As a mom of boys, I made sure my middle schooler, the oldest, understood periods. He knows that a lot of his female classmates will get their period during the middle school age. I have given him tips on what to do to avoid the embarrassment of a girl that may have a blood stain on her bottom or drop a pad/tampon. He knows to be discreet when letting a young girl know and to be prepared to offer walking behind her until they get to the restroom. He knows that it is a private matter that only she needs to be made aware of, if necessary. It’s important to teach my boys to be gentlemen young. LOVED this episode!!!!

In terms of periods, I think letting the child know before hand probably lessens the anxiety for everyone. I think it’s important that we become their primary source while they are vey young but also that we raise them to be inquisitive and to know where they can find valid information.

I'm so blessed to have a mom that was super young when she had me. She basically learnt how to take control of her life whilst teaching me along the way not to make her mistakes. She spoke to me about everything and showed me real life examples. A phenomenal woman she is to me and my younger sister. Our best friend. She had my godmother as well who played an integral role in my upbringing. She was a woman of god but she kept it real with me and for that I'm forever grateful. My dad passed last year but his usual talks about life in general really prepared me for life and still resonates. I was raised in a family and community that showed so much love and care to me was remarkable.
Watching this makes me emotional...my mother passed away when I was nine...I learnt everything on my own through my friends...my grandparents in the old generation never spoke about these things...I love u guys...
I’m super open and honest not just with my daughter but also my sons. I show them there are no gender roles. As a human that’s going to grow they need to the basics of life. I love this conversation and this channel ❤️❤️❤️

I remember being scared to use tampons and most recently was turned off by the cup and now that I've tried the cup I can't go back and hope my daughter loves the cup as much as I do when the time comes. So important to have these conversations with our kids and so crazy to see how much has changed regarding these conversations as generations pass. Love how relatable your content always is

I’m living for your channel! My mother is very much “old school” born in PR to a strict mama just like Nilda’s & titi Fugi & never had the conversation with me neither or showed me how to properly care for myself during my menstrual cycle & im only 28! Thank god for older sister, who taught me all I know now. I am now breaking that cycle & teaching my girls as they go along. What a beautiful episode!!💜 I got really emotional (In a good way) I just lost my grandmother December 2021 at the age of 90. When I was a child we would sit at the kitchen table and drink coffee. It was there she shared all her wisdom. Sometimes you get so lost in grief that you forget and this episode reminded me of that… Thank you!!

I love watching Claude and Co. and this was a wonderful topic, my growing up was similar to Lana, we just didn't talk about those things but I am glad I can have open conversations with my girls.
Oh my goodness, this was such a great conversation! My mom had previously spoken to me about getting a period, but she never showed me how to put on a pad. Unfortunately, I was at my dad's house the weekend I got my period for the first time (I was 9 years old). I remember shouting from the bathroom that I got my period, I was very excited. My dad just walked into the bathroom, looked at me, made an odd face, said nothing, and then leaves the bathroom. Seconds later my stepmom walks into the bathroom all while I am still sitting on the toilet. My stepmom simply gave me a pad and pointed to the back of the box and said, "just follow the instructions," then processed to walk out. I remember sitting on the toilet reading the back of the maxi-pad box like, "I don't get it." Long story short, it took me about five minutes to put on a pad for the first time and I still didn't put it on right lol. Needless, to say that all my excitement about getting my period went away the moment no one fully thought me how to put on a maxi-pad. Forever, I wished I would have gotten my period for the first time at my mom's house.

