Aquarium Filter Not Working? HELP

- Aquarium filters usually stop working due to having debris stuck in the filter impeller. Try removing the intake tube and seeing if you can remove the debris from the impeller. Sometimes if you run water through the impeller or just try to clean it that will help fix your filter. Sometimes small pieces of gravel or sand gets stuck into the intake and find themselves in the motor impeller which stops in the filter from working.

Another reason your aquarium filter isn’t working is because the motor went completely bad. This sometimes happens on filters and there’s not a whole lot you can do unless it’s rebuilt. Most of the cheaper aquarium filters can’t be rebuilt because it’s all in one housing.

You saved me! I know nothing about these tanks and my husband got one for the kids, he's working and I had to rely on the internet for help. I was all done and the pump didn't work! I poured water in it like you said and now it's working. Thanks so much!!
Almost threw my filter out thank you so much it was my intake tube 100% I literally moved it half a inch down and it immediately started working 😅 definitely should’ve kept the instructions lol
Thank you! I got my old marineland model (like in video) going while I'm waiting for parts for my Fluval 206 when it started to leak. Just a little vaseline on the impeller and extra priming to get it started after sitting for 3 years.

I recently bought a fluval chi tank...I put it together rocks water decorations etc ..this is a very different filter than normal I turned it on the worked the filter is not working at all it's not pumping so I called Petco every Petco in a 75 mile radius they do not have any anywhere..so now I'm stuck with a tank that is completely setup and not working...they don't even have one available for shipping...89 dollars on Amazon I can't afford that any idea to fix this filter please
Okay I'm not entirely sure how these hang-on-back filters work but I assume something to do with a magnet? Is there supposed to be some sort of little propeller down by the motor part of the filter? IDK I got one at a thrift shop it's not working so yeah, is there supposed to be something spinning??

Ok I have a brand new sussun hang on filter doesn't want to suck or spit out the water I did everything fill the chamber up with eater etc. any reason? thanks
It's a brand new topfin filter and it has power but it makes a loud rattling noise and doesn't suck the water into it, it came with the 37 gallon tank all from petsmart in the box but nothing you covered seemed to be the issue and I'd really dislike replacing a brand new filter that that never got used

I just got a Top Fin PF40 and it's not working, I can hear the impeller spinning and I've primed it by filling the back and watched so many videos and just can't figure out why it won't start pumping out the water

Do what he said about putting Vaseline on the inpeller. Mine spinned and it sounded but didn’t suck the water. I put Vaseline all over it and it worked.
