Brilliant. Abstraction, realism, emotion, imagination and creativity and simplicity of methodology. Stuart is a true artist.
When the white hit the canvas, tears came to my eyes...the effect was so beautiful. I am in awe. What a wonderful teacher!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the middle right cloud, it looks like a heavy rain is coming and the way the dark spots form the texture of it is brilliant.
It's me again, the guy who sees faces. Just want to mention how much i love your work and your videos. What i especially like is how your paintings allow the imagination to see things you imply within the style. It's incredibly really.
I love how you create an ugly mess, but then at some point, it becomes an amazing gorgeous painting. Your painting style gives me anxiety, but it always works out.
I grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and just watch. It's meditation at its best. Thank you.
This is the third time I’ve watched this video in its entirety. I love the way the landscape evolves. There is so much wisdom in this lesson, one can apply the broader concepts to other forms of visual art, not just oil painting. I’ve started drawing again using the only materials I have at home: watercolor pencils. Stuart’s “loosening up” of one’s approach to drawing I find inspirational.
Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for subscribing :-)
Just lovely!!! Morning coffee with Stuart's tutorial. Heaven!!!
It calms me down. For those who don't like it: go fly with another squadron!
I just watched a beautiful movie for 50 minutes and 21 seconds.
Dearest Stuart.......I regard you as a wonderful mentor.......I retired at 60 and started painting at62,,,, just moving into phase 5 or 6 of my life....and it’s great to have my time all to myself.....for the first time in my life.."......seriously thinking of coming to France in the new year..... Grand dad indeed!
Now you have set up your painting, everything is beautyful and then when I think you've finish, you come in with a blue color, and a grey and some white. You change the sky like crasy and it's wonderful. The sky gets ALIVE and DAMN...YOU'RE GOOD!!
I love the way little villages and trees pop up in the most surprising of places in paintings...To me it is using your imagination..
Seeing something in nothing...
Wonderful to see something in the simplest of things...
Thank you so much 😀
Embracing the Grandpaness takes a while, but it is so worth it and enjoyable. Love your videos.
It is a wonderful way to idle an hour away in such a relaxing mode. Must try my own painting soon
Just love this painting , the sky is absolutely amazing!.....thank you for sharing Stuart.
Twiggery! I could watch and listen all day. Thank you for your videos. I’m learning so much.
“Flying with a different Squadron” this among a million other reasons I love these videos. You have really given me extra courage and inspired me to be better, even take bigger risks. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and the commentary it’s helped so much.
Mr. Davies, I will call you, " Bro" since we are only 10 years apart, LOL! Love you Brother Stuart! You are a real inspiration!!
Revisiting this video again. I so love the mellow glow of the sky in this one. Your whole mien is incredibly soothing; your presentation keeps me from getting anxious while painting.
"flying with a different squadron" this is such an excellent statement. Love watching your videos!
Ok watched your magic. Amazing I love how it glows in the end. Thank you for the sausage with legs comment, a burst of laughter is always a gift
You are a classic master living in the 21 century. Your art is so amazing, so beautiful. You always surprise me with your final results. Outstanding
Wow, thank you!
Welcome back, Stuart! It has been awhile! I’ve missed your soothing, inspiring videos.
Very awesome. And watching how the sky changes during work, great! Many thanks!
Stuart, I love your style of painting and the narration. Especially, the stories from your college years. Learned so much from you. Thank you.
Only a true painter knows when his work is done . Very well 🙋🏻♀️😊
Just love how your Landscapes appear effectively love your style, I'm gonna attempt to have ago at this one.
"Happy Accidents" now thats a phrase i haven't heard in a long while
Bob Ross be like yep he gets it
I was happy to hear Bob Ross's name. Comming from across the pond, meaning that he was well known for his work. I was always a Bob Ross fan.
I'm 60 and my birthday is also in February. I simply can't do without your videos! Thank you so much for giving me inspiration and actual techniques. You are a wonderful teacher!
