Love the little table idea. Most often that size is big enough.
Unless you use it a boatload, you can make the table from Aluminum. You aren't likely to wear it out.
So true, I find that to be my case as well 🙏🏻
that intro was 10/10. amazing. bravo. instant sub and nice saw upgrades
I loved the whale shout out. I watch his channel all the time.
Bad ass upgrades!
Love the Mods. All great ideas and well thought out. Now you just caused me more work for mine. Thanks Yuchol.
Thanks Randy, I am just trying to make sure you don’t run out of projects on your end 😁
yep- I now have a another project to start.
Took a while to get a round tuit, but built the table mod with 1/4" aluminum plate. Works great, thanks!
You shared an amazing set of upgrades and even inspired me... Thank you for this video.
Oh man, I just spit my drink at the opening movie clip, LOL.
😁
All nice mods, but the custom table for vertical use is brilliant! I always hated swapping in the table for a single cut. That one is on my short list for this weekend. Cheers!
I've got one of those generic bandsaws. The vice-plates measured at 87 and 89 degrees (rather than 90), so they went on the mill for correction. The arm-pivot was also bored and re-shafted to correct it's movement. A jacking bolt with locknut was fitted to the moving jaw to enable clamping short-stock. With re-engineering, these are a cheap alternative to elbow-wrecking manual effort.
Agreed! I love the table that can remain in place while cutting horizontally. Nice work.
Great and clever upgrades to the saw, Yuchol, thanks for the excellent presentation ✅👍
Thanks Michael! 😁
Thanks Yuchol, great upgrades and easy to follow descriptions on how to make them. I've been trying to justify getting a small band saw for the limited times I need one but this video has convinced me I definitely need one - so I can upgrade it! :)
Glad I can help
Love the intro Yuchol ...that is the way with my import bandsaw since 1984 been a struggle, great video!
I had some fun with the intro 😁
Now I have to go to work on my saw.Great upgrades!
Great video for the modifications. I think your ideas are fantastic and look great.
Thanks for sharing.
Great to see you back Yuchol !! Yes my bandsaw needs these upgrades now! Great show thank you.
Thanks Mick👍🏼
Very nice upgrades!
Thank you 👍🏼🙏🏻
I can relate to that opening on soooo many levels. An exceeding clever and well edited clip. Love your sense of humor!!!!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
Hi Yuchol, this was a good morning coffee for me today - thank you. A few people have been on the band saw wagon recently and your improvements are up with the best of them. You also got me re-thinking my little saw. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Stay safe and well :)
Thanks Anthony! 🙏🏻
Your table top design is awesome! Thank you for sharing this
Brilliant modifications. These saws are awesome I owned one 30 years ago and used it everyday for 10 years. It ran all day long you could fry an egg on the motor it got so hot. A few months ago I bumped into the guy I sold it to he told me apart from a new switch it is still going strong. Not bad for a £200 machine.
I can cook eggs on my motor too. Thanks 😁
I've done the vise on mine the same, but I'm going to use your idea for the upgraded plate!!! Great idea!! Thanks.
great upgrade
Nice job!
amazing work as always
Thank you 🙏🏻
Good job, good project
Today, 2023, same bandsaw, I have just made 3 cuts on a piece of channel, 250 x 90.
Thank you for the great ideas!
Thanks Bruce
Hi Yuchol,
Some nice upgrades to your bandsaw... the threaded hole to accommodate a spacing bolt was very clever...
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks Paul, wish I could take the credit, but wasn’t my original idea 😁
Good video. Randy is top notch.
He is
Perfect table ideia. Congratulations.
Nice vid. The gap under the machine will hold one of those cookie sheets from the dollar store. I love mine, just pull it out and dump it.
Great upgrades Yuchol. I'd love to hear the other bandsaw upgrade ideas - please do share them. More for the infinite project todo list :-D
Definitely more will come. Thanks Craig 👍🏼
Fantastic, will update grade mine soon!
Enjoyed...always like shop upgrade ideas
Thanks Chuck!
Great ideas, I will need to do the same to my saw. Been struggling with holding small stock. Thank you!
great ideas, Thanks
Sir I love that intro and love the mod on the bandsaw. It is as good as the attachment James dedman did for his bandsaw. Both are very nice improvements. Thank you for sharing this tip.
Thanks Michael, glad you enjoyed it.
Good work. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Very nice !
Nice upgrade.
The music is great! You got some great machines. That new plate looks beautiful .
Those are great cut off saws right out of the box. Great price and they work, light duty so be easy with them and they last years. The upgrades are fantastic ideas well done. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
Looking good there Yuchol. Those are all great useful additions/changes. If I can ever get the blade to stay on for a while day I may do the same for my bandsaw.
Thanks Harold, I hope you figure out the blade tracking 😁
That intro was great. Great way of getting your message across.
