Don't forget to check out Vic's accompanying blog about the Steyr AUG SMG here: armourersbench.com/2018/07/02/steyr-aug-para-9x19mm-submachine-gun/ Thanks for watching guys!
I'm surprised, but then not since its Steyr Mannlicher (though I really like their stuff), that they didn't make this use Uzi mags since so many countries and people used it and they would be much cheaper than proprietary mags.
LOUDcarBOMB My criticism of the 9mm AUG is similar to yours. The ability to use readily available 'off the shelf' mags such as the UZI would have been beneficial BUT the problem is the adaptor has to mimic the 5.56mm magazine which is thinner than the double stack, double feed UZI 'type'. As the Steyr MPi69/81 mag is a double stack, single feed narrower type and it is after all a Steyr product they stayed 'in house' for the magazine type. Vic
The Armourer's Bench. Really? The AUG magazines are more narrow than STANAG? The AR 9mm magazines are only a slight modification on the Uzi magazine, with the follower having a tab on the back to trip the bolt catch when empty.
The locking lugs of the barrel look somwhat off. Does the 9mm barrel lock behind the normal locking lugs? Otherwise the housing might not be the same as the 5.56 version.
Forestal Frank Yes, the barrel locks in the same location as the 5.56mm barrel. The barrel has a tab on it that prevents a 5.56mm bolts use though... Vic
Are you ever going to do a full dissasembly of the Steyr ACR? If not, think you could manage to do the FN FAL in .280 british? Sorry if i already asked you about the ACR, because i do not remember.
Interesting that it’s a dedicated stock/reviver yet they still designed a magazine adapter. Could you use an adapter and barrel on an regular aug stock as long as it was set for right eject?
You have to use the rest of the conversion kit along with the mag adapter, so barrel and bolt have to be changed but it was originally designed as a conversion kit for the AUG 5.56 rifle only later did they decide to make dedicated AUG SMGs. - Matt

Well today I learned that a 9mm version of the AUG exists, greetings from the Lonestar state of Texas.
Thanks for watching Benjamin! We have another video on a Stery SMG coming up soon actually.
Quite a few production standard 5.56 AUGs are right hand only with no left hand ejection port.
”Mpi“ (German/Austrian) is actually pronounced like ”MP“ (English). Just fyi

Thank you for a positively informative and very well made video.
Great video, very informative!
Also, is that a Wz.35 in the background? If so, I look forward to a video on that, as well.
I'm honestly more interested in seeing that Polish Wz. 35 anti-tank rifle behind you. ;)
We'll see what we can do! -Matt

Thanks Vic!
Is the front grip of the 9mm version fixed to be just vertical? I can‘t bring the front grip on my AUG A1 9mm in the horizontal position

Yes to both! Working on it, no promises yet on the .280 FAL but that is definitely on our list. - Matt
Looking forward to it!

Yes, you can and it has been done many times. Just get a case defelector (like Corvus Defensio).

First glimpses of the sucessor of the AUG 9mm SMG for the Austrian Police are out: czcams.com/video/qAhVfV1ocnY/video.html
It's an AUG gg^^
First comment goes to Austria!
Are you a British ex-pat living in Switzerland? Just curious. I'm a new subscriber. (Just now)
Hey welcome! No, neither of us are ex-pats. Both in the UK, just lucky enough to have access to some great collections over here. Enjoy the videos.
The Armourer's Bench I didn’t believe forearms like this were permitted to be privately collected in 🇬🇧
