- The Houghton Weavers were my late father's favourite folk group from Lancashire and these videos were recorded by him onto VHS cassette from their show 'Sit Thi Deawn', somewhere between 1978 and 1980.
This is one of the few monologues that I have performed by Tony Berry and assisted by Norman Prince.
He got a great deal of pleasure from both listening to and watching them perform. I hope that you too have even a fraction of the pleasure he did. I also wish to bring an awareness to a new audience of their music.
I now want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Houghton Weavers, whom have given me their full written permission to upload and share these videos on You Tube.
Please feel free to comment on these videos, but also be aware that I review all comments before they are posted and I will automatically remove any comments that I consider to be offensive, rude or inane without notice or argument.
I remember them doing this at Gracie fields and my dad crying with laughter.
love this group they bring back memories from my childhood <3
RIP Tony Berry.
Love it!! Tony still does this monologue occasionally & another one Battle of Trafalgar (Gunner Joe). Always guarantees a laugh & they're still keeping folk smiling!
That was grand. Thanks again!
Hoping you will have tome to post some more soon - we are missing your uploads!
Glad you like it. xx
Yes Danielle I have some footage of St Winifred's Choir, I will try to put some up when I get a little more time. Sorry for the late response. x
As always, you are most welcome Chris. There are more where that came from. :)
I used to be part of St Winifred's School Choir when they toured and performed regularly with the Houghton Weavers. Have you by chance any video footage of the choir performing with the group? I'd love to show my children if so.... Some fond fond memories. Many Thanks, x
Hi Chris, I should have a little more time in the next couple of weeks to put a few more up.
