EARLY ARRIVAL AT ATTIC FIRE - PLAINVIEW NY

At around 5:20pm the Plainview fire department was alerted for a house fire at 74 Hofstra Dr. At 5:25 a working fire was transmitted for a fire in the attic. Syosset Engine 585 got in first due and the fire was brought under control in about a half hour.

Just wondering why they didn't just back the rearmount up the driveway. It also would have been faster for two members to talk a 20' straight or a 25' portable to the 2nd floor windows, no? Not criticizing - just asking if it was considered or was the aerial use an SOP?

Driveways are not strong enough for the weight of ladder trucks. But...yes, there should have been ladders on those windows, and the guy on the nozzle on overhaul would have been better served using narrow cone fog than stream...