🙏🏻👍🏼
Good mods, Yuchol. I have modded mine so I can mount a 7" adjustable angle plate on the bed. Enables compound angles to be cut and awkward workpieces to be mounted. Large vee block is another I can see as useful for some work holding applications. I like that cutting table idea and the design allowing it to be a permanent attachment. All good stuff, keep them coming.👏👏
Edit to add: Kurt has been asking when he can have his machine vise back.
Thanks Howard, please tell Kurt it’s in the mail 😀
@@woodscreekworkshop9939 He'll be delighted to hear that😁
Neat modifications, on my saw it doesn’t do vertical, so that’s always a drawback. I use fixtures for short and odd cutting on my horizontal. Of course I converted a 12” craftsman or metal for vertical work
As always, you produce great and informative videos. Oh, funny too
Thanks Paul 🙏🏻
Once I bought a bandsaw I never looked back......it didn't come with a vertical table add on so I mocked one up from some ply wood to see how it would work before I made a steel one and a year later it's still on there....the steel one is on my to do list.......the longer jaws are interesting too.
LOVE IT!!
Great work Yuchol!
I need to do the same with my bandsaw jaws, and a whole lot more. I'll add it to that endless project list
A list is good, start worrying when you run out of things to do 😁
@@woodscreekworkshop9939 that's impossible! Lol
Gday Yuchol, there great modifications, I need to do the same to the vice on my power hacksaw, throughly enjoyed watching, cheers Matty
Thanks Matty!
The bandsaw table looks great. Im gonna have to copy this for mine.
Send me some pics when finished my friend
Good to see you back in action, looks like its raining a little this week.
Raining a lot 😭
Great intro 👍🏻
Thanks 😁
Great idea with the vise jaws.
Thanks
Really a good design. Nice video showing it.
Time 08.30. The bolt balancing the moving jaw is great. I prepared for 3, one low, one in the middle and one high.
Not long ago I made the same arrangement but without screwing the new parts to the bandsaw jaws. It has made a great job already.
It will be thrilling to see what additional fixtures You might come up with.
Also bought Randys knocker, scriber and dove tail cutters. Great tools.
Time 13:25. On the modell I've got there's an adjustable blade guard the interferes with the table and needs special adjustment for horisontal cutting. The preferred adjusting is unfavourable for the table at horisontal cutting.
Great portable table. I still use the crappy metal legs....
Good idea on the saw vice, looks like you have been in my shop for my vice is the same way but it's about 8 years old I used 3/8 thick stock and taped in it 5/16-18 also taped a 5/16-18 hole where you have the 1/2" hole for the stop adjuster I use a 6" long carriage bolt that is threaded all the way
Great, now you added another project on the need to do list!
Glad to help 😁
Instand-Like for the intro 😄
awesome 👍😎👍
Cool mods! Mine saw table also has dedicated shop vac at the bottom with pedal switch, so that you can clean table after cutting some stock without any extra motion.
Hi Yuchol, interesting bit of editing, can only imagine how long that took! Great upgrades, I was planning a vertical table for my saw, held in the vice, I am now reconsidering, excellent idea. Cheers, Jon
Thanks Jon🙏🏻
Nice job.
Thanks you 🙏🏻
I have been thinking to take the TIG torch to the table once it warms up a bit, same with the sheet metal welding carts I have. It's worth try and fairly frugal. I like your table , vise mod and that is one sturdy cart upgrade. Enjoyed, cheers!
Thanks!
Good to the point but fun to watch spot on upgrades that are essential to safe effective use of this type saw. This could be a kit he sells easily.
Extend the out feed table so you can clamp down oddly shaped parts. I also made a few large T nuts for the center slot so I can use hold down hardware. Just a few hints. Thanks for the great content.
Nice Job!
🙏🏻
Some clever upgrades Yuchol. Just before this I watched a video about making a table for vertical use on a 4" × 6" horizontal bandsaw on Winky's Workshop. Anyone who hasn't seen his channel should take a look.
Thanks Andy, Winky’s channel is definitely a good one to watch.
You like your center drill. Nice and stiff. People say a spotting drill works better for starting a hole.
Good upgrades Yuchol....I will add some of those once I find a used one.
Thanks man
thank you for trans farring your experience
i with i had one of these devices too.thank you very much ,but the problems of life didn't make it possible for me
Yuchol --- sweet up grade. Two thumbs up.
I like that table. I used to live in Lake Stevens, WA.
Excellent! I bought my EMCO way back in 1984 from their store in Massachusetts just before they closed it. It was fully assembled and aligned already and only cost me $75.00. I have never done anything to it other than replace blades and the roller bearings and lose the table for upright use. It still has the original belt! I've never had even come close to tipping over but, I do agree that the platform is a bit on the shaky side.
