    I'm born and raised in NYC and visted LA and I agree especially with nightlife. NYC nightlife is all about jumping from one place to the other throughout the night. It's an adventure always.

      You must have never been to all of Los Angeles. Downtown long beach downtown Fullerton downtown Huntington Beach west hollywood Hermosa Beach Santa Monica is all bar hopping spots with a different vibe . California beach area is def different .

    You seriously missed out on a true Los Angeles experience. CZcamsrs have it all wrong and only want that super healthy marble everything apartment with a view lifestyle. I'm born and raised here, downtown, south central, Hermosa beach, Hollywood, Santa Monica to be exact. I love it. Such an amazing music and arts scene. The number of artists I've seen throughout the years was only possible because I live here. Anyway, NYC seems awesome as hell too I'm moving to Boston next year and am beyond excited to experience cold weather and Dunkin' Donuts, ha.

    I was raised in NYC. It’s all cool cause you’re in a big city with different people but it can be lonely sometimes and expensive. It can suck the life out of you. And the weather in winter is harsh. But There is more opportunity here, places are pretty, people are friendly, going to different place with friends is fun there’s always something you can do here. I feel like people have to come, experience life here, see for themselves, and hopefully you like it. Oh and another thing the “city” is not just manhattan the city has five boroughs 😄 they all represent NYC

    I’m born and bred in Los Angeles county and I love going into LA for the day to like get good food and see the sights/get insta photos lol but I like going back to the coziness of my (v suburban) valley at the end of the night to fall asleep to crickets and no loud cars outside lol. Idk if it’s so much the city aspect as it is that the valley is the only home I’ve known, but I have also spent weeks in the middle of downtown Tokyo and fell asleep and got along fine (of course Tokyo is a whole other mood/life than LA or New York haha). I have a love/hate relationship with the “LA lifestyle” tho, like I love the chill vibe everywhere and being able to be like “oh yeah I’ve been there” to all the cool places on TV but the typical LA people themselves (*cough* influencers *cough*) or the ones trying to be famous and relevant just make me roll my eyes lol. But LA sunsets are honestly the best, IMO. I’ve had various ones as my screensaver for honestly a decade now lol.

I’m from Texas so it’s quite different, but if I lived in NYC I’d probably have to frequent Central Park bc the lack of nature makes me feel claustrophobic in a weird way. I hate when youtubers compare these two cities and always end up making California as a state look bad. LA is NOT all there is to California. (Big Sur, Yosemite, etc.) I don't even like LA and I probably wouldn't like NYC either. If you're into quintessential "city life" like the majority of youtubers, obviously NYC is the place for you. But if you look at the entire state of California versus the state of New York, California wins by a long shot, especially if you're a person who likes the beach and mountains, and to camp and be outdoors.

    • @briannafresh8
      @briannafresh8 Před 6 lety +3

      Samantha Brinson thank you! I live in San Diego and it irks me what my friends back in my home state of GA think of California. LA is the only thing they all "know" and the worst part is they only know the wanna be hipster, picturesque, instagram aesthetic Los Angeles. Lmao they don't even know that it's a county and what other cities make up LA nor do they know that California is beaches, deserts, mountains with snow, etc. Theres so much more to this state than what social media makes it out to be. Why do people think we pay so much money to live in this state? It's beautiful ♥️😌

    I was born and raised in LA but lived in NY. IMHO: NY is about people and books/learning. LA is about quality of life and place. LA is (the best parts) near paradise. But zero community possible. It’s the first car-designed megalopolis (we studied this in planning school) in the world. So, if you want privacy and incredible weather, parking and an awesome quality of life, skip NY. If you’re seeking close friends, community, and can sacrifice privacy and quality of life some: NY all the way. I still have friends in NY from years ago. Yet after years in LA, almost none. LA is much more materialistic and shallow.

    • @alicen2610
      @alicen2610 Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah, but everyone is busy af unless they're rich kids, so it's not like having real close friends like in a smaller city. LA may be worse since it's a lot more spread out with a lot of traffic, so you can't spontaneously meet up with people as easy.

