I remember when this channel was very small meeting in somebody's tiny, brick house. Great to see you continue to grow while sticking to your morals and roots.
I'm not leavin'!!!! Crazy to have been watching for over 12 years. I was a teenager, and now I'm 29 😬 Y'all be continuously awesome 😎👍🏼
You guys need to get the original crew together for a reunion! Would be fun to see everyone again. David W. was the first one I saw throw a DLG.....and now I have around 20 of them. Lol
Wow
Just recently finished printing and flying this plane a bunch. This is my favorite RC plane so far. Prints up nicely, wide speed envelope, cheap to repair. Am already printing another one since it's proven itself and I want to have a couple of them.
Am also completing an upscaled 125% 64mm version that looks great. Can't wait to fly it. More info about it on RC groups. The guy who shared his experience doing this larger version also supplied an stl file for winglet style tips instead of the plain ones. Looks kinda like a Viper Jet now but way less cost. Super cool. I can print and build one of these up for about $100 (PNP version). Typical damage of wingtips or nose are easily repaired.
My current Cobra has 50mm Xfly 4s motor powered with 1400mAh graphene battery and I can get 3-4 minutes easy. I take off from pavement and it's easy. I use a gyro and set it up for maximum rudder sensitivity to help with take offs. Take offs are easy. If it wants to veer left or right the most likley problem is one wheel not spinning as freely as it's twin.
ON landing it takes getting used to as its so efficient it will just keep going but it will allow a pretty surprising amount of nose high pitch attitude when landing so don't be afraid to get it slowed down it doesn't stall as easy as some and can do a sort of semi high-alpha attitude at touchdown if you milk it right.
Wow David.. your hands were shakin like a chihuahua at a family reunion. Thats almost as bad as me trying to solder a flight controller with nerve damage in my neck and arms. You flew it well though. Much better landing when you dont try to surf it in on wake turbulence hahah Those 3d printed planes are pretty impressive.
Yah hope he’s ok
@@WeTheDylan my left leg shakes when the adrenaline hits if you never had shaky thumb then you aint never risked nothing...lol happens to the iced out pilots as well.......cool like the other side of the pillow.
maiden flights are always high stress ....do a shot and a beer your good to go....
@@crashalexander7232 I got that adrenaline rush every time I flew my quads. That's why I used to fly. I was just pokin fun at something we all experience.
I am naturally a shaky person add in a maiden of a fast jet and a camera in your face lol and you have an awesome time 😅
@@davidjester5085 I am right there with ya brother. That was one of the biggest factors making me switch to pinch method to fly quads back in the day.
You don't shake like that when you make them amazing creations and that's when steady really counts!
"SUPER SUPER AWESOME VIDEO!!! 🔥I love the way you put it together!! I think this is one of the best ones yet !! ❤ Looking forward to your next one! It's awesome!!
I started watching this when I was like 7 or 8 I'm 15 now 🥲
Same!
yep you are not only one (ps. I'm from Czechia)
Same man
You younger pilots are the future of our RC Flight future!
I started watching FT at 51 now I'm 63 and its the number 1 most encouraging media for flight and RC. We need you in this great hobby. Thanks for your young enthusiasm. 👍
@@endah9692 This is the nicest sentence I've read in the last 5 years
3:41 whoa shaky thumbs. 👋
Great video! How about more on the actual printing of the plane? How long did it take to print on the X1?
common denominator of all flite test videos: lets go and check out the damage. you guys should print this on a t-shirt 😂
that's what keeps me coming back....lol i can relate ....
Nice flight. I fly off grass. My preference would be for a 200% 80mm EDF model with retracts. But a hand tosser would be a nice addition for those days when you just want to get out for some relaxing flying.
This Old Man from Washington NC always enjoying your videos from also day one ❤️. Great build and maiden video 👍. So amazing how far y'all have advanced. Love You Guys. ✈️🧔💝
Great video I really enjoyed seeing the potential of 3D printed planes
I really think it would be really cool if you guys make a EZ series A-10 warthog 😁👍
Damzzz i like everything about the plane the model the colors the silence..Just Perfect!!!👌🏻
Thank you for being my CBO.
You have it going on. Nice plane.
It's amazing bro ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was awesome 😎
Great video. Would have been cool to see a montage of the 3D printer/s printing the parts :^)
I got a Bambu Lab P1P at the makerspace shop I run and its really fantastic.
love it
Hello flight test I have bein following your channel for a few years now LOVE IT !!! I am a Canadian you should make the AVRO ARROW it would mean alot to us canadians to see that and see it fly !❤
Great job to all the folks that make these videos possibly
YES!!!!!