Absolutely loved this episode and hearing how everyone’s family handled different situations, it’s sooo relatable and no one talks about it!!!! It actually gives me ideas of what I want to do and what I don’t want to do for my future children!! I also loved that Lana joined in in this conversation because it’s so interesting to hear about other cultures and how they raise their children!!! My mom felt the same way as Lana’s mom in regards to tampons. I had to learn how to insert one from my friend’s mom because I was at a pool party and I wanted to swim with the other kids. I was 16 or 17 at that point! My mom is a nurse (idk if that’s her reasoning) but she always educated me on everything womanhood so it was no surprise to me when I actually got my cycle. Looking back I really appreciated her openness because I was never blind sighted! I use to hate it growing up because I felt like it was TMI lol. More episodes like this 🤗. Love you guys 💜💜💜
Great episode! As a kid I thought I was dying , my mom never told me about this and had my older sister tell me what was happening, but the poor girl barely new herself what was going on 😆. I am now open with my little girls about what to expect but I do admit it is hard because I didn’t have a good example of how to talk to little ones about these things . I love this. I was 17 right before my 18th birthday when I started. I too thought tampons would take my cherry away. My friend from the outside of door told me how to put it in when I was ready. My family is Puerto Rican and no one talked about that or sex. School and friends taught me everything. Now, as a mom of two beautiful girls, I talk about EVERYTHING! I admire how you raise your girls. Love you guys. ❤️
We have to give it up for those moms who really sit down to have a conversation with young girl, and yes that myth is still alive, even tho is not true, it still exists. My mom has always been so open about everything, and I love that. These videos are so good, this should be a Netflix show for real, these little topics are the ones that help young adults like myself to look at older people differently and to understand their perspective on things. I was a 80’s kid and got my period around 1988 or 89 and I had no idea what a “ PERIOD” was. My Black American mom or aunties told me nothing about this. I was so ashamed/scared. I will NEVER allow my niece to be shamed by something so natural and beautiful. My mom eventually sat me down and gave me the real, but still this talk should had happened way before 11 or 12 years old. I do not have a daughter, but I have a niece and I plan to make it a normal, beautiful conversation for her. Great conversation and Happy Mother’s Day!! 🌹🫶🏾

Love this episode. It is good to have this conversation. I wish someone had those conversations with me. I learned in school,but I think they talked about periods. These conversations definitely need to happen with both boys and girls.
These generational episodes are amazing! I love them so much! There was never a conversation about birds and the bees, periods or menopause. All that was said was don't bring home any babies. My Barbadian mother and grandmother never told me what any of that stuff was. I remember having a session at school when I was 11 and this nurse came in to tell us all about it. They told the boys to leave then the nurse explained about reproductive systems and having a period. I felt like that was too late as there were probably girls in my class that had started their period already. I learned about sex from novels and the Internet. Let's just say I had a jaded idea of what it was. I really wish I had that kind of relationship with my mother like you did Claude. I really love the relationship between you and your girls as well! Your mother and Titi said it best about the generations above learning from what their parents did wrong and doing better with the coming generations
My mom taught me a lot of these things through books and I always thought that was weird uncommon so it’s nice to hear other families doing this as well
Such a great episode! I have absolutely heard that virginity myth with tampons when I was growing up. Heard it from friends at school. This is such a great conversation to have and it really is interesting hearing woman speak about their experience when they first got their menses.
This channel is amazing, loved this conversation. As an African I never had the period conversation with my mom, raising my own girl differently by sharing and preparing my girl too for when it happens.
Love this! I was 12 years old and it was the 4th of July. My family always went to this big historical park where there was food, games, a parade, etc. I went to the bathroom and saw I had started my period. Thankfully I knew what this was since my mom had talked to me about it and I have an older sister. I whispered to my mom what happened. She, my auntie, my grandma, and sister all hugged me and congratulated me. I was a bit mortified. They also scrounged me up a pad to go put on. I remember how boys would act like it was disgusting as I grew up. I have a daughter and son and had a talk with them when they were young to normalize it so my daughter was fully informed and not scared when it happened to her. It’s very normal in our house now. The whole family knows when I or my daughter has a period, we don’t shy away from saying we have cramps or anything, and my hubby or son don’t cringe at all at the thought of going shopping for feminine products. Raising our son to appreciate women and all we go through! Unfortunately I’m currently dealing with crazy fibroids (43 yrs old), and in the hospital overnight a few weeks ago for crazy bleeding and huge clots. Another thing I wasn’t warned about! I have an MRI tmrw to determine if I qualify for a UFE or if not have to have a hysterectomy. Again, the whole family is very aware and this is normalized. I think the more information our daughters and sons have about what we each experience, the better. It helps them appreciate the opposite gender and to empathize.
I loved the conversation and definitely agree that as parents we should do our best to inform our kids about the things they will/may experience in life. I was raised by my father so unfortunately he wasn't really able to teach me about puberty for a girl so I've learned things the hard way.