There are a lot of videos on making upgrades but, I like your modification to the vise best. I'm definitely going to borrow your idea. I may still make up a new support table for it since it does appear to be a worthwhile adventure. Especially with the introduction of a coolant system.
Thanks for the video.
Thank you! Love the vise mods, in process of the same on my 7x12 which has the same problem. Have you made your 45 degree adapter yet?
Nice job Yuchol !,
Thanks man 🙏🏻👍🏼
Nice improvements.....the bandsaw bit in the beginning was 👍......I have the same tap wrench its one of the few things from harbor frieght I dont hate all the way.....I love how smooth your machines sound.
Thanks. 🤪
I have the same tap wrench. I asked Yuchol where he got it the first time i saw him use it and I went directly to H/F and brought one and brought it home and put it in the drawer with the other 9 tap wrenches i already have. Those 9 are now like the Maytag repairmen they never get used now that i have this one. It does have its draw back . When I was using a left hand Acme Tap i forgot to switch it to left hand and almost never got the damn tap to start. LOL
Enjoyed your video. Admired the machine work also. Is that some kind of a spring-loaded center that you are using to support the tap, or are you just following it with the quill as the tap advances?
Damn Yuchol, you Liptonated me. Now I have to go to Hazard Fraught and pick up one of those tap handles. By the way, excellent editing. You must have spent almost as much time editing as you did making this project. I really enjoyed it.
Something tells me Tom costed you a lot more money than I have 😁 As you already know, editing takes awhile, but I find it to be enjoyable in a sick crazy way 😒
LOVE your videos! I cannot remember seeing you use a steady rest. I want to build one for my machine. Would love to see you do it first (if you don't already have one.) Extra points for a hinge opening.
Thanks Travis, I already have a steady rest, but not the most stout one, maybe an upgrade in the future...
The vise on mine could use modification, similar to how you did yours. And yes, my bandsaw is often messy too.
Now I don’t feel so bad, thanks! 😁
Another great video. I would make a blade guard for when you use the saw in the vertical position. I don't like seeing blood. Especially if it's mine!
I love my HF ratcheting tap wrench. Everybody busts on me for buying it but they refuse to admit it works great and it cheap if it eventually breaks. 8 or so years and it still works perfectly.
Always love your videos Yuchol, I will miss you guys today on the ARW group get together but im sure there will be some talk on your video. Very nice. Gary
Thanks Gary, stay safe!
How do you not have a million subscribers, your content is awesome
Dont demagnetizing those drill bits. Make them even stronger then no more chips spilling.
That’s true, didn’t think about that 😁
The extended jaw is great if you never cut angles. The first time you swing it to do an angle you're going to find that you need to cut through it which will leave it shortened.
It is removable.
Great work
New subscriber
Cheers
Thank you Dave
Hi Yuchol ! I was wondering which type of mill you used in this video? I was also wondering where you get replacement wheels for the guides on your bandsaw? I've liked and subscribed, so please keep up your useful and informative videos. 👍
now drill and tap the vise bed for your hold down tow clam set mine uses 1/2-13 rods. Then make a pallet for even smaller parts. you will be very happy.
Great upgrades Yuchol. Was just about to ship my bandsaw to your place for a good clean up and realized I don't have your address. lol So I guess I'll have to do it myself. Gilles ;)
Good stuff here. Instead of bolts for your vice hold open, use an all-thread to cover all ranges with one bolt.
It is funny, I am in the midst of doing the jaw upgrade to my saw. Only for the reason I can cut smaller bits and be able to grip then without jumping out of the vice. I might add been carting a length of solid metal around with me now 25 years, I am now sectioning it into small bits 70mm x 60 mm. Good onya Yuchol...
How can you cut longer pipes at a 45 degree angle?
Nice upgrades Yuchol! As usual your video was entertaining as well as informative. Keep up the good work! Did you get snowed in last week?
Thanks Gary. We only for couple of inches, lost power for a day due to wind. Nothing we couldn’t handle 😁
Great ideas and suggestions! Rather than making new jaws for the vise, how about replacing the vise with 2"x2"x1/4" angles. You can drill and tap the angle for fixtures as you did with jaws but you won't reduce the capacity of the saw by the width of the jaws.
I bought one of these saws about 20 years ago. It has the Delta name on it. I don't think they've made any improvements in 20 years. About 10 years ago I finally made a similar table and tapped the vice for a bolt. Still on the terrible stand but I rarely move it. The belt guard is falling apart, added that to the list. Seriously considering a hydraulic down feed and a slobber coolant system. Maybe next year!
These saws are like a blank canvas 😁
Hey! Great video what thickness 2x2 angle iron did you use. Was hoping to use 1/8 thick wanted your input
It was 1/8
