  • We make a valiant effort to get our chimney liner installed. Even with all our efforts we are outmatched this week. Several mistakes were made and this project had to be put on hold while we ordered more parts.
    However we start a new project. We pick up some meat chickens, This will be our first time raising meat chickens and should be quite the adventure. We had planned to try meat chickens next summer when the weather was in our favor but we found an amazing deal that we could not turn down so we decided to do it now.

      The ladder was broken, and climbing on random fence posts seemed like a better idea at the time. 😀

    Thanks for posting this. What made you decide against insulating the chimney liner?

    • @IdaHomestead
      @IdaHomestead  Před 3 lety

      We haven't insulated the liner because of the length of the chimney with the multiple curves that the chimney makes and the tight space we had to work in to get the chimney connected to the stove. Also we had some time constraints as we wanted to start using it as soon as possible. We might insulate it down the road with the insulation mix you can pour in but I'm still not sure we can pull it off. Luckily the double walled liner has been working great so we can very away without insulating. If we didn't have the clay chimney liner we would probably have had to insulate it no matter what.

      Insulation requirements are based upon clearance to combustibles from the outside of the chimney structure. Yours is an internal chimney so it needs 2" clearance from the outside of the chimney structure to combustible materials. You also didn't properly clean the chimney before lining it.

      @@MrSprintcat not know it all. I know chimneys liners stove installs and the applicable codes. There are many other things other people know much more about than me. Now is anything I said here incorrect?

    What size diameter liner was this?

    • @IdaHomestead
      @IdaHomestead  Před rokem +1

      It's an 8 inch liner. From my understanding the stove you install will dictate the liner size you need.
