This game looks really nice, it reminds me of a mix of Final Fantasy Tactics with a bit of another game I can't quite put my finger on.
Any chance someone might be able to point me in the direction of the cheapest PC I can get to run the stuff on this game drive?
I don't need 4K or 1080p perfection if that's going to make a difference in price.

@TechDweeb - So I have a serious question, did you do a deep dive check on your PC after running the drive. Because when I purchased it and opened it on a VM; I noticed even just plugging it in it tried to make changes to Windows due to rootkit and trojans on the drive itself. It gets worse, yes, if you run any of those cracked PC games but in reality the number of keyloggers on it are scary in and of itself. Yes several of the warnings are for the cracks to break DRM like you said but there is much more malicious stuff on here than just that. There are even hidden files that are PW protected that can't be scanned. Just worried that you might have done some serious damage to your gaming PC if you ran it raw.

A good example of this is the Dreamcast, a system that was literally hackable on day one. They could have kept the system alive a bit longer by selling licensing to produce games. Give a system or a game a chance to run it's live cycle so it can become a classic. Let indie dev's get a chance to make some cash off their hard work.
As far as buying games isn't owning them, this is the nature of the digital market place, just buy physical copies when you can.

So I found out that the reason the 3ds didn't have scrapped data on the front is is because... they are all in zip files. Apparently, in the previous version of the drive, when everything was under Hyperspin, the front end was able to access the files from inside the zip folder including the scrapped data. When they moved it over to retrobat they kept them inside the zip files and retrobat can't read the zip files, so they don't load or show their scrapped data. I went into the folder and unzipped everything (Took a while) but afterwards all of my 3ds games worked just fine lol.

    • @ryanbrancel
      @ryanbrancel Před měsícem

RetroBat will unzip the archive for you and prompt if you would like to leave the extracted file. So if you want you can leave the games zipped, and then it will just unzip as you need to. I also chose Lime3DS as the Emulator to use in Retrobat for 3DS files. Citra version on the Kinhank is very outdated and I couldn't get it to update, also it's deprecated.

What I like about Launch Box above ES/RetroBat is the ability to add custom consoles. I can add Famicom by typing the name I want to use for the console, point it to a separate ROMs folder with Famicom games and tell it to scrape from there. AFAIK, you cannot do that in ES/RetroBat. Famicom and Super Famicom go into the NES/SNES folders respectively. Launchbox can get tricky when trying to keep size down of scrapped artwork. Makes no sense to have gigobytes of art work for a collection only a few hundred megobytes in size.

    Hey TechDweeb,
I've got this hard drive and been using it a fair bit.
Just some advice to anyone who get this and has any issues.
The "Wii U" emulator has a lot of crashing when playing the roms, there's a missing file needed to be added to the emulator itself to get them working correctly. It's a semi easy fix but definitely worth pointing out if someone's buying this for Wii U.
Second big issue I've had with the device is the arcade side (tekno parrot and hyperspin). Loading the games is extremely hit or miss...
Best fix I found is to open the emulators separately from the harddrive it's self.
Like load the individual emulator and select the games rather than going through the front end itself.
Other than these problems I've had a lot of fun with the system. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to try and help.
Thanks for the content TechDweeb 😊

I have a question. Have you encountered the drive not recognizing a controller? I’ve tried multiple, Xbox series x, Xbox one, ps5, all are recognized by my computer and play just fine in steam, nada for the drive. It only recognizes input from the keyboard.

    • @ravencorb1354

@voiceboxdrummer I use an xbox series x controller (wired to my gaming laptop with usb 3).
That seems to pick up pretty easily on the emulators I've used.
The Wii U emulator had a few issues originally, so I went into the emulator itself and changed the input.
Some odd games just don't work on any input either (mostly the arcade stuff tbh)
Have you tried any other controllers?

You could try loading the emulators up separately from the front end on the drive. You can then configure your controller from the native emulators and see if that corrects the issue

11:03 I'm confused. How do they obtain 10tb+ of ROM? Pretty sure most are not sold anymore. As far as I'm aware, the only way to obtain ROMs is to buy a very expensive physical ROM, already owned tons, or pirate it. Why only refer to the pc games as being pirated? Also isn't it bad/illegal to make multiple copy of legally/illegally obtained ROMs and then selling it? It's piracy but worse.

@@TechDweeb I agree that emulation isn't piracy 100%, but I don't think this is about emulation, it's about how they obtain and distributing ROMs and how you only say the pc games were the bad part in this drive, legally speaking.
It's usually legal or permissible if the game is no longer copyrighted. So if the developer or owner is gone, distribution without permission is illegal if the copyright still exists. In your recent video, games from Disney and Nintendo were showcased, which I believe are still copyrighted. Therefore, them selling not just recent PC games but ROMs could be considered distributing pirated content.
If you're pirating the game and use it for personal purpose, you do you. But pirating a game without knowing if it's copyrighted and then selling it, I feel it's just asking for trouble.
Correct me if I'm wrong, this is my sleepy brain yapping at midnight.
The point is I'm just worried you might unknowingly promote something "not legal".
