    For the record, there is absolutely no reason to be entirely raw. It is just as healthy and likely far more practical to consume whole grains and legumes cooked. Also, DO NOT use this video on your social media or video channels. You may share the link of course only but DO NOT upload it to your channels otherwise you will get a copyright strike eventually and may even lose your account or channel. I worked very hard to produce these videos and the last thing I need is somebody else beating me to shorts so they can lazily exploit my efforts. It's easy to share without stealing and violating copyright laws. Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a beautiful day :)
    While Karyn is a Beautiful example of this potential there are far more examples of people eating many of these foods cooked and raw. Going completely raw maybe challenging for some in certain zones especially without proper variety and time to do this right. Some foods are even more nutritious cooked such as carrots, tomatoes, et cetera and there is reason to believe that mushrooms may be safer cooked, and things like certain cruciferous vegetables potentially as well and even spinach as cooking reduces oxalates even though oxalates really aren't a problem unless you're doing a variety of other things wrong like drinking sodas and not staying hydrated and mono mealing which you should not be doing. Eating a variety of legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices is most ideal. And always consult your physician before making radical dietary changes. For many, like me, it doesn't require a radical change, I just stopped consuming animals and their secretions and just ate more of the things I was already eating. Many of the long time extremely awesome healthy vegans I have met throughout the years eat a very simple variety of these whole vegan foods. If in the event you find yourself having difficulties for some reason consider consulting a nutritionist, dietitian, or physician and ideally one that practices lifestyle medicine since that they practice evidence based nutrition. You may find a lifestyle medicine practitioner through the American College of lifestyle medicine, Love.Live, or Plantrician Project. And remember a vegan is a vegan because they don't want to exploit animals or hurt them in any way. So we find a way to make it work within the 10s if not hundreds of thousands of edible plant options to choose from. We find a way to make it the healthiest way for us, others, and the planet! Live long live strong in peace and love.

    I'm Vegan somewhere between 35 and 40 years and 17 of those years Raw / Live. I NEVER looked back. To me, it's the BEST lifestyle anyone could ever have. It changed my life completely. I saw Karyn in a Sunday Tribune Article and HAD to find out what she was doing and how she did it. I was amazed by her youthful glow and unending energy. I had been extremely ill, and extremely frightened by how ill I had become. You have no idea how terrifying it can become to be so completely debilitated by illness. . . . . and how amazing it is to watch it all fall away with simple yet profound changes to our diet and lifestyle. I gave all my pots and pans away years ago. You cannot cook at my house. Like Karyn, I sleep maybe 3 to 4 hours a night and I've done that for years. When your body is not a toxic waste dump you don't need hours of sleep to restore it. I call it a Magical Lifestyle providing us Magical Energy. I try to get others to raise their vibratory rate because it's easy to feel the energy of others once living this way. I say, 'Do Not Hesitate - - Just Do It!' You will not believe the difference proper eating makes in your world.
    Every time I eat a meal I also Bless my Husband who made it possible for me to study and learn all this. I did it for us. I had been ill, and he developed a terrible brain injury which ultimately claimed his life almost 3 years ago. I never take for granted what I learned, or my choice to eat healthfully. My body is not a receptacle for the world's trash and junk.
    All Best To You!

    Great interview! Karyn has so much life, personality, and eloquence that is just so delightful to watch. I loved hearing her unique insights; the story about "Trucker Hat Guy" showing kindness to her dog was very thought-provoking in its lesson about maintaining human connection amidst vast ethical variability. Her ability to engage with him positively despite his obvious bigotry is commendable. I especially appreciate her philosophy that we are all connected and have an obligation to care for one another as living beings, whether human or ant!
    I'd have loved to see a deeper discussion on honey consumption, animal companion diets, the choice to abstain from vaccines/medical care as a vegan, and the vanity aspect, but those topics do tend to open a large can of worms and I enjoy that this channel focuses on the stories of interviewees as individuals without harping on specific ideas. Nonetheless, I'm itching to hear more from her! Definitely gotta check out her channel.
    Edit: What an awesome tour! Every space of hers looks so cozy and welcoming. Wishing nothing but prosperity for her businesses.

    Hi Karyn, a real pleasure to watch your video. I'm not a raw food vegan yet, but I am a vegetarian and eat fish occasionally ( cold water fish), for 30 years noy. I was pescatarian before I went vegan. Fish are sentient creatures and they are gravely overfished. Furthermore they bioaccumulate environmental toxins in their fatty flesh. Farm-Raised fish are not any better in that when they are not in their natural environment they do not have the same fatty acid profile and tend to be higher in omega-6. You can get everything you need from a well planned whole food Vegan diet. So for example instead of depending on fish I simply use kelp granules, take a B12 supplement instead of getting it through the blood cuts and Gore of an animal that was supplemented, And for my fatty acids I get the alpha linolenic acid via my whole plant foods like chia seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, etc.

