Thanks for watching!
I can’t believe how much the “wait 24 hours” myth perpetuates to this day. Literally just this morning a coworker was crying because her 25 year old son who lives with her never came home last night and wasn’t answering frantic calls/texts. First time he’s ever done this. My boss actively discouraged her and said the police won’t even take a report unless it’s 24-72 hours because he’s an adult. I told everyone present that is a myth, if she’s genuinely scared and this is out of character, she should definitely at least call the non-emergency number. Everyone argued against me. Luckily her son did eventually call her and he was fine, but I couldn’t believe how quickly people discouraged this frightened mother.
I'm glad her son was OK!
I agree. There are so many people who stick to a routine and any deviation is a cause for alarm. It's almost like you have to tell the police an adult is vulnerable (like autistic) to get their attention. And teenagers, even if they did run away, they need to be found!
@@CarpeNutella this is what gets me about teenage victims! Especially nowadays when we know that turning 18 doesn't medically make you a fully cognitively developed rational adult - your brain is still developing and you can still be so so vulnerable at 18 or 19, people are groomed and taken advantage of at that age all the time, especially if grooming has taken place perpetrated by someone the person knew as a minor or began WHEN they were a minor (as in, the majority of cases when crimes against children occur - perpetrators known to them). So often we place trust in people that we really don't even know at that age, a male family member of a childhood friend for example, think of Ariel Castro exploiting the trust local kids would've had in him and even one victim being a friend of his child's. Not saying any of this relates to Rachel specifically but it just grinds my gears about young adult cases generally.
Saying someone is "just a runaway" is such bullshit because runaways are generally vulnerable.
It's just made up anyway, i don't understand why they get away with it. You can't just make up what happened to someone
exactly!!!
Even if she was “just a runaway”, FIND HER.
@@PoopiGirl.23 yeah, they don't have to tell the family where the person is if that person is safe and didn't want to be found
@@no_peace absolutely! It's an assumption based on little to no evidence and that's the opposite of how cops are supposed to do things.
This is from my hometown. My aunt and uncle went to high school with her. Thank you for covering this! This is the first time I’ve seen anyone with a large audience cover her case. ❤ Hoping her family gets the answers they deserve someday.
Oh wow, nice to hear from someone so close to the case!
I remember when they dug up a whole empty lot because there was a tip that she had been buried there, but in the end they found nothing 😢 I hope one day she is found and can be reunited with her loved ones, one way or another
The misconception about waiting 24 hours to report a missing person is actively perpetaluated hy law enforcement to this day. Do not buy it! This is the result of cops not wanting to do their job. If you suspect someone isnt where they should be, report it. If they brush you off, remind them that there is no law or policy requiring ANY waiting period, and insist they do their job. If they still refuse, contact a different department, try to contact the media, and let them know the police were shitty. Tell everyone about your missing loved one. You and your people deserve to be safe and sound where they belong, regardless of how motovated the police may be.
I'm glad someone shares unsolved missing person cases. Too often people go for big cases that are done and closed but get a lot views
hard agree- wish they got the veiws through
I was listening to the latest ep of Morbid (podcast) and Alaina talks about the fear of this very thing happening to her to the point that although she'd love to go for a run outside alone not only does she refuse to but her husband also says hell no bc of the fear/likelihood of her being abducted/harmed/killed by a man.
And b4 the not-all-men jump on this, we know "not all men" are dangerous but there's enough of them that we women cant even go for a fucking jog alone w/o fear of being abducted, sexually assaulted, and/or killed by one - just like what has likely happened to Rachel. I pray Rachel gets justice soon 🙏
I does seem she's been murdered aye. That's what I thought too and taken by a vehicle
What the "not all men" crowd don't think about is that we know most men are safe, caring, kind etc but it only takes that 1 outlier to cause you harm- and those men look (and often act) the same as averyone else. So you end up organising your life in order to account for the possibility of that 1 guy, who could be anywhere
it's so scary that we as women have to plan our whole lives around not getting abducted - I don't like my fiancee going out on runs unless it's broad daylight and even then I keep a close eye on find my friends 👀
@@HeySlothKid Yes!
