- I had the chance to visit the Earthmoving Legacy Center in Elkader Iowa while I was there visiting MTS. This is a very quick walk through the main building to give you an idea of what is there. There are 3 more buildings to go through, as well as many pieces outside. If you are at all interested in old Caterpillar equipment you have to visit this place! I was also fortunate enough to get to see their restoration workshop, where they are very near completion on a Diesel Seventy Five. Talk about a dream shop for restoring vintage Caterpillars. I really didn't want to get into a lot of detail because I want you to go and check it out for yourself to really appreciate the history and workmanship that can be seen. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video.

Been through Elkader. I never knew that was there. Thank you Nathan.
It’s only been open for a couple/three years - but you would stop the next time your there - thanks for watching
Even though I’ve already been there, I’d go again in a heartbeat. Without the heat wave this time haha.
It’s a pretty awesome place!!
Nathan, My Dad & I purchased a Cat Diesel 75 2E 863 from Stan Reynolds in 1993, Restored it to running Condition , Sold the collection to fellow in California in the 2000,s Bill Graham tried to buy it, but we wouldn’t sell it at the time, My Dad came from Luseland Sask, . Cheers , Ken , Langley BC
Thanks for sharing, I know Bill has one now wonder if it’s that one? I’ll have to look at the serial number next time I’m there. How big was your dad’s collection?
Around 25 between us, I had a 2 ton, 28 wide, diesel 35 wide, Rd7, D2 5u, . There was a fellow west of Red deer, that had one.
I live about an hour south of there, we went through the museum about a year ago & enjoyed it very much. Very impressive place.
It’s sure impressive thanks for watching
Wow thanks Nathan for taking us along. I didn’t know this place existed. It’s definitely on my bucket list.
Glad you enjoyed it and have another cool place to visit - you won’t regret going.
Thanks for the tour Nathan! Great quality work!!
Thanks for watching glad you liked it
That 75 is a work of art.
It most definitely is, you’ve gotta see it in person
Thankyou so very very much for making the video it was beautiful I live in PA and would most likely never would have been able to see this if it wasn't for you thanks again
I’m glad you enjoyed it, never say never, I hope one day you get the chance to get there.
Looks like a father son tour. Good job son.
Maybe grandfather, father, son tour. I think grandpa would love it there
@@ironman3406 oh for sure he would, just how would we get him out of there lol
@@troyduncan7257 put him in the truck lol - better to go in the summer tho…
Awesome to meet you and the folks with Yellow Power. Hopefully I’ll have more folks to give tours to now that you’ve made this vlog LOL
Great meeting you too! Judging by the comments there are a few folks who have added it to their list of places to check out.
Absolutely fantastic! I will add this museum to my bucket list. Thanx for showing it.
Glad you enjoyed thanks for watching
Those machines must have been drained of fluids as there isn’t a drop on the concrete floors!😂👍🏻🇨🇦
I’m not sure of that, they all have brand new everything so they “shouldn’t” leak…
3 more buildings? I have visited 2 of them. This fantastic museum was actually a dealership for another brand of equipment many years ago and I worked there. I really need to make the 2 hour drive up to Elkader again this spring/summer/fall and check it out!
Oh I never knew that, yeah there is the D2/D4 building, the military building, and the other gas tractor building that I never showed in this video. Thanks for watching
At 2:39, that half-track motor grader! Would LOVE to know the story on that baby!
I'm the type who has to read all the signs and placards.
Those were some of the self propelled graders. It was a grader kit that installed over top a tracked tractor like a Twenty, or a Twenty Five. Great question thanks for asking and for watching.
I have not to check this place out! Nice video. 👍
Thanks for watching - it really is an awesome place I only scratched the surface!!
Hey up mate cool video thanks for showing
Thanks for watching much appreciated
I had no idea that was so close to my families old home. Its on my bucket list with Cassville Wisconsin's Stonefield and Cassville Farmall Museum. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Nathan.
You’re very welcome, much to learn about Caterpillar and her history there!
There's a lot of nice looking iron there Nathan! 😧 Thanks for taking us along 🔧🔩
Howdy Zane, thanks for watching my friend, it’s worth a visit if you’re ever that way! Hope you’re doing well stay safe bud!
Very nicely done, I have the power unit version running my sawmill, old D11000, runs great, not nearly as pretty
Thanks for watching - at least it’s still operational that’s what counts
Big thanks great location to view, outstanding finish detail. A Big Thanks :) :)
I do miss operating D6 on our Diary Farm Days.
Nothing quite beats the feeling of operating a price of heavy equipment- thanks for watching
Thanks for the video Nathan! That looks like a pretty cool place to visit and not terribly far away from me as well since I’m in Wisconsin
Not too far at all Gene! I’m actually stayed in prairie du Chien Wisconsin while I was there as it’s the closest place for hotels. Thanks for watching
@@ironman3406 that’s cool! What part of Iowa is that in? I may have to check it out some weekend. I live between Milwaukee and Madison. I’m a big IH guy but like seeing that stuff as well. Your welcome! I enjoy your videos that’s for sure.
@@geneguenther4325 it’s right in Elkader Iowa
@@ironman3406 I checked and it’s 3 hours from me
Been there twice, it has to be seen to be appreciated!
You got that right! Thanks for watching
@@ironman3406 Did you get my message about Sixty rings. I got them from Otto Gas Engine works in Maryland.
Wow that place looks amazing! I may have to find my way there.
You won’t regret it if you do!
Nathan! Good to see you again Buddy. I will have to add the legacy Center to my bucket list. There's a pretty nice CAT museum and restoration shop at Power Land Heritage Park in Brooks Oregon. They hold the Great Oregon Steamup there every year.
Howdy Matt, yah I’ve heard they have a nice place there too. Hope you are doing good!!
Awesome I’d love to check that place out and I’d love to operate everything in there lol thanks for sharing
Not too much of it gets taken out. But yah some nice stuff there!
Another great Video Nathan some cool old tractors there.
Yeah thanks beautiful workmanship out of that shop.
Nice tour Nathan. I was there when ACMOC had the national show there. I saw some other Yellow power people in the backround.
It’s a really nice place, I had never been and couldn’t make the ACMOC show due to borders being closed. I’ll visit again for sure, yes a few of us were there :)
You should try and visit the HCEA museum in Bowling Green Ohio at some point.
Yes it’s on my list of places to visit thanks for watching
I have been there and it is awesome!
Yea it great thanks for watching
The restoration shop is like a preview of what @Squatch253 shop will look like when he hits the big time
Haha yah this is a whole new level of restoration
Okay, this place looks pretty neat. You might need to take your wife down for a walk through.
It’s pretty great, life goals lol
Bet that equipment with the iron wheels rode rough
They are only as rough as you make them, good flat ground they aren’t too bad.
Dam I wonder how much it cost to have the rail links cast, I would love to put under carriage under my old D6-9U
I can’t even begin to imagine the cost! Out of my budget 😂
Fascinating place.. a bit to far from the UK to visit though... Not meant as a criticism, but why was the picture shaky, was it something to do with a setting on the camera?
That is a fair question, I added a new mic to my go pro for two reasons, make it more clear to understand when I’m talking and to get rid of the noise that could be heard every time I moved my hand. However it added some too heavy weight to the whole apparatus now that makes it harder for me to keep it steady when walking. Now I have to add a gimbal to the mix to compensate for all of that.
@@ironman3406 Thanks Nathan 👍
I am just curious if these actually run or just look nice.
They are both mechanical and cosmetic restorations, so they all run as far as I was told.