Another great video Stuart, they are never dull. I am 62 so can't think of you as a granddad but you would be a very fine brother. Needed this to perk me up as I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 3 days ago and been struggling with it all. Your calming voice and relaxed painting style brings me closer to taking up painting. I am creative, being a photographer (amateur) so guess that would help to direct me in finding my style and 'voice'. I did do a painting course for a few weeks around 30 years ago but it did not inspire me. I think it may be time to jump back in again. Best wishes for a great New Year from a Kiwi living in Queensland, Australia.
god bless you
I'm always so inspired after watching your videos. Best video ever by a 16-year-old!
Thank you for sharing Stuart! Awesome tutorial and a stunning painting! I also love the Payne’s grey landscape at the end, beautiful! It’s one of my fav colours too.
Twiggery, Branchery and Leafery haha... love it!!
As a budding artist, you videos inspire me so much. They encourage me to think differently and relax as I paint. Thank you so very much!
Awesome! I had just last night decided that I should just be happy with the older videos and not worry when a new one would come. A watched pot never boils they say...I think they were right.
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos but what I like most is your idea to create your own world, step by step, the way you want.
Again, great video and great lesson through a lovely painting.
Thanks.
This is my new favorite landscape painting video.
Since I watched the video till the end, You Dear sir have earned my respect 🙂 you’re a real artist
wooow love those loose brush strokes. you have a great channel 🖼️🎨🖌️
Fascinating, you use a great sweeping style which for me would need a fair bit of restraint. My small brushes would be looking at me in a very accusing manner.
I would wish for a bit more colour perhaps but what do I know, my eighty year old eyes take joy from a bit of colour in the foreground.
I must admit I find your videos very watchable and inspiring and the speed of the result is encouraging to someone of my age.....
Stuart, your work reminds me of Innes and Turner...You are prolific and I learn a great deal from your no-nonsense approach to paint. I’m a surrealist, so I’m ready to make great mistakes...or “deny them” as Pollack said. Thank you for all your brilliant work! When the chaos settles, I’d like to take a few lessons from you. Keep up the lessons! Thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
Happy to see a new video of Stuart's skills. I am watching all the videos again to get the clue.
I am doing yoga while watching your video. Your voice is so calming. Helps me start the day with a feeling of ease. Thank you for your videos.
"Flying in a different squadron...." ha ha ha, you're hilarious.
Love your paintings, love your explanations and love your laid back approach, it's so relaxing to watch you.
So glad your phone line was fixed.
Ha ha ha...."fat sausage on legs!" Cracking me up!
Thank you!!
Incredible Payne' s Grey painting ❤
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Yes, isn´t he amazing!
Wonderful painting! Thanks for sharing!
Your microphone and sound are perfect, not to worry!
Its incredible how with those loose strokes and huge brush you are able to describe the randomness of natural things so beautifully. Loved the video very much.
Blown away by how the colours merge with the pasting brush to form a most natural sky in seconds around 39:35 onwards.
This is one of my favorites of your videos. The contrast of colors and drama just amaze me. I have learned from you that I am very uptight. I'll be watching this again and again. Thank you!
Another masterpiece, the people who dont like this video dont know what art is your an amazing artist
Love your laid back approach ! Still part of a bygone world sadly missed !
Enjoying each video!! Thank you for your wonderful explanations and the way you share your talent!
You sir are a treasure. I hope you are staying safe and healthy. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love how you started out, had a really cool abstract kind of look , I live your way of painting, you are the real deal
Happy early birthday! Can't wait to try your style/technique. Very refreshing
You are exceptional! Thank you for continuing to teach your techniques.
Absolutely beautiful! Feels like a nice evening to me.
Stuart, you do what you do so perfectly and we will enjoy every stroke and comment. Thank you!
Thanks for another inspiring lesson!
Warmest regards from Moscow. I learn with a great pleasure from your lessons. Thank you!
I love what you do with green, and skies 💛
I don't have access to my supplies for another few months. But watching you is so inspiring. I can't wait to start up again. Thank you so much. Just astoundingly lovely.
While you’re a bit young to be my grandpa, I find it endearing that younger viewers find you to be so.