Loved this episode! When I first got my period, I was 10 years old (my mom never talked about, learned about it in school) & was yelled at by mom. (It was a month before my sisters quinceanera) looking back it was a traumatic time for 10 year old me, but as an adult I could understand my mom now. She was stressed with what we had going on in life that she didn’t want another thing to worry about.
This is great. I don’t see people being as transparent and positive as you and your family are. I hope you can continue on your journey to tell your stories. Thank you. Also, I am 44 years old and I was told by my mom at 12 years old that tampons take your virginity too. I believe women passed down what they were told generationally. When you know better you do better.
Aww! This episode made me a little emotional; this is my first Mother’s Day without my mom and so seeing you guys talking with your mom and aunt made me think about my relationship with my mom. It’s so funny how intertwined cultures can be. Being a Black woman from the south I can relate to all of those stories from my mom not really talking to me about getting my period (I was about 9 when I got mine) to my mom not really having the talk with me, I’ve even heard about the tampons thing, accept I heard that they were for women who were having sex LOL. I can even relate to Lana in not being close with my mom when I was younger to her becoming one of my best friends. I also love how loving Mama Nilda is and her loving and accepting spirit. I pray that you all cherish the time you have with your moms. Claude, I’m 100% sure your girls will grow up to have a close relationship with you because of how open and honest with them you are. Oh man we could talk about this stuff all day! I can definitely relate. Grew up in the Caribbean, in a very strict religious homeand cetain things were just not discussed! So if I have kids I plan to be open.
I cannot believe Mama Nilda and I have a similar story 😆 I remember I was 10 years old playing TAG at the playground with my friends during recess. After recess, our teacher takes us to the restroom and I remember wiping myself and seeing blood. I freaked out but tried to keep calm because “surely” it was my fault. I was known to be traviesa so I didn’t want to disappoint my mom by telling her “creo que me lastime cuando me cai” y mi mama preguntandome “y parque?…y Para que estabas jugando si se supone que estabas en la escuela”. That evening, I noticed the blood was still there and thought to myself “well like any wound, I’m sure it will go away. Tomorrow should be a better day”. Well it was no surprise that the next morning it was still there lol. I felt hopeless, told my mom, and she became emotional. She said “Ay mi niña, perdoname. Se que te lo hubiera explicado mas pronto . Mira te enseñare como ponerte esta tuallita. Hablaremos de esto cuando regreses de la escuela. Te quiero mucho y porfavor perdoname”. I was like hmmmm ok 🫤 (so confused lol!!!!). Back story: my mom got her period at 13 and thought she had a little time left before we had the talk. I love her and understand why she didn’t tell me sooner. Needless to say, I made sure that My little sister who is 11 years younger had a completely different and positive experience💗🥰

I’m 22 and my mom had me when she was 39 so I relate to this heavily it’s actually been on my mind recently so it’s crazy that this was the new episode! I love my mother to death but she didn’t tell me anythinggg. Now we have conversations about it and she definitely understands how it could’ve really made a difference. Her mother never told her anything either so she didn’t think she had to. Definitely a generational thing. I only knew about getting your period because my older sister got hers. She didn’t know either she hid it from my mom for days cause she didn’t know what was going on. One if the things I really wished she had talked to me about is boys. All I knew is that she didn’t want me near them😂 which of course made me want to. At 22 I’ve made a ton of mistakes when it comes to guys because I just really didn’t know and went off of my friends in high school😣 knowing what I know now about virginity, love, relationships, trust etc. I would’ve done a lot of things differently. Sometimes I beat myself up about my past mistakes but I’m happy I learned from them and will definitely talk to my future kids about all of this

My mother is very much “old school” born in PR to a strict mama just like Nilda’s & titi Fugi & never had the conversation with me neither or showed me how to properly care for myself during my menstrual cycle & im only 28! Thank god for older sister, who taught me all I know now. I am now breaking that cycle & teaching my girls as they go along. Thank you for these videos because it’s so unfortunate that it isn’t talked about enough. I love you guys!

What a beautiful episode!!💜 I got really emotional (In a good way) I just lost my grandmother December 2021 at the age of 90. When I was a child we would sit at the kitchen table and drink coffee. It was there she shared all her wisdom. Sometimes you get so lost in grief that you forget and this episode reminded me of that… Thank you!!

My mother did give me the talk and covered it all, so I was not caught off guard but like many....my grandmother did not extend the same services rendered to me. I love watching Claude and Co. and this was a wonderful topic, my growing up was similar to Lana, we just didn't talk about those things but I am glad I can have open conversations with my girls.
Oh my goodness, this was such a great conversation! My mom had previously spoken to me about getting a period, but she never showed me how to put on a pad. Unfortunately, I was at my dad's house the weekend I got my period for the first time (I was 9 years old). I remember shouting from the bathroom that I got my period, I was very excited. My dad just walked into the bathroom, looked at me, made an odd face, said nothing, and then leaves the bathroom. Seconds later my stepmom walks into the bathroom all while I am still sitting on the toilet. My stepmom simply gave me a pad and pointed to the back of the box and said, "just follow the instructions," then processed to walk out. I remember sitting on the toilet reading the back of the maxi-pad box like, "I don't get it." Long story short, it took me about five minutes to put on a pad for the first time and I still didn't put it on right lol. Needless, to say that all my excitement about getting my period went away the moment no one fully thought me how to put on a maxi-pad. Forever, I wished I would have gotten my period for the first time at my mom's house.

