I've been listening to Bing sing this my whole life....including today...and it still brings tears to my eyes. Bing owns this song, his rendition, his alone
I agree with 100% I get very sad thinking about years gone by and the people no longer with us.
No other song, NO other song, creates a feeling of better times such as this.
AMEN BRO!!!
A feeling of longing after better times....
@@emtube9298 so true.
Honest to god...every time Bing starts singing this song, it gives me a chill.
Ive made a tradition of only listening to this version of White Christmas once per year on Christmas Eve and every single year it brings me to tears.
Although this year has failed to bring Christmas spirit, it has once again succeeded in having me ball my eyes out before I shut my laptop and sleep before midnight.
If you're reading this, Merry Christmas!
I love this version as well! My dad passed away this last August from a stroke, he was 84. November 18 th., mom and dad would of been married 64 years. But with that said, and he is missed greatly! Another year closer to the return of Jesus!
I hope this year will be better for you and yours!
Merry Christmas!
back again x Merry Christmas 2021!
Merry Christmas from Portland Ore 12-24-2023❤
Bing was the greatest crooner of them all. And when his time came he made the perfect exit from this word, on a golf course in Spain 1977. Thanks for the magical interlude Mr. Crosby 🎄🎄☃️🎁
Now, that is what you call real songwriting, real arranging/orchestration and real singing. Gosh, I miss music.
I maybe a millennial but I know how you feel! From my perspective, real music peaked in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s. I discovered this classic as a high school grad.
The man's tone is phenomenal.
Bing was a total perfectionist, like Astaire for dancing.
The first time I heard him sing was Icabod and Mr Toad
I don’t think many people realize that this is where the song debuted for the first time
thats because of the black face scene in my opinion. this otherwise brilliant film gets swept under the proverbial rug and doesnt get airplay during the holidays.
@@lawrencebraun99 Yeah, & due to the blackface scene, I can kinda see why
@@lawrencebraun99 Yup, I'm sure that's why it doesn't get played anymore. If TCM will play Stormy Weather, blackface routine included, they can play White Christmas.
@@joewhitehead3 yawn
@@lawrencebraun99 And the irony is that that scene celebrates the end of slavery. So, yeah, blackface might be dumb, but people should grow a pair, and start enjoying this wonderful film!!!
The one and only Bing Crosby 👌🏼Nobody but him makes Christmas feel like Christmas as it should be 👍🏼🕯👏🏼👏🏼🕯🕯
Such a lovely voice. No matter who sings this today they’ll never top the original
I’ve heard plenty of good covers
Such a great song and such a lovely scene. Many thanks to Universal for posting this. It's a treasure. A bit of trivia: notice the fire in the fireplace flames up at the end of the scene. That was an accident. The assistant off-scene was supposed to turn down the gas slowly but accidentally turned it up.
one of my favorite Christmas songs Bing does a wonderful job so does Marjorie Reynolds.
I watched Holiday Inn every November and December. And this is my favorite movie.
Every time I here him sing that song it brings me right back to my childhood at Christmas time.
I love White Christmas and Bing Crosby.
What a beautiful song....... always I have loved his songs. Just extraordinary.......😁
I love White Christmas and Bing's version is the best (still). Still bring a tear to my eyes.
The greatest singer of all time
So handsome and charming
@@annienord7203 heck no

