It’s sad that you lost by 2 coins
Minigames have three result options:
1) Everybody wins. All players are rewarded.
2) Victory by chance. Your nothing was better than everyone else’s nothing.
3) Tie, often triggered by no player input. Nobody wins, nobody gets coins.

4) You get nothing. (Only applies to item minigames)

Here's a tip: peaches birthday cake is one of the WORST of the maps for doing nothing

Everyone makes it to the star the same amount of times on avarage, but without enough coins from mini games it's real hard. And cpus can make large ones easy.
But if the star moves, there is a lower chance of him getting to it, because he can only go to the first option. I don’t think that peaches cake is the worst, but I don’t know if it’s I’m the best
In superstars the default is to go to the star.

Im pretty sure that the number isnt decided by timing. Its pre-defined.

Your roll is predetermined as soon as the turn starts; though it used to be possible in the older games to pause buffer and get it to generate a new, more favorable roll which is used a lot in TASes especially. It would surprise me if they didn't patch the pause buffer strat in this game.
I love how everyone shakes when they land on the Big B space, but Peach just stands there with a look of wonderment on her face; not really a surprise, she of all people would know she's not in any danger (yet for some reason no one else does...)

I’m trying to figure out how this game constitutes a tie where you win nothing versus everyone winning the same amount. Videos like this really make think on that.
It's funny because the ties also differ from some of the originals. In Mario Party 1 in particular, if more than 1 player survives in some 4 player games it's a Tie but in this game some of those games can't tie period and always pay out.
I think if everyone is eliminated, it’s a tie, but if nobody is eliminated, everyone wins. There are still some games I’m not sure about, though.
@@columkeenan7708 it also depends on if the winner needs to actively do something to win. Like pressing the A button when playing chicken with the chomp. If no one presses A, it's a tie and no one wins.
They must've felt they had to execute some of the ties in a more positive vibe, hence why several minigames are different from the originals in regards to ties. In _Mario Party 3_ especially, on 4 player minigames like _Snowball Summit_ (one of the ones featured here), it was a tie if 2 or more players remained as the N64-era games relied heavily on declaring a sole winner in those minigames. This game and _The Top 100_ "patch" that by making everyone who remains a winner.

A macro or turbo controller just running nothing but nonstop confirm presses for every player slot might work.

@@TheVindicitive If all 4 players are pressing the same bottom at the same speed in the same interval it will be equally balanced.
@@JusteazyGames on purely symmetrical games sure, but not all of them are, especially the 1v3 ones. then again, they might balance each other out assuming every player plays every role the same amount of times

I think it's in Mario party 10 too and still no one wins. I distinctly remember lasting longer than everyone else, going to jump to the finishing platform and falling into the gap, it hurt so much.

I wonder if the wheel item minigame is programmed to always hit Jr. And if so, if you could use that info to determine when you should time it
In _Mario Party 3,_ it's programmed to land on Koopa Kid (e.g. Baby Bowser) if the time limit reaches zero. Same thing here except with Bowser Jr. replacing Koopa Kid - so technically yes you just need to time your button press within the time limit.
