Another beautiful painting with fabulous commentary. My one complaint... stop apologizing for your camera, microphone, or having your arm in the way. Treat the negative comments the same way you do the ones about a sky only being blue or talking “too much”. You are allowing us to see your technique, allowing us into your world. We are privileged guests!
Yes, the negative nellies can sod off.

I can't see why they bother, and don't just move on. Becoming unbearable on some fronts to read comments and have a sensible conversation. When I hear such talented people apologizing for the camera, the mic, or not being Hollywood, it just saddens me. I still cringe every time I see a new comment pop in my email for an old video. My apologies to everyone for ranting on here tonight, but the complaints regarding free, expert content frosts me.

Beautiful painting again ... and the talking is a huge part of your videos... while many people on YT have jarring voices, poor grammar, and/or rattle on inanely about nothing... you certainly do not!!! I usually watch your videos twice in quick succession and then a third time a few days later. My first watch is with the sound off just for the pure enjoyment of seeing a painting emerge like magic... it also makes me aware of what I don't know/understand... the ''why did he do that?'' phase if you like. Second is definitely sound on, and that's when those ''Ah! That's why he did that!'' moments happen. For me then, the 3rd time without sound is for pure relaxing enjoyment, but it's also where I find out if I have remembered and understood exactly why, what, how you achieved your beautiful painting. Haters are going to hate; critics are going to criticise; but ''quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn'' about them... and nor should you!!! Massive thanks for sharing your knowledge and artistry. :)

Wonderful. I need to start painting like this also to teach myself to not being too tight when I paint. Using big brushes forces one to be less tight.
About those who say that skies can only be blue with white or grey clouds: they never been out and never looked at skies especially at sunrise and sunset and they’ve never put their eyes on paintings by Turner, Dali, Constable, Monet and hundreds of other masters. A sky can be literally any hue on the colour wheel. Same about clouds

Applause for the method of presentation, voice editing adds value since you're able to discuss the process as it unfolds, easily missed while creating art. Whenever I am in the mood to paint, for a while now, I listen/watch to your videos. Took a few sittings but made it through another lengthy and beautiful painting. The final product was amazing. As for the ppl complaining about p's and b's and pops, well that's due to inferior headphones. Your voice is quite soothing to listen to and it helps as we follow whilst you're painting. (As you would say if that makes any sense). That's half the reason, for me anyway, why I enjoy your videos, and your shoulder is hardly an obstruction. Mr. Davies I am thrilled to find your videos. This one reminds me of "one" of my own favorite skies that often appears over North America, when a particularly violent storm clashes with a completely clear sky. This happens over the northern Great Plains of both the US and Canada during tornado season in the spring. The storm clouds will be the most intense, seething mix of dark gray, black, and purple, absolutely malevolent looking, yet with a distinct, sharp border separating the storm from a clear blue, bright sunny sky next to it. Otherwordly looking! BTW, as to your talking - heavens no, please continue to do so. I find that often a teacher will just casually mention a really important or valuable concept or trick, without even meaning to, because of context. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.

i dont get this. I have seen many MANY artists doing helpfulo art videos, and they are really good of course. But I am in the main left with a feeling of trepidation, and inadequacy by watching.
Watching you paint however, and listening to your commentary imbues in me an almost hypnotic state, ( a familiar feeling as I am an advanced hypnotherapist), and none of the fear of getting involved and making a mess of it. I am simply drawn toward starting. Cant start yet, packed everything up prior to moving on the 25th. But really consciously looking forward to the summer, painting. Can not believe it.
Thankyou so much Stuart. I am going to spend the time between now and my move sourcing oil paints etc, (not so easy here in Cyprus), as I dont have a great deal of oil paint, and it is apparent I need to source some chefs brushes lol. Brilliant!