But ohhh nooo about your first experience with a pad 😔… you just made me realize that I don’t think my girls know how it works either … see what sharing does?! You don’t think about that… well I sure didn’t think about it. She’s seen me do it but they may not realize how it actually works and where to put it.

I absolutely love all your videos and share them with my mom and family often. I am positive your girls will have a wonderful experience with such a great mom to look out for them.
Absolutely loved this episode and hearing how everyone’s family handled different situations, it’s sooo relatable and no one talks about it!!!! It actually gives me ideas of what I want to do and what I don’t want to do for my future children!! I also loved that Lana joined in in this conversation because it’s so interesting to hear about other cultures and how they raise their children!!! My mom felt the same way as Lana’s mom in regards to tampons. I had to learn how to insert one from my friend’s mom because I was at a pool party and I wanted to swim with the other kids. I was 16 or 17 at that point! My mom is a nurse (idk if that’s her reasoning) but she always educated me on everything womanhood so it was no surprise to me when I actually got my cycle. Looking back I really appreciated her openness because I was never blind sighted! I use to hate it growing up because I felt like it was TMI lol. More episodes like this 🤗. Love you guys 💜💜💜
Great episode! As a kid I thought I was dying , my mom never told me about this and had my older sister tell me what was happening, but the poor girl barely new herself what was going on 😆. I am now open with my little girls about what to expect but I do admit it is hard because I didn’t have a good example of how to talk to little ones about these things . I love this. I was 17 right before my 18th birthday when I started. I too thought tampons would take my cherry away. My friend from the outside of door told me how to put it in when I was ready.
My family is Puerto Rican and no one talked about that or sex. School and friends taught me everything. Now, as a mom of two beautiful girls, I talk about EVERYTHING! I admire how you raise your girls.

We have to give it up for those moms who really sit down to have a conversation with young girl, and yes that myth is still alive, even tho is not true, it still exists. My mom has always been so open about everything, and I love that. These videos are so good, this should be a Netflix show for real, these little topics are the ones that help young adults like myself to look at older people differently and to understand their perspective on things. I was a 80’s kid and got my period around 1988 or 89 and I had no idea what a “ PERIOD” was. My Black American mom or aunties told me nothing about this. I was so ashamed/scared. I will NEVER allow my niece to be shamed by something so natural and beautiful. My mom eventually sat me down and gave me the real, but still this talk should had happened way before 11 or 12 years old. I do not have a daughter, but I have a niece and I plan to make it a normal, beautiful conversation for her. Great conversation and Happy Mother’s Day!! 🌹🫶🏾

Love this episode. It is good to have this conversation. I wish someone had those conversations with me. I learned in school,but I think they talked about periods. These conversations definitely need to happen with both boys and girls.

These generational episodes are amazing! I love them so much! There was never a conversation about birds and the bees, periods or menopause. All that was said was don't bring home any babies. My Barbadian mother and grandmother never told me what any of that stuff was.
I remember having a session at school when I was 11 and this nurse came in to tell us all about it. They told the boys to leave then the nurse explained about reproductive systems and having a period. I felt like that was too late as there were probably girls in my class that had started their period already.
I learned about sex from novels and the Internet. Let's just say I had a jaded idea of what it was. I really wish I had that kind of relationship with my mother like you did Claude. I really love the relationship between you and your girls as well!
Your mother and Titi said it best about the generations above learning from what their parents did wrong and doing better with the coming generations

Such a great episode! I have absolutely heard that virginity myth with tampons when I was growing up. Heard it from friends at school. This is such a great conversation to have and it really is interesting hearing woman speak about their experience when they first got their menses.