❤ 2 all FT Staff
Thank you for watching, would not be possible with out you guy
In terms of speed, assuming we use the same LW-PLA, does anyone know how this plane compares to eclipson’s model R?
Enjoyed the video. Wondering if you can help with X1C profiles for colorfabb lwpla. currently printing lwpla on ender 5+ with no problems but would like to use my X1C for this. Thanks
Nice!
Cool jet! So what is going on with the resto on the plane out in the field?
I'm putting mine together now
Wow, really cool guys. It's sooo quiet!!! What EDF power system is in it??
AirHammer out!!
This channel was my childhood
can you share your filament profiles for the colorfab LW for the x1c
are you ever going to make another video about the hovercraft
Do you guys have a wind sock near the runways?
whatching his hands shake so much at 3m makes me feel better.
Whats the peint time on an x1c?
I jzst ordered my first 3d printer ( x1c ) and want to try this
Jeez the walls seem pretty tight, it's not my class because I need large printers but those Bambus can be really nice
Btw love your vids
I’d be curious if there is a profile for Colorfabb LW PLA you used? I know that’s a material that can be a challenge to dial in
Have you tried printing a temp tower with PLA on your printer?
Will flite test be designing easy to print planes ? I’m learning how to on fusion 360 and seems like a fun venture !
I wonder if there's any benefit for you guys to make a hybrid model. So foam board parts and 3d printed parts. Maybe 3d fuselage and foam board wings so you can have a detailed fuselage and light yet functional wings.
what edf did you use?
Wow!
you know with RID coming up one vid i would like to see you guys do is a safety vid how you test a new build how you get ready for maiden you haven done one in some time
Nice
I love this plane. I have printed pla stuff before, but it didn't hold up to the sun/heat.
backing soda works as a kicker too
Would it be possible for you guys to ne able to sell some planes already made that would help so much
Hi!
I’m trying to find your speed build kits in Graupner Europe but nothing.
What is going on?
Is there another retailer in Europe?
Thank you in advance
You guys should try and build the craziest bushplane you can, something like an rc version of Mike Patey's scrappy!
so last year......its all about rocket assisted EDF jets now.....my f22 with a D12 is fun.....lol jk
Can you guys start stocking the lw pla High Temp from colorfabb?
one day I'll finish my Eclipson MXS-R. Was that a full size by the runway?
WE WANT HOVER CRAFT !
What size edf is this plane?
the guy piloting is so nervous he's shaking his tumb big time , he's more twitchy than the plane 🤣🤣🤣
Hi. Great video (as per usual)😊
Does anyone know what camera they had mounted on that 3D printed plane?
Looks like a insta360 go
They use the Insta 360 go's on all their aerial footage mounted on planes cause it's their sponsor. They only use the GoPro on the Mini Quadcopter to chase the planes. It's a sick little camera.
Hey the video 6 or 7 years ago at the red bull competition does anyone know the song in the intro or at the begging pls
This looks like his first time flying an edf jet. His hands are shaking from the adrenaline rush.
Wow I've never been this early
What is the material? ABS or PLA?
Hey there Josh Bixler, I just watched, The UNTOLD Story Of Flite Test. Excellent. I have an idea, but don't know if it can happen. Do you think an RC plane can navigate a way point mission autonomously by video or photos of landmarks? I know they can do waypoint missions guided by GPS.
i realy want one
do you guys know where i can buy a freedom fox rc airplane
All 3d print planes: 100 hours building, 10 minutes flying, 1 second crashing, 1 CZcams video - repeat.
Bamboo printers, you just wake up with jets being printed without you 😅
here is an idea for a future build. try making a UFO based on some of the UFO footage. maybe a flying ball or the flying tic tak, it might be a bit of a challenge in a different way.
hai , how to oder one of this.
That is an amazing video! great review guys ;)
Is it possible to build a super sonic RC plane?
That thing needs a gyro. Super performance, but so small, it's a handfull for sure.
So whats the max speed?
I found that mine was bottlenecked at the intakes. I put 4 cheater holes 2 on top and 2 on bottom and it woke it up gaining much more top-end speed. I find most park flyer ducted fan jets need cheater holes to get maximum performance. The EFlite Habu really woke up with cheater holes.
What are cheaterholes?
