  • In this episode of 'Dialogue', Mr. Sujit Nair engages in a discussion with Mr. Sanjay Jha, an Indian author, politician, and former national spokesperson for the Indian National Congress (INC) party. In his book titled '2024: India In Free Fall', Mr. Jha contends that India is currently in a state of Free Fall. With elections approaching, he highlights pressing issues ranging from the marginalization of Muslim minorities and the infringement upon citizens' rights and residences, to the secretive erosion of the judiciary and the unchecked rise of crony capitalism and plutocracy, exacerbating income inequality.

Blaming someone is so easy and this rule is widely followed by all of us after Indian independence. First we elect them, then we tolerate them and finally we blame them for all our failure and disappointments. Actually it’s us who owe this responsibility to justify our actions and letdowns. It’s very easy to put the blame on someone who is in power and we run away from our own responsibilities by doing that.

I appreciate the commitment of Mr Sanjay Jha to Congress & its ideology, which still ties him to the Congress regardless of the fact that he is an ex congressman unlike the Ayarams gayarams !
Likewise we who grew up right after we got our independence and with allgience to Congress, that some of us like Mr Jha can't think of anyone else!
You are so right, the day the PM talked about Congress Mukt Bharat...the INC should have taken that as a challenge and made a war cry .... for Democracy ! Hopefully, Congress & Mr Jha you will continue fight the good fight ! Jai Hind.

We elected one party to govern us after Indian Independence. It’s justified up to some extent due to the minimal awareness about our fundamental rights, legal rights and economical resources. We kept on electing same party for decades and then blame someone like a poor fellow of that party (right now) for our own fate.

@@TechWizardGinu Who is the present ruling dispensation now? Who is answerable to the people of India right now. Who took an oath that they would govern the people of India well. Who has killed the spirit of India by spreading hatred between communities. Who is called the Butcher of Godhra? Who built a temple by demolishing a mosque? Who has gone for useless show off projects while ignoring the poor. The list is endless. You better listen to Mr. Jha again and again till you understand everything and are sufficiently informed.
Do we still have desperate and shameless partisan crowd of Hindutva leaders who tell the people "Hindu Kathare Mein Hai'. What is this Hindu Rashtra thing. Will we all have to go the Pakistan way? Will a handful of fringe elements call the shots. Will they have special trains run especially for them to take them to all their pilgrimage places. Will their gods take care of India after that? Will we be told what we should not eat, dress or be entertained, by a people who are stuck in a mediaeval anachronistic time warp. How come the first thing these kind of people do if they become rich is to imitate the very people who they had a pathological hatred earlier. How come they mock their less fortunate brothers who are stuck in the same position? Do we continue to dance to the whims and fancies of such people when there is their type of crude and useless government.
Do we still have primitive and backward people
who are called bhakts who will still mindlessly and stupidly vote for the BJP and keep the country on square one.
Our country started off with begging bowls but thanks to the Congress who brought it to where it is today. What has the BJP done on the other hand. It has done nothing. Let alone something special. All that the BJP has to do was to take advantage of the momentum generated by the previous government. Their so called developmental work is no big deal. It is a part and parcel of day to day governance. If at all the BJP government did something, it was only and only for show, and even that little has been nullified by the bad it has done by way of irreversible damage to the psyche of the country. Thanks to the BJP, we have communities living in constant hatred and dread. If a country is to be called a good nation we need peace and harmony. There is always another day to make up for the material success of India as success is inevitable when there are sufficient funds in its coffers.
The BJP is nothing but a wannabe party that just had to jump on the jaggernaut which was already rolling in the right direction. All that the BJP did was to take advantage of the momentum generated by the Congress and make a big tamasha. The BJP is only a hot air balloon full of bakwaas. They only generated slogans after slogans and filled the stomachs of the stupid andh bhakts like a sausage machine with slogans. The only thing that Modi is giving is a guarantee on his sausage filling machine in the future. This is the last chance the people of India have now. It will be too late. BJP has already put us on the start of this slippery slope. We need real leaders with real Statescraft. We need true Statesmanship and not poster boys and cult leaders like Modi.

Very good research by Shri Sanjay Jha and Sujit ....Congress must reinvent itself...i told and message many times to align with middle class and workers....send the right kind of message to the voters and be with them all the time because you have to do that while in opposition because you dont have other jobs to do? why cant you utilize this time for the last ten years?

Think that Congress will still be in opposition as long as the Gandhis give up their entitlement. Yes their grandmother and father were killed but they were also in power for their own egos.

    I. N. D. I. Alliance , unfortuneately is an amalgamation of Political Regional Parties , which do not have Common Agenda , with the Congress leading the Opposition to uproot the Leadership of PM Modi.
    This Discussion is exemplary .
Congress Party has got " INDIA IN FREE FALL " Opinion openly expressed by the Political Economist Parakala Prabhakar who is the Husband of India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman.

Sanjay Jha hit the nail on the head. India saw some real wealth creation during Dr.Manmohan Singh’s time. That led people to expect more. The then opposition sold dreams to the thirsty youth. Hope is a good breakfast but a bad dinner.

Congress believes in Slow n steady Development but the current goverment is emphasizing on fast Development but with crony capitalism leaving behind socialism and increasing the gap between poor n rich and majoritism emphasis obviously.
Mr. S Jha is a man of integrity n honesty and he shuld b respected for it for following his ideology without being like some spineless politicians who change sides at the drop of a hat.

An excellent interview. It has been stupid of me to have missed your programs in last few months. Every organization has its low times as well high times. So has been problem with Congress, specially when top leadership does not want to change, or give way to new talent. But strange, how people can change their loyalty and ideology. Gaurav Vallabh joining BJP is simply hypocracy, that too from a mgmt professor, at its best. We have always liked Sanjay Jha Sir, and our respect for him has grown because he has not changed ideology. An excellent book by him. Congress seems to have become so monolithic that a new inexperienced Rahul could not be expected to change things, just as Rahul alone cannot be expected to challenge a dictator like NM. Good the whole country seems to be now agreeing with what Rahul had been so unsuccessfully trying to say all these years.

Sanjay jha , like all right minded people, is pained on the release of the rapists of Bilkis Banu but I want to know what he has to say on the release of Bitta Karaate, a kashmiri militant responsible for killing 2 dozen innocent kashmiri pandits, during the UPA rule. Did he raise his voice, at that time, against Aunty Sonia, who was remote controlling Manmohan Singh's govt.

Very good talk. It is true the Opposition particularly the Congress is unable to take on the BJP inspite of the ruling party's omissions and commissions on very many issues. The truth is that the Congress is not able to get its act together because the government' under Mr. Modi is insensitive to critism with the RSS and its musclemen always ready to use their massive power to silence the opposition. Another thing is with its leaders drawn from the BJP, which has no exposure to democratic functioning, democracy for the BJP is just a stepping stone to capture power and is not an ideology to be practiced in governance.

The theory of democracy is that the people know what they want and vote for it they deserve to get it good and hard. Unfortunately our society may be feeling good about trying to put down on community. So nothing will change.