not all men but enough that many of us live in fear of it happening to us, not all men but a good DOZEN of my close friends or acquaintances have been stalked, harassed, assaulted or abused by ex partners, coworkers, family members (including myself). Not all men but these men are everywhere, in every sector of the job market, in positions as high as head child psychologist (my abuser), pediatric surgeon (my friend's r-pist who I heard admitting to it), all the way down to regular guy working behind a computer in an office (my friend's dad), uni students (friends' ex partners), etc. But if course, "not all men" 🤢🤮 (not ranting at you but the earnest Not All Men idiots).
I remember when this happened. I hope her family gets justice. Every year when the anniversary of her disappearance comes up, the local news talks about it.
I'm so glad it stills gets plenty of local coverage!
This is my hometown. My brother graduated with Rachel. He has heartbroken when he heard, said she was the sweetest girl. There has been so little coverage of her case, it’s always confused me that more pods and CZcamsrs haven’t covered her. Thank you. ❤
I hope for her family's sake they do solve this case. I cannot even fathom how horrible the not knowing is in missing persons cases.
Right? I would be searching every ditch along every road, inspecting every stranger's face, get a flutter of hope every time the phone or doorbell rings, etc.. I can't even imagine living in that kind of limbo 💔
it's a limbo I can't even imagine being in, the people I've spoken to who are dealing with this exude strength and fight
you haven’t been on my home feed in forever!!!!???? or maybe ur videos are playing once i’ve fallen asleep bc i think i woke up to ur voice a few days ago LOL but now i get to binge watch a few videos 😍😍
Like this may well be one of those cases where they know who the perpetrator is, but can’t sufficiently prove it just yet.
yes!
I used to hang on a web forum called Forums for Justice, and I remember when Rachel first went missing. Her father advocated like crazy for her on the forums and was very interactive with the users there. In fact, recently I was going through an old box of papers and ran across an envelope that I had gotten from Robert with an old bumper sticker for Rachel (at least I think it was-I don't remember which box it landed in, unfortunately).
My heart breaks to think of the suffering the Cooke family has gone through since Rachel disappeared... and poor Robert leaving this earth without answers.
The lengths Robert went to to find his daughter breaks my heart, he fought so hard for her
Just joined. You are worth it.
The older I get, as young as I am, the younger college-aged people feel. Everyone deserves justice, but when someone is young something always feels different.
agree with this! I'm only 29 but 19 feels like such a baby, she had so much life ahead of her
Some of us older folks have heard of this case (mid 40’s here 👋).
50-something! :D
I'll never forget this case. So crazy how she was so close to making it home 😔
You are one of the few people who remind us about old cases and you do a really good job
thank you ❤️
This can be solved and it MUST be solved
I hope this young woman’s family do get their justice soon. It won’t bring her back, and it’s heartbreaking her father isn’t around to see the new leads, but I hope they get that finality at last.
Indeed, it seems that the police are probably close to finding the perpetrator or already know who the perpatrator is but still lack solid evidence. Thank you for sharing her story, perhaps exposing it might help solve it.
God, she was SO close to safety 💔
disappearances of young people like this always remind me of Sara Bushland, from near my hometown. In rural areas there are always so many "spottings" and rumors after the fact, and people always talk. Someone knows something. I truly hope someday Rachel's parents get their answers.
I hope this case is solved soon for Rachel and her family's sake
Thank you, Georgia, for another fascinating, informative video. Your content is always respectful towards the victims, taking the time to show them as individuals who had so much to offer the world❤
thank you so much, I really do try ❤
So sad
I'm really impressed with your research work, and your talent for telling a story. I've been following your channel for ages, and I just realized, I probably never told you this. Thank you for all the hours I have spent in your company. Looking forward to many more! ❤
thank you for the video and for shining a light on Rachel. hope that we get some more breaks in this case soon to bring her home
Wish the unsolved cases got the views they deserve 💛
Hoping the case gets solved eventually.