    • @shelleyrose2105
      @shelleyrose2105 Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah I don't really see the appeal of living in LA, but I am drawn to NYC the only thing is I don't know anybody there. I live in Boston now, which is cliquey because everyone who already went to college here already has their friends. I was curious what NYC is like since it is SO much bigger

    • @alicen2610
      @alicen2610 Před 6 lety +1

      Shelley Rose Yeah. There definitely are cliques but there are so many people from all over that you aren't limited to trying to find your way into one. The cliques are usually based on people being from the same city, went to the same college/university in NY around the same time, coworkers, around the same age and have some unique thing that connects them, etc. but it's not like everyone is in one and not open to new friends.

    I have never been to LA- maybe I'll go someday, just like so many other places. However, in the past year I have gone to NYC twice and that is the only place I've ever been on my own. I'm so excited to go back. It feels like home there. I feel you, the energy of the crowds of people on the sidewalk and lines down the stairs to the subway is abundant- there is a rush that you cannot avoid- it is like nothing else. It's great to be alone there, but you never truly are, hence the community aspect. I have reflected on both trips with the same conclusion: we are all the same in the end. It's an incredibly humbling yet magical joy. My heart smiles in the East Village- all of the art, the grit, the chip on our shoulders yet we still can say hello to each other. People aren't assholes, they're just real. I love how everything is so close together and you don't have to go far to find what you're looking for. And then you usually find something better. The pizza, all of it, every day. The skyline. The best coffee I've ever had. I'm biased, I know, everyone's experiences are different. But, I hope everyone finds what they're looking for, and gets a chance to feel a little NYC in their life some way or another....whatever it is I hope they feel as electric as I feel. Also, I came up to you and said hello the last time I was there. You were in my neighborhood, it was a surreal experience because I've watched your videos for a few years. You're kind and real and alive- that is meaningful. You're on a beautiful path. I appreciate this video.

      lexie lombard my friends in LA tend to be more extroverted, they like to go out and party every night, but my friends in NYC prefer to stay inside rather than go out.

    Not a fan of nyc lmao but i also feel like i wouldn't like la, either. I feel like depression hits me harder in cold weather, so i never want to live anywhere where it gets incredibly cold.

      I’m the same way! I’m a Los Angeles county native, and I don’t think I could live anywhere else because I just can’t imagine life without my Southern California sun and weather lol. I’m so acclimated that our 100+ degree summers don’t even phase me that much anymore lol

      @@marissahaas257 We only get brutal cold in spurts, most of the winter is pretty mild here especially considering what they get further north and west.

    ahh new york!!! the dream!! i'm from portugal, from a small city where nothing really happens, theres no nightlife "for my age" and if you wanna hang out you basically just go the shopping centre because theres everything there. my dream is literally to live in a big city where i can just leave the house with no plan and end up doing a ton of stuff and have fun! i'm moving to england next year for university so hopefully it will be different there! and one day i hope to move no nyc

    i'm from a small suburb of cleveland and i'm moving to LA in march of next year to pursue a career in the industry. but honestly if the weather wasn't sunny and the ocean wasn't there, i probably would consider a different city. the weather plays a huge role with my mood and anxiety/depression problems so i think being somewhere where it's for the majority sunny would def benefit me. NYC just seems like to congested for me. i love love visiting, but i think i would be stressed living there. i know LA is congested too, but for some reason NYC seems worse to me from visiting both places. i'm 22 and i'm moving to LA alone. i know like 2 people there. i'm planning on living in weho. do you think thats a good place for just moving? hope you see this. xx

    I'm from NYC LOVE MY CITY. Going to LA in August. The one thing I love about LA is the weather. And the one thing I hate about NYC is well the weather. I hate NYC winters. But we have better pizza. And that NYC staple in the morning the bacon egg and cheese on a role. The thing I love about NYC is smelling the different foods from all the different cultures that live here. And I love the fact that each of the five boroughs are their own entity. Each borough has it's own personality. And even it's own accent for God sake. So that's what I love about my city its cultural diversity in one compact little box. And we got better sports teams. And bigger RATS. And yes we do have the greatest public transportation system In the world. And I love the fact if need something fro. The grocery store at 2 in the morning their is always a 24 hr bodega. So yeah I'm NYC bias. But I love LA as well. Atleast the wheather lol