@@annienord7203 gorgeous man.
@@edvanlee1968 What happenin' if they three sing together?
R.I.P Crosby, Sinatra and Elvis.
This is one of my many favorite scenes in this wonderful movie! In this case, even though Bing Crosby sings it BEST, I think Marjorie Reynolds sings it very well!!!
She was dubbed by singer Martha Mears.
@@2Uahoj But Reynolds is still lovely to watch and does act the scene very well. She reminds me of Sandra Dee. I don't think this particular audio recording can be surpassed either. Musical magic.
This is the version where he sings the "to know..." in a fifth interval. I like that better than the "to know..." that goes down one step.
My favourite Christmas song ever !!!! 💖
I love how it hasn’t even hit Halloween yet, and now I’m falling back into Chrismas music, such a warm feeling in my chest 🥰
I don’t know if you listen to him at all at any other times of the year, but you might like some of Bing’s other non-Christmas stuff that’s like this. I’ll Be Seeing You is a similar type song.
September/October is the earliest I try to get myself into the holiday spirit
Before I saw this movie 🎦, I thought that White Christmas 🎄 was just a beautiful carol. But after this, I see this song as a romantic song! 😍
Yeah, it's romantic/comforting/wistful, and as a nice touch it also has sorrow - he's wishing for these nice times, implying that life is currently not like that
The song first started becoming a smash hit because American overseas soldiers in WW2 heard it on their radio and flooded the radio station with requests for it. The song really resonated with them - they missed their home
This is one of my favorite movies. And this is my favorite version of the song😉
One of the many movies my dad and I would watch during the holidays growing up. My wife and I have kept the tradition for 28 years ourselves, same movies, and they never get old. My dad's been gone for 5 years now, and I get choked up when I hear Bing crooning this song. Christmas was his favorite holiday- he was the central organizer for our family growing up. My wife's mom was his counterpart for my wife and her dad....and later myself . We lost her last year......I'm at that point in life where Christmas will never be the same, no matter how hard we try. But there will always be the memories, and Bing Crosby singing White Christmas to cheer me up🙂
I’m sorry for your loss
Bing is just FANTASTIC
The first time I heard him sing was Icabod and Mr. Toad
@@manuelorozco7760
That sounds interesting. I don’t recall that.
@@buckjohnson1119 He was narrating Sleepy Hollow
@@manuelorozco7760 Oh, Okay. I don’t recall seeing an animated. I remember Toad from Wind in the willows with Charles Nelson Reilly as Toad. A great classic. Was that in the early 70’s? I would have liked to have heard Bing narrate.
@@buckjohnson1119 It was a Disney package feature from the year 1949
I love the part where he taps the bells with his pipe!
Such a beautiful performance, the best. This song heralded the start of Christmas Day in our house when I was a child, as my father was a massive fan of Bing.
Dude's pretty good. I think he may be going places.
Yes ! definitely a great young prospect
My favourite Christmas song and favourite Christmas movie. Yes, it does touch in the other holidays, but it's really about Christmas at the beginning and end. And Mr Astaire dancing with firecrackers.
If Die Hard is considered a christmas movie then I think we can call Holiday Inn a Christmas movie.
I first saw this in the middle of summer right before 4th of July
So beautiful. Sheer perfection.
The ultimate Christmas song
My favourite Christmas song 💖
I watch a lot of movies. Over 250 a year almost and I think this is my favorite scene in all of them
I can’t count how many I watch a year myself! Counting rewatching stuff I’ve seen in years past
This is and probably will always be my favorite Christmas movie. I know it's technically an every holiday movie, but I watch it every year on Christmas

Without a doubt the best version of White Christmas there is. Just perfect, a classic! Thanks for sharing this! If I ever feel down or stressed, listening to this makes things better...
First Christmas song to win an Oscar
Really?
@@Thomas_H._Smith Yep
I’m even surprised it won over Love Is A Song from Bambi
Bing Crosby loves to whistle
Always brings back great memories !!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I believe for a long time this was the biggest selling single.
Indeed it was...then some pesky dude named MICHAEL JACKSON and his “Thriller” came along and the rest is history
@@willdrucker4291 Actually it is still the best selling single, however the album Thriller, in claimed sales, surpass it. Even then if we go off of certified sales for Thriller, White Christmas still beats it.
@@willdrucker4291 untrue it was it was Elton John Diana version of candle in the wind
Never saw this actress before, Marjorie Reynolds, but wow she was really pretty.

I have never realized that.
This song is over 80years old now but nobody sang White Christmas 🎄 better than Bing Crosby. He was one of the most successful crooners of all times but as a father and family man he was less successful having two sons who shot themselves unable to navigate life, RIP 🙏 Lindsay and Denis Crosby 🎭🎨
sad to hear that.
Beautiful !🥰
I saw this movie Holiday Inn before I began school and was enamored with it and especially the song. I later saw the Movie White Christmas. This version made in Holiday Inn is the best rendition of White Christmas ever.
Very Classic
Cena impecável! Música então nem se fala! Irvin Berlin maravilhoso e interpretação a altura da grandeza da obra!
It maybe November! But it’s not that early for me to celebrate Christmas. I’ve seen White Christmas more times than Holiday Inn! But Bing singing White Christmas seals the deal. And the lyrics couldn’t be timelier with what the world has become in recent years.

Really great song
Bing Crosby was my favorite singer ...
This scene was from "Holiday Inn" (1942).And although we see Marjorie Reynolds singing, she is just lip syncing to the real singer who was Martha Mears. The song that would become the biggest selling record in history was written by the prolific Russian Jewish immigrant Irving Berlin. Though he did not celebrate Christmas, it was a day that held special meaning to Berlin, who had spent each Christmas Day visiting the grave of his late son, Irving Berlin, Jr., who died at just 3 weeks old on December 25, 1928.
The first time Bing sung this he said to Irving Berlin: "I don't think we have any problems with that one, Irving." Understatement of the 20th Century.
What a voice, Bing and Frank were my favorites at that era.
Wow, now THAT was beautiful.
Correction: "performed as a duet by Bing Crosby and Martha Mears"
White Christmas has stood the test of time very well and never grows old.
Bravo!
Bing Crosby Great Of All Time🥰
Love this song only by Mr Bing Crosby!!❤❤
It’s not a White Christmas without Mr. Crosby 🎄🎄🎅🤶

Bing's son Dennis killed himself after getting a divorce, and never quite recovered from his brother's death.