I found your channel during Co**d. I have been a big fan. Thank you for what you do.
I love your videos so much! You deserve all the love❤
Great episode.I hope the family gets some answers soon
thank you so much for all your hard work!
My pleasure!
I watch every video you post. Thank you for the work you do!
I appreciate that!
Amazing as always Georgia 🩷
thanks jacqui!
As I was listening, I noticed weird similarities between Rachel's case and the disappearance of Cindy Song. It's probably pure coincidence, but it caught my attention.
Great video as always!
Thank you!
This is awful. It somehow reminds me of Jennifer Kesse - I know the cases are very different, but just the workers in the area making a young blonde woman feel uncomfortable and then they’re never found. 🙁
I thought a lot about Jennifer Kesse whilst researching this!
I cannot wait to see a case update for this 🙏
Ok this might just be me but does it seem like most abductions of young women happen when they’re on a run
a lot do, yes! I don't let my fiancée go out running unless it's broad daylight and even then I keep a close eye on find my friends 👀
Ugh, runaway. If I never hear that word again it will be too soon.
I wonder if that false confession was truly debunked or if there's still a possibility.
I suspect there's still a possibility because they can't exactly *disprove* it, but they're looking into other possibilities
@@georgiamarie_ I guess his movements during the relevant time are untraceable. Frustrating, but they couldn't have brought him into the courtroom unless his confession was at least plausible.
Thanks!
Thanks
I’m not usually one to speculate about these kinds of things but I’m from a tiny town in southeast texas and in the last 10 years there was a serial killer living in this area. Since then he has been resentenced to life in prison. His name is William Greenwood or Bill for short. He murdered 2 women in the 70s on the highlands, TX. He was released some 20 something years later and since then his granddaughter became one of his victims not a murder, but complete negligence. I was friends with another one of his victims again she was not murdered. This reminds me so much of the way that he murdered the two women in the 1970s, as they were abducted from the street taken into his vehicle and strangled after being assaulted Apparently had kept one of them on his property for a short amount of time I’m not quite sure, and had her chained to one of the trees on his property. They were both discovered deceased on his property. At some point it just makes me wonder if he had any connection to this case because of the knowledge I have of him having such a close connection to him in the grand scheme he was a very good traveler. He went everywhere as many times as he wanted to and I wonder if one day he was just in that area and this could’ve been something he did. Obviously, this is pure speculation. It’s just a scary resemblance to the cases that he’s been convicted of but another point is that he has links to Texas killing fields, which are another rabbit hole within themselves.
Hi Georgia!
My name is Hanna and I'm from Poland. I have been watching your videos for around 5 years at this point. I love the fact that you cover lesser known cases and spread awareness. I have watched every video. They are really amazing. After discovering your channel I have researched more into true crime. Can you cover some cases from Poland? On the side note I have been to London and it is beautiful, I hope I can return soon....Greetings from Olsztyn

I think the reason she disappeared is because of her ex-boyfriend.
Her ex-lover should be investigated further.
He may have followed her while she was running, or waited for her in front of her house, then killed her and hid her body.
Even if she went for a run, leaving her phone would seem strange, not saying there's no people who leave their phones but idk, his dad was the last one to see her. I'd start with him.
Now that you mentioned he didn't pass the polygraph, I'm concerned.
Some dads have SA their daughters and ended their lives before. Hope this wasn't the case.
He only failed because in his heart he knew she was gone
Phones were a bit heavier, etc so I understand not taking it but I don't understand waiting until the next day to go and look for her if you think she may have injured herself running.
You said whilst stating that Rachel went missing that something was wrong. Can all of us agree that that something is men? Is it wrong to want to fix men? Even if we support the Trans reality can we still try to fix those (an awesome pronoun in its own right) who self-identity as male?
How to go about ‘fixing’?
Huh? I agree that men are definitely a danger to women and that it's an issue that needs to be discussed, but AFAIK this case has nothing to do with trans folks. Why even bring it up?