@nickpickle7665 Extra holes for air intake on an EDF plane ;-)
Enjoy seeing the David more on camera 😂
Thanks brother
Take a shot every time he mutters she lol.
ive printed 4 of these so far. heres some tips: use PLA not LWPLA, the strength gained far outweighs the additional weight, and LWPLA is temperamental, but PLA makes this model easy. eclipson's settings are important, but they're not law, feel free to mod the temp and layer height to better suit your printer. you can complete the entire jet in just PLA, an use DU-BRO parts to finish it. theres no difference between performance or weight between the T and V tail, unless you want to do knife edges. you'll want an EDF in the neighborhood of 30A 3s 1200g thrust, i use an amazon special with a 50A esc, 3-4s, and 1400g thrust, and that power plant has survived two crashes. the crashes were entirely my fault and not due to the additional weight of PLA. i strongly disagree with flitetest about the LWPLA. although you do save 25%of the weight minimum, its a little too flexible with single wall LWPLA, and its so thin you can see through it, and if youre not careful you can puncture "wing 1 L+R" in particular. make sure that your prints print super flat. any warping is going to make your build a nightmare. better than a plastic welder, better than 3D goop, better than CA and kicker, get a 3D printing pen. for my current iteration, i printed the canopy and control surfaces out of LWPLA, but with 3 walls instead of 1 saving a grand total of 18 grams(insignificant). sunlu PLA+ vs overture airPLA only saved me 180g which is less than 20% weight reduction, and in return i more than doubled the strength. top speed in this configuration with a 4s 3000 is 80mph, but it feels very floaty, even though its stall speed is about 30mph. this is a very fun EDF jet you can fly almost anywhere, and its total cost is very competitive even with production models. its like a baby zeus. highly reccomend getting both tails, but you cannot swap tails, you must build a new airframe for a new tail, but thats the fun part, making your own replacement parts is such a powerful feeling. i hope this helps someone out there. i was looking for this info before i built mine. happy building and soar long. ❤+☮
Have you ever thought to make the golf course a little harder by putting a roof on the greens? Golfers are great at landing their projectiles on roofs and anything of value.
Could you try making a functional Vah medoh from Zelda Breath of the Wild?
So, how fast is it?
You should make a vtol
Not a ground loop but a flip dinger ?
We need more jets
50mm EDF?
They say ‘T-tail’ option but that’s not a T tail. A t-tail is what you’d find on a Piper Tomahawk or Seminole.
Whav's vhe difference? Eterybody knows Ts and Vs are pracvically inverchangeable.
@@ddegn T tail has the horizontal stabilizer at the very top of and attached to the vertical. A standard tail has the horizontal near to and attached to the fuselage. A cruciform tail is in between with the horizontal stabilizer at some point up from the fuselage and attached to the vertical. Words mean things. There is a distinction between these types of tails.
"Words mean things. There is a distinction between these types of tails."
Agreed. I had hoped my comment about Ts and Vs being interchangeable would be seen as nonsense. In case any hadn't noticed, I replaced "T"s with "V" and visa versa. Apparently I had been in a silly mood at the time I replied.
You're of course correct that a t-tail is not at all the same as a v-tail.
Try to build a star destroyer drone and fly it
I have a feeling we are two or three iterations away from 3d printed RC being really cool but for now the pain compared to foam board does not seem worth it. A few sheets of foam can be flying fast in a day
slow and sloppy maybe ....but that thing is a missel compared to foam. apples and potato's
I despise working with foam board so I would love it.
Bought my first 3D printer yesterday too....
Looks like Jason needs more (or less?) coffee to stop the shaking! See @3:06 and on....
Bro his hand wer shaking😂
🤗
🍪
I've watched your videos for years but this last year I've also watched the drone war in Ukraine and wondered if they watch yours too for ideas.
I would maybe only print a complicated plane with much details instead of glueing foam together
Awesome effort. Don’t leave that plane in the sun…medium: to dark colours will just soften and warp in the sun….the one big disadvantage to 3d printed planes. Easy fix though though careful colour selection.
Who's got the full scale plane parked there?
Now add rocket motors to really see how fast it can go :)
done it ...D12 on my f22 it was spectacular...lol
I watched since 6 now I’m 10❤
bro is shaking like CRAZY! Whats wrong?"
The moment arm /tail section is way too short for me, that's why the jet is twitchy or too much throw-in The tail section.
plane builder for many years.
Where is your design for use in Ukraine ,in foam board build kits
You guys should see about getting a deal to build drone weapons for Ukraine. The work that all of you do is amazing and fun to watch. PJ
never do business with the govt
Making me wish I had a 3d printer…
make a plane that has a fpv
