It was hard to root for Boston based on their several meltdowns in the past and even this year. But it was clear, and both Jason and Colin said so, is that Boston is the most talented, and that their defense potential is very high. And Dallas - outmatched. Dallas should be praised for overachieving- and maybe the intensity of the Denver series took too much from them

You have to remember that a lot of other variables go into this. JB made clutch plays when it mattered most throughout the entire playoffs, but especially in these nba finals. He had so many moments where he really put the team on his back and paved the way. I think everyone saw that!

You play the teams in front of you so no shame in that. In the EC playoffs Boston played mediocre teams crippled by injuries. Unlike the blood bath in the WC during the regular season and playoffs. I had hoped for a Nuggets Celtics Finals but the Nuggets didn't hold up their end b/cuz Murray was hurt throughout the playoffs and played like crap. That's the Finals match up that pretty much all real NBA fans wanted to see. Would have been far better than the joke of the Finals and playoffs we got.

That, and the Mavs only know how to do pick n roll or Iso offense made it easier. Still, I'm a Lakers fan, but at the beginning of the year, I said Boston was the best in the east. I said it because I thought Porzingis was going to make the difference for them, and he did make a difference, but because they played a lot of injured teams (not their fault), and Porzingis was injured for most of the playoffs, it's hard to know if he would have made the difference that they have been needing in a big man the last 4-5 years. So although I'm a Lakers fan and not rooting for them like that, I am rooting for Porzingis. This was such a obvious result before the first game was played and it's comical how the media hyped the Mavs. Also, really zoom out and consider how far the Celtics have gone in the playoffs, how they've played in regular seasons, and the overall consistency. They kade a frw key changes and THIS team was dominant. Winning next year would certainly be something, but that hasn't happened in so many years now. Even the great recent teams couldn't do it. Seems crazy to expect that. If they do what Denver did this year then I think it solidifies how great they are. And if they won another on the next 2 or 3 years then that's elite.

Dallas have only been together as a team for 5 months! Everyone is acting like this was the best version of them. But, this team has never had a pre-season together. They are also acting like this is the best version of Luka. But, Luka has been injured with a sprained knee over the entire post-season. They are acting like Dereck Lively is a vet who won't improve rather than a rookie who should make strides between year 1 and year 2. They are also acting like Luka is a total liability over this career. But in two of the past 3 years, Dallas have been in the WCF. People also love to focus on the defense as the reason this team lost, but the reason for their defeat is clearly the offense. You can bang on about Dallas's defense or Luka being a cone, but Dallas held Boston to under 110 points over the series. At the other end, Dallas could only score more than 100 points once in the finals. I would argue that some of that is just down to Luka's injury and a lack of familiarity on the offensive end (in their top-defense period from March onwards, their offense declined significantly) following the trade deadline. Some of that is also down to needing to improve their gameplan. If Dallas have a healthy Luka, a team with a whole season together, and a more varied offensive strategy, why could they not get back to the Finals? That is before one gets to questions about Luka getting in better shape (and staying in shape over the season), free agents, trades, etc. Just as everyone had ridiculously overblown hot takes after every series, let's see what the team looks like next season, after a pre-season together, before ruling them out next year.

Kyrie Irving has been on an All-NBA team three times, including the 2020-21 season when he played 54 games, due to his own choices. It might be time to accept the unpredictable bimodality of his performance? He has only had four seasons with 65+ games. Everyone is so enamored with his artistry, but he really isn't a Hall of Famer.

I do think that Mavs need to have a good look at their offense and figure out how they can utilize Luka in ways that doesnt involved him dribbling and taking bumps every single possession to give them a chance at scoring. They need to get Luka used to playing off ball, and they really need a secondary shot creator who can distribute - I think Kyrie can do that, he just had a really bad finals. This level of usage on Luka cannot be winning formula.

No question but it's not easy to do it. They need a better coach to start, then Domcic have to drastically change his game and finally they need more quality players. Also defensively Doncic and Irving duo is too exploitable to win the title in my opinion.

Completely disagree with the idea that Iguodala didn’t deserve the finals MVP. Warriors are down 2-1 to a team without 2 of their 3 best players. Iggy gets put in the starting lineup and changes the series offensively and defensively. Steph didn’t play well until game 4 and he was the MVP of the league so him being locked down for 3 games by matthew delladova is stain for him in that series when they were heavy favourites after Kyrie went down.
