9:55 the Floorgasm brings yet another convert to the family !! 😁 Welcome Sister! You’re one of us now. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every note; so, no pressure on her to Bury that high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie; and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

Beyonces "Swagger" is gimmick level bs.
If you have to vibrato every note to the point of whaling into oblivion for your voice to hold up, you're pandering to the lowest common denominator.
In *pop music* Beyonce might be a somebody... But the fact that pop music, for the most part these days, are for children and halfwits is not a coincidence.

The music is called symphonic metal and i very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists
1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005)
2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012)
    3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current)
. * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she capable of.
    Band members
Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics)
Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals)
    Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (The drummer)
Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player)
Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK)
The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the worldtour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (czcams.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/video.html )
As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link czcams.com/video/gbn9GczYBkw/video.html

Floor's rendition of this song has made Nightwish the top tier of react channels. I enjoyed your first Floorgasm, btw. Next is probably The Poet and The Pendulum judging by trends.

Something to know. The primary songwriter/keyboardist Tuomas is an obsessive fan of everything Disney. In fact, people have often called Nightwish 'Disney Metal' as a criticism.

Next for her on her Nightwish journey would be Phantom of the Opera. She'll know the song from the musical, and to get her take on that would be great. Yes, this will be with their first singer, Tarja (pronounced TarYa), from End of an Era.

  • @ChuckJansenII

Original Lead Vocals were Tarja Turunen Beauty and the Beast, Walking in the Air, Nemo and Phantom of the Opera (Andrew Lloyd Weber cover). Anette Olzon replaced Tarja. Best of Anette's time was Storytime off of Imaginarium.
Walking in the Air was originally from an old 1982 animated special The Snowman. Ritchie Blackmore did an instrumental version of this song called Snowman. Both versions are hauntingly beautiful.

I would like to give you some background information. Here is a cheat sheet...... lol
Nightwish was started in 1996. They are considered a female-fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco is the Bassist and vocals. And there is the guitarist Emppu. Then there is Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrumentalist and does vocals. Jukka is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues, Kai became the drummer and as of now is a permanent member.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. the 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012. The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from the Netherlands. ( power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile)
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live ( Floor).
I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me, Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. I discovered them about 5 years ago. I saw them in concert in March in the US. They are unbelievable live. Their music has gotten me through some tough times. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hardcore. So be prepared. lol"
    The Legacy must go on.

If you enjoy Nightwish, my personal recommendation would be to do a few of their shorter songs, Romanticide (Heavy), The Islander (Ballad with Macro, the bass player on lead vocal), Phantom of the Opera (with Tarja the original lead singer), then read up on meaning behind The Poet and the Pendulum and react to that. You should also read up on "The Greatest Show On Earth" and do that one either the Wembley or Tempere live version. (I prefer Tempere but seeing Richard Dawkins guest in the Wembley show is kinda awesome as well), be sure you listen all the way through the end credits or you miss some of his talk in. the Tempere show. As people mentioned below, I Want My Tears Back, Seven Days to the Wolves, Yours Is An Empty Hope, Storytime... Lots of great music to choose from with Nightwish.

  • @haakontangvald-pedersen4368

Lovely to see your wife react to Nightwish too. :-) Hope you two can do more Nightwish together (for the first time). SO much to listen to! I suggest more from the Wacken 2013 concert first, Nightwish and especially Floor are at their best live, and the Wacken crowd is almost like a huge seventh member of the band. Go for the more melodic stuff first maybe. I suggest 'Storytime', fantastic live by Floor. Lots of more metal songs too if you're so inclined.
Hope to hear from you two soon!

I'm so glad you enjoyed this video just like your husband did previously! Don't worry about large crowds at their concerts in the U.S. as they play mostly theatre venues and their crowd looks to be older than what you saw in this video. Very few people seem to have heard of them as rock and metal is no longer a popular genre.. What has struck me about this video is how universally accepted it is across all demographic lines. It seems the reactions to this are similar and cut across all gender, age, race and nationality lines. It really is amazing how the reaction to this is nearly unanimously super positive. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it.

The fans call it a floorgasm. And yes she is classical and operatic trained along with being a teacher although she doesn't Teach as much anymore. But, you want to see her other ranges, check out her previous band called... Revamp. Or other symphonic metal style band before that called... After forever, and watch the song called, Discord. During the show that you're just watched, she hadn't been a full-time member yet she was just filling in because the previous singer left them high and dry while being pregnant and couldn't finish the tour and 2 hours before a Denver Colorado show left him what about a singer all together and the opening band Camelot their backup singers had to step in and do the singing for Nightwish on that. 48 hours later she was on the plane hooked up with Nightwish and has been missing ever since. But, since revamp was in the middle of finishing up their last album... She had to finish that tour as soon as night wishes tour was over which is a few shows after this one