Cooking them is absolutely fantastic and fine though and there is no evidence suggesting that you need to avoid cooking them. By most vegans’ definition though I am all vegan….food, clothing, furniture, car seats, hygiene products, entertainment, musical instrument parts, …Veganism is “to the greatest extent possible” not, nor ever, absolute. We all participate in consuming products that contain animal derived ingredients and/or whose production or collection harms animals ( LCD, rubber, textiles ….thinking casein…some medicine… tested on animals).I worked in a slaughterhouse during the summer months for 3 yrs and severed my left bicep which subsequently atrophied. Prescribing and/or offering advice that is unsolicited is something I am uncomfortable with. Raw vegan food diets seem to always bear the brunt of this phenomenon. Good honest interview. • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked  Před 16 dny +2

      Thanks so much! I don't know what I missed or know-it-all means but I try to be inquisitive at least. 🙂 I just had a really powerful conversation with a lady that I'm going to be interviewing soon. The conversation was like 3 hours long and I can tell this is going to be a really powerful one. It reminds me a lot of what you're saying here and respect to what you appreciate about the channel. The conversation was super next level. I'm an extroverted intuitive thinking judgmental person by nature, so perhaps you're just sensing that which unfortunately my personality type I guess in some ways is rare according to the information I was given in college lol. I have learned a lot along the way. Perhaps what you're sensing is me attempting to play devil's advocate a little bit from time to time. And that's something I do because I read all of these comments that I can and I hear what other people are saying. The conversation I had earlier was somebody just like Karyn who knows her very well and has a very similar way of approaching things. I actually did Karyn's interview 3 years ago And have since learned a lot, especially in how to articulate things that I think might be next level. So this conversation that I'm going to have with this lady coming up soon will be very in-depth and reflective of everything. I'm really excited about it because it pulls together a lot of the history from a different Lane. + The way I'm seeing things is all these lanes are merging. But they're all under the umbrella of veganism. The science unfortunately may not necessarily be entirely reflective of what's most ideal no matter how rigorous no matter how vast a systematic review or meta-analysis may be because ultimately it's just looking at normal people. And we may not be seeing something more nuanced but I think in the grand scheme we can definitely get to a point where we are able to infer more accurately what that more ideal nuance thing would be. Perhaps it could be raw. But people are coming into this in a way that raw isn't very practicable for their current lifestyle, desires, + social situation. And people don't follow through so science is flawed in so many ways. But of course science works to tackle that by continued research and constant analysis. I'm excited to see how AI will pull all this together and dismantle misinformation. Anyways I'm just rambling, I can't even read this while I'm rambling my talk to text because I'm actually driving. But I'm in stop and go traffic. I left this morning at about 5:30 a.m. after only getting about 4 hours of sleep. I'm on my way to Kansas where I'm going to be doing interviews for a few days, about a 16-hour drive from home. Then Iowa, then Chicago and that's where that great interview is going to be that I was just referring to, then Michigan, then Ohio, then going back home to North Carolina. In long runs like these it can be rather exhausting. Like when I did this video we are commenting under that was an extremely long run coupled with sleeping in my car, sleeping on a floor, all kinds of challenges, then I do what I can to edit it all as quick as I can, publish, get my gear ready for the next run, back up everything so I can archive it properly redundantly and free up space, so much involved! Half the time I don't even know who I'm going to interview, what they're going to be like, I just go with the flow bro! And I fly solo on my own dime and time. The reason why I held on to this one so long, well there was a few reasons. But one of the reasons is related to why I have held on to others for a couple of years now. This year I have been progressively releasing longer and longer time vegans. Then I will be transitioning into conversations about raising children vegan. Then I'll be transitioning into lifelong vegans and their parents. So I have some incredible things to come! Alrighty I better focus on the road the traffic has let up. Hopefully my talk-to-text is accurate and not saying anything to batshit crazy because I can't proofread it going 80 miles per hour down the road LOL

      Thanks for taking the time to respond. I hear you are very busy and exhausted. That’s all the more commendable to you to take the time to do this.
      I am a French speaker so I tend to translate expressions literally, thinking they mean the same thing everywhere 😅. Mr. Know it all means someone who has all the answers / everything figured out. And what I was trying to say is that for someone who sounds like that, you are actually very open minded and curious. But indeed, it’s probably you trying to play devils advocate. There are so many misconceptions about being vegan and plant based. We need people who can be precise with what they mean to avoid confusion. Each time you dig a little further, we get clearer information, which is very important.
      Thank you for the good work. I am very much looking forward to see what is coming (specifically as someone who planes to become a mother soon 😁). I will definitely stay tuned.
