  • This is a practice drill that can be done with a limited amount of ammunition. The focus is on accuracy, front sight, trigger press and trigger reset. 50 rounds are shot as follows...5 rounds slow fire for accuracy. 15 rounds press out drills then 30 rounds of 2-5 round burst into center mass. Drill is shot at 5 or 7 yards.

    Really starting to like your channel. I like your drills. Very good, practical drills for developing and honing skill. And you have started to change my view on the value carrying 9mm. I never liked the idea of carrying a 9mm. Always preferred at least .40, but your 9mm vs .40 vs .45 video and TNOutdoors9's 9mm ballistics tests have made me more comfortable with the effectiveness of 9mm.

    Another great video. If I was to shoot this drill I think I'd use my carry gun. And like you said in your video if all possible drawing from a holster. 50 rounds goes fast. When I go to Range I like to shoot at least 200 rounds. 😃

      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  Před 10 lety +2

      Agree with you there, whatever gun will provide the most benefit. I shoot weekly and these sessions involve 300 rounds or more. However, many people cannot afford the time or money to shoot that amount of ammunition. Therefore, I created this drill to allow some weekly practice with limited ammo. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you for another informative video, unfortunately I am not able to get to the range on a weekly basis. I do try to make it to the range once a month. Given 9mm ammo has been very limited, I have had to skip some months to ensure I would have more than enough for my instructor led training. When I had all .40s there was no ammo to be had, now that I am mainly 9mm there is no ammo to be had. I must be doing something wrong, lol. I look forward to your next video!!!

      For whatever it is worth you might consider purchasing ammo in case lots. This is a better way to keep ammo in stock for practice. I have no problem finding case lots for fair prices on line... here are a few suppliers.... Georgia Arms, Freedom Ammunition, Aimsurplus and TargetSportsUSA all have decent ammo deals. Please let them know that wishse from youtube sent you.

    Even though they weren't 100% accurate, you still made some pretty nice groupings. Is the gun you're using here a S&W M&P .22 or a full size 9mm?

    • @MrDestrian
      @MrDestrian Před 10 lety

      They don't make the .22 in the Pro Series (note the extended slide length).

      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  Před 10 lety

      M&P 9 mm 5" Pro Series. This drill is designed to get through the basics with a limited amount of time and ammo. I generally allocate 300 rounds per session and get to the range once a week or so.

      If your Glock has NEVER had an issue, you haven't shot it enough. I've been a Glock Master Armorer since the early 1990's and Glocks are mechanically inclined like all other firearms. As a police firearms instructor who has taught thousands of hours on police ranges with officers using Glocks, they occassionally fail like all other guns. Without a boring discussion of manufacturing tolerances, materials and contruction goals, a malfunction is often NOT the fault of the firearm. I have experienced or witnessed Glocks experiencing failures due to magazines, broken extractors, broken trigger sprigs, broken/sheared slide rails, worn cruciform plate edges, etc. Every mechanical arm has failures, mostly attributal to the operator. Learn to fight with any firearm - even if its not your pet Glock.

    you need to see additional sight pictures after your punch out. Pulling back that fast after your shots are done , you are not getting the benefit of the follow through. At five yards you will hit, move back to 7 or 10 and you will drift off.

    If you can just stop flinching you can shoot like Miculek. After you get over the flinch it's just a matter of speed. The only way to get over the flinch is to shoot less and dry fire more. 50 rounds fired flinching is 50 rounds wasted.
    2:22 stop flinching.

      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  Před 6 lety

      Zak, thanks for watching and commenting. When I make videos I show the good and not so good things going on with my technique. In the case here, mashing the trigger. However, based on the groups I wasn't flinching on all the shots. I will never achieve the skill of Miculek. Here is a drill that is helpful in addition to dry practice. czcams.com/video/O7c60i_end8/video.html All the best and stay safe
