s and 70s. It just doesn't feel modern to me but I certainly appreciate your view on this. And congrats to your sister!👰🏻

It's a beautiful fragrance, first time I smelled it I was blown away, it was a lovely Green soapy fragrance and I was instantly taken to a barber shop who wet shaves, so beautiful...atb Lee

Great review, Chris! Love BDP but it is a bit dated. More specifically the opening (reminds me of Paco Rabane’s Pour Homme openning a little). The dry down is to die for! I wish Creed did a cologne update of this instead of Aventus :(

Great review of this atemporal gem! It's funny tho how reviewers think this was Sinatra's signature scent and no one really checks when Sinatra lived. All the best to your sister! Cheers!

I checked. Died 1998 so could have been his signature for the last ten years of his life.

@@FRAGMENTAL Highly unlikely for a guy who had fame and fortune his whole life to choose/change his signature scent in his 70's. That's how urban legends are born 😉.