Excellent video Stuart. You've really helped and inspired me with my painting. Every one of your videos are beautiful, informative, engaging and relaxing. So thank you !
You are very welcome!
i had a tough day at work and I came home all moody but after I watched your video I am calm and relaxed. I LOVE your videos and you inspire me. Keep up the good work!
I completely understand the frustration of technical problems, but I'm very glad you persevered! I've read those kinds of comments you mentioned, on other channels, so thank you for sparing us their attempt at "drama."😏 Love the painting.😍💗
Прекрасная работа !!! Спасибо за видео !!!!!
Georgia USA here. Love your technique, tried it. Plywood here is measured in inches, I bought 3/8 inch board for 10 bucks and made 3 36×24 panels. Gesso was 8 bucks for half gallon. So for 18 bucks I had a lot of fun. And zero turpentine. Loving this new strategy, thank you
Very wonderful art! Awesome 🎨✨✨
Another great painting session Stuart, loved it mate.. learnt a lot!
I was so glad to open my mail and receive a notice of your new video! I learn so much from each one. Thank you from South Carolina, USA
I love this painting. Thank you!
I really love this one, Stuart. Thanks as always!
So enjoyable to watch and listen. Love both paintings.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for explaining as you go, and in an easy clear manner, so refreshing
Classic! You make it look so easy!
I love your spooky little trees. They take me back in time to my first encounter with Old Man Willow that trapped poor Pippin in its' trunk... Thrilling adventure.
Yes, I'm totally ok with them :D👍
Love the painting. I think I'm starting my 19th painting tomorrow attempting to emulating your technique. Like you I'm a Grandfather, 67 years old only in cold, snowy Alaska. I feel lucky when the grandchildren are running around the studio/garage.
Found you this evening by chance Stuart...jist sublime, thank you.
I'm hitting 68 in October. Looking forward to it.
Thank you, it's beautiful.
One word: Amazing!
Flying with a different squadron!! That was awesome!!
Thank you Stuart.....I’m glad your system is back up working
You are a treasure! Thankful for your persistence.
Happy New Year! Thoroughly enjoyed your technique and watching this painting evolve. Thank you for sharing!
Wow! I’m learning how to paint loose and laughing at your wit as well! I can’t call you grandpa since I’m also in your generation. I don’t feel my age either! Thanks so much for teaching on CZcams for the rest of us. You are an amazing artist! What a beautiful mind.
Beautiful painting, Stuart! Thanks for sharing. A pleasure to watch as always.
Keep doing what you do Stuart, you are a wonderful painter.
Amazing...as usual. Totally captivating and entertaining to view.
you cant imagine how happy i am, that your videos exist.
i used to paint in acrylics, now i have concentrated on drawing for the past half year and now i begin painting in oil and i cant wait to try do what you do.
This is beautiful. I like your teaching method. I love the tips you give. Thank you.
Thank you very much! Very supportive and I wish you and your Family a happy new Year! 🙌🙏
Stunning. Have to try it. Love your technique
When I played flute and piano I had to learn the classical first. I like your process better lol.
i love this landscape. great video.
Wow! It's great!
Hi Stuart. Really enjoy these videos. The paintings themselves are always superb but, like many others, the other benefits and insight for more novice painters like myself can’t be overstated. I’ve always spent time agonising over initial layouts and sketching things - I’m never satisfied with the foundations of the painting and the end product suffers. As a result I find it more stressful than enjoyable sometimes. Your approach is brilliant and you paint with such freedom, and at pace. I like how you get the colours on and then sort it out on the canvas. It has really shaped how I will approach painting. Thank you very much and keep them coming!
Another master piece !
Happy New Year!... Another marvelous piece and thank you again for your time, dedication and teachings!...
Glad I found this...keep posting stuart!
So glad you are back. The red ochre in the sky was wonderful and the grey painting fabulous - never thought I would say that about grey. Your skies fill me with awe I so want to paint like that.
Thank you, Stuart! This is wonderful. I so enjoy your videos. Looking forward to the next one! Happy New Year!👩🎨👩🎨