Thank you for the demonstration of sky painting. I love the calm way you comment on what you are doing. Actually, I know that your shoulder is in the way sometimes, but it is not bothersome at all. To me, it is as if I were standing right next to you, slightly behind you, and looking over your shoulder as you work the canvas. It is so natural that, had you not pointed it out, I would never have given it any closer thought. I hope you'll never change that way to show how you work! I dabble in painting, whenever the paint bug bites me. That can happen out of the blue sky, lol. My medium could be anything, it depends what I have been thinking about when the inspiration struck me. It can get quite unconventional at times... that is part of the fun! When the "attack" is over, I put the brush down and nobody knows when I get back to it the next time... it could take years! Strange thing that.... I have a feeling that watching you work there will trigger a painting streak in me soon! Thanks for that!

    Gracias maestro.

Thank you so much for this video and audio. The painting is so beautiful and I love Skies so much that that's what I've started painting with a couple years ago. Skies are my favorite. And you have given me the ultimate Way to put to practice some techniques that I didn't even think of. Thank you so much and I'm very much interested in watching more of your videos

I also have a complaint, and it is how one sided this is!. You doing all the giving, and me just sitting here soaking it up while you provide all this wonderful content and dialog. Plus, I get to discuss what you are doing with the resident artist here. I will be beginning some painting very soon, and am hoping to use some of the uploads for reference. We have gesso on some panels here and still need to sand a bit first. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.

Good afternoon from the redwoods of California,
You mentioned a green sky. I have watched storms come over the Sierra Nevada and grow lead dark, a Panes Gray, then such a faint depth of green, it’s exciting. No clouds In that moment perhaps. There grows a very large Lombardy Poplar. It’s leaves bright yellow as it’s fall. The wind kicks up and yellow leaves shimmer as the wind increases. The contrast of those yellow leaves against the gray sky was wonderful. I used to drive there when I noticed the sky growing dark.
Sadly, they decided to put a new road through there without consulting me, the tree went with everything beautiful along that old road. Maybe like you, one day from memory I’ll bring it to life.
Again, Mr Davies, thanks so much now, back to your painting.

People complain to much. Stuart you did a fine job again. Love to watch you painting and talking about it. I like the technique you call " the illusion of detail" it's very effective. I will never paint white fluffy clouds on a blue sky again. I love these dramatic sky scenes. Thank you for uploading and sharing. 👍👍

I really enjoyed our conversation, you didn’t hear me, but I was commenting in my mind about everything you said.
You are so incredibly intelligent and interesting, it was like sitting with a dear friend of many years, jumping from one subject to another, as we do with those we are comfortable with. ..
and the joy and fascination of your highly tuned talent and technique, your gift being shared.
I thank you for this, my aloneness was not felt.
Your way with words, flow like your brush, and as I stare at the beauty of this piece, I can still hear your voice.

I can’t believe anyone would disrespect this master. If I had the money I would thoroughly enjoy taking lessons...I’ve been a painter with oils for years and need more instruction! I seem to get stuck and then my painting turns to mud. Thank u sir for spending ur time with us...bless u and ur family! Wish I was there to film u...I own a film production company...a small family owned business but we have state of the art hard ware and software...I do all the writing and music and my son edits and shoots all the film...take care sir and have a baguette or croissant for me...I’ve had them when I visited Paris as a youngster...dad was in the military...I lived Europe back in the late fifties and early sixties...

So grateful for your videos. I started painting about two years ago, and have only used acrylics. I was intimidated by oil, because I wasn’t sure about the mediums. I’m was thrilled to hear you say you don’t mix the paint with anything. I’ve been watching everyday since I came upon your channel. I enjoying listening to you as much as I do watching. Your lovely.

I often paint while watching your vids , Stuart. Sometimes I paint what you’re showing us, but more and more I find myself just listening to your tutorials no matter what I’m painting. Your voice soothes me and your instructions inspire me, keep me on track. Right now, using acrylics, I’m painting a woman in the sky shaped to the bust rising among clouds one of which is shaped like a huge cracked egg; she’s holding two doves and myriads of birds are flying around her. Thanks to you, it’s going beautifully. I love your works and your videos. Thanks so much ch for making all available to us. 🙏🏼⛈🌞