This channel is amazing, loved this conversation. As an African I never had the period conversation with my mom, raising my own girl differently by sharing and preparing my girl too for when it happens.
Love this! I was 12 years old and it was the 4th of July. My family always went to this big historical park where there was food, games, a parade, etc. I went to the bathroom and saw I had started my period. Thankfully I knew what this was since my mom had talked to me about it and I have an older sister. I whispered to my mom what happened. She, my auntie, my grandma, and sister all hugged me and congratulated me. I was a bit mortified. They also scrounged me up a pad to go put on. I remember how boys would act like it was disgusting as I grew up. I have a daughter and son and had a talk with them when they were young to normalize it so my daughter was fully informed and not scared when it happened to her. It’s very normal in our house now. The whole family knows when I or my daughter has a period, we don’t shy away from saying we have cramps or anything, and my hubby or son don’t cringe at all at the thought of going shopping for feminine products. Raising our son to appreciate women and all we go through! Unfortunately I’m currently dealing with crazy fibroids (43 yrs old), and in the hospital overnight a few weeks ago for crazy bleeding and huge clots. Another thing I wasn’t warned about! I have an MRI tmrw to determine if I qualify for a UFE or if not have to have a hysterectomy. Again, the whole family is very aware and this is normalized. I think the more information our daughters and sons have about what we each experience, the better. It helps them appreciate the opposite gender and to empathize.
I loved the conversation and definitely agree that as parents we should do our best to inform our kids about the things they will/may experience in life. I was raised by my father so unfortunately he wasn't really able to teach me about puberty for a girl so I've learned things the hard way.

Loved this episode! When I first got my period, I was 10 years old (my mom never talked about, learned about it in school) & was yelled at by mom. (It was a month before my sisters quinceanera) looking back it was a traumatic time for 10 year old me, but as an adult I could understand my mom now. She was stressed with what we had going on in life that she didn’t want another thing to worry about.

Also, I am 44 years old and I was told by my mom at 12 years old that tampons take your virginity too. I believe women passed down what they were told generationally. Aww! This episode made me a little emotional; this is my first Mother’s Day without my mom and so seeing you guys talking with your mom and aunt made me think about my relationship with my mom. It’s so funny how intertwined cultures can be. Being a Black woman from the south I can relate to all of those stories from my mom not really talking to me about getting my period (I was about 9 when I got mine) to my mom not really having the talk with me, I’ve even heard about the tampons thing, accept I heard that they were for women who were having sex LOL. I can even relate to Lana in not being close with my mom when I was younger to her becoming one of my best friends. I also love how loving Mama Nilda is and her loving and accepting spirit. I pray that you all cherish the time you have with your moms. Claude, I’m 100% sure your girls will grow up to have a close relationship with you because of how open and honest with them you are. I can’t wait for the next episode!

Oh man we could talk about this stuff all day! I can definitely relate. Grew up in the Caribbean, in a very strict religious homeand cetain things were just not discussed! So if I have kids I plan to be open.
I cannot believe Mama Nilda and I have a similar story 😆 I remember I was 10 years old playing TAG at the playground with my friends during recess. After recess, our teacher takes us to the restroom and I remember wiping myself and seeing blood. I freaked out but tried to keep calm because “surely” it was my fault. I was known to be traviesa so I didn’t want to disappoint my mom by telling her “creo que me lastime cuando me cai” y mi mama preguntandome “y parque?…y Para que estabas jugando si se supone que estabas en la escuela”. That evening, I noticed the blood was still there and thought to myself “well like any wound, I’m sure it will go away. Tomorrow should be a better day”. Well it was no surprise that the next morning it was still there lol. I felt hopeless, told my mom, and she became emotional. She said “Ay mi niña, perdoname. Se que te lo hubiera explicado mas pronto . Mira te enseñare como ponerte esta tuallita. Hablaremos de esto cuando regreses de la escuela. Te quiero mucho y porfavor perdoname”. I was like hmmmm ok 🫤 (so confused lol!!!!). Back story: my mom got her period at 13 and thought she had a little time left before we had the talk. I love her and understand why she didn’t tell me sooner. Needless to say, I made sure that My little sister who is 11 years younger had a completely different and positive experience💗🥰

I’m 22 and my mom had me when she was 39 so I relate to this heavily it’s actually been on my mind recently so it’s crazy that this was the new episode! I love my mother to death but she didn’t tell me anythinggg. Now we have conversations about it and she definitely understands how it could’ve really made a difference. Her mother never told her anything either so she didn’t think she had to. Definitely a generational thing. I only knew about getting your period because my older sister got hers. She didn’t know either she hid it from my mom for days cause she didn’t know what was going on. One if the things I really wished she had talked to me about is boys. All I knew is that she didn’t want me near them😂 which of course made me want to. At 22 I’ve made a ton of mistakes when it comes to guys because I just really didn’t know and went off of my friends in high school😣 knowing what I know now about virginity, love, relationships, trust etc. I would’ve done a lot of things differently. Sometimes I beat myself up about my past mistakes but I’m happy I learned from them and will definitely talk to my future kids about all of this
