@@artificialplanet1540 The only part that sounds a bit like a mosquito is when he uses the whammy bar towards the end. Other than that the playing is flawless with perfect timing and soul. I've been playing guitar for 25 years so I know exactly what good guitar playing is. I actually prefer Mac's lead playing over his lead guitar player from what I've seen so far. He is way better than what I expected!

Unless you mean stage antics, in which case that is part of showmanship, although his stage presence is a bit uncomfortable imo but that is taste. Ultimately it is more to do with people just accepting any piece they are told is good as good, without using their ears. I mean, just listen to those bends, painful to hear...

If you only enjoy artist if their “chops” pass some kind of muster that must be pretty miserable. It’s reasonable to like music that isn’t technically difficult or epic compositions. BTW I don’t even like Mac demarco (don’t dislike him), couldn’t name a single song but I think that was a fairly good lead
@@onesixfive Some people need a little more in there music, sometimes listening to music with only "one speed" gets boring. Great music doesn't always have to have great chops, personally I think a cool song with some serious chops makes the music a bit more exciting. This video is kind of like reverse inspiration, his playing doesn't inspire me to play because it's good it inspires me to play because I know there's many ways to make this sound better.
What are you talking about? Musical chops (musicality) is the ONLY thing that matters in music. Through this solo, Mac is showing excellent musicality. This solo to me is just perfect in any sense, he is playing the right notes with the right timing, in the most soulful way. And this is not coming from a fanboy, just from a passionate (25 years) guitar player. I just discovered him a few days ago
