I started out slow on this channel. Now I'm addicted.
I know me to...I'm like trying to move on...but cant...lol Bless
It's a vibe of its own isn't it? So relaxing!! I love the videos..lots of good work goes into good CZcams channels with narration and getting and editing so many hours of footage and just the work alone with the trips.
I stumbled onto lost lakes last fall, as way to get away from working in the ICU after traveling to CA had been closed so long. I became quickly addicted thereafter. His videos are really films so artfully shot and such incredible scenery and, wildlife, fishing, night-sky's, Nlights etc. It's hard to beat Jon's ability to capture N.Ont's beauty.
The entire time watching i am thinking where do you shower??😅😅😅
@@ladanmoharer648 you hang the shower on the sky hook.
I guess I'm nuts but between the Budniks, Bairds, and Lost Lakes I just can't seem to get enough of Canadians canoeing and camping. Beautiful again Jon, thanks for the work!
Those are my top three too :p
same I got a few english ones as well, but I love Jon's long style of filming it feels like I'm on a trip.
If you're nuts then I guess I am too, love these videos........I'm recently retired, turn 60 next month, and will be able to spend more time in my canoe and doing some tripping as well, just not real remote like Budnik and John, but tripping none the less. My canoe is a Old Town Discovery 169, so portaging is not something I'll be able to really do with the shoulder issues I have.
You aren't nuts, well maybe we both are-
Don’t forget about Xander!!!!!
Lost Lakes, this is breathtaking and I'm not even finished watching! Hard to believe one can find such beautiful cinematography, for free, on CZcams. This man deserves so much more and substantially more subs! This is not merely a video, this is a film.
Thank you so much!!
@@LostLakes no, seriously, thank you. I wish I could do more than just leave y'all a comment... Like bring you a few million subscribers!! You both work very hard to bring so much joy to so many! If only I had a magic lamp...
@@jt0mi 💚💚
@@LostLakescertainly well deserved!
I'm 52 and stuck in Florida. Would make a deal with the Devil to be up there with you! 😂
Absolutely wonderful content! This is absolutely escapism for me. So stressed out nowadays with everything i got going on but when I'm watching I imagine I'm hanging with you. Your cinematic eye is beautiful enough to easily imagine being there!
Very appreciated! ❤👍
Yes! I've been saying that for years now! Perfectly said.
BEAUTIFULLY done as usual. You truly have a way of making your videos look like a National Geographic Documentary. Your talent is unbelievable. I so love your videos.
Thanks so much Sally :)
I agree! So talented. This channel is a gift.
I know, right?? and going back to the beginning, you can watch him start to getting good at doing them.
Yes I agree wholeheartedly 🙏 I can't get enough of Jon's video's ❤
Always the philosopher. Not too many people do what you do. I'm so glad you bring us along to experience the wild places you crave so much.
I love your content man. You seemingly take a plain, ordinary vlogumentary into a wholesome experience. You know how to just talk enough, but not too much to the point I’m already on to the next video in my scroll feed. You can tell when people do this for the views, and those who do it for the love of doing it. Whatever it is that’s being done, you’re there; in the moment.
You captivated that here perfectly. Congratulations on your success, Sir. Keep living.
Truly appreciate that Matthew!
@@LostLakes Anytime man! Oh, and just for a fyi, the Potomac River that runs through the northeastern states has a crazy amount of species of fish and plenty of places to camp. It doesn’t exactly match your forte, but I live in Maryland and the Potomac river always has something to offer. In case you’re every nearby. Cheers
I like your solo trips, they really are calming and allow the viewer to just, simply, enoy the scenery.
I’m in my 60’s now. Bad back, bad shoulder-but when younger I spent 15 years traversing the BWCA and the Quetico throughout all areas of the parks, with kids, spouse, groups, and many solos. Your videos bring me back with so much reality-I’m reliving those trips. Now you’ve got me wondering if I might try another solo trip despite my current injuries.
Love these video documentaries, thx for the time invested in creating these!
Yes. Thanks for the time and effort.
I couldn’t agree more. As a Minnesota native and also had many trips in the BWCA it brings me back there as I now currently reside in south Florida.
I think I'm in the same boat as you, Wally. While not so lucky to be in BWCA vicinity. I have been fortunate to paddle a few of the rivers in N. central ONT and loved every minute. Watching his trips so makes me want to get out there and do it again. Now that I'm semi retired, I think I'm ready to trade in my FourWinns for a nice 17 royalex and go back to these last areas of pristine wilderness.
In my early 60s too and I just started solo trips 3 years ago. Had a knee replacement this year and I definitely will be back out next year. Jon’s videos keep the dream alive for me. Just give it a try. If you can’t portage do paddle in sites. Better than sitting at home.
I don't know how you can go to so many remote places alone. You have nerves of steel! However, I really appreciate that you bring us along with you.
The Scotch has to help !!!!😂😂😂
Nobody does it better. Thanks for taking us on another trip.
As always I enjoyed the solitude, the magical beauty, the wildlife, the fishing, the photography. Thank you for this wonderful experience, John.
Man, what a trip....the bit with Northern lights and early morning ( day 7-8, what a 24hrs.)...I couldn't stop smiling and it brought me to tears....absolutely bloody amazing.....thank you so much.....👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🍺🍺🍺
Jon, you are legend. Thanks again for stirring memories in an old man.
Qualty audio with quality sounds of silence that everyone should experience! Well done again. Keep doing what you love.
Thanks for bringing me along on another fantastic journey. Happy the strength is coming back .🇨🇦
The relaxed pace of your journey along with your focus on providing the viewers with excellent videography have really created a masterpiece here. Amazing attention to detail. One of your all time best creations! You keep getting better and better. Thank you!
Much appreciated!
You should make a gallery of your pictures from the trips. You and Xander take great shots of nature.
Rented a cabin in the woods. Watching this in my bunk...
Seeing that Snow Jet brought back memories of the 70s and 80s when there were about 24 different brands of snowmobiles. Now there are only 3 or 4. That Snow Jet must 45 or 50 years old. This expedition you recorded was just amazing. I hope people watch your video 100 years from now and get a taste of what it was like now.
It sure is a great day when a new video from Lost Lakes hits the feed. This is beautiful and so contemplative. Might be one of the best shot videos yet Jon. Great film!
Your cinematography is so impressive to say the least. To have the mindset while doing everything else that involves camping does not go unnoticed from this viewer.
Hi Jon, watching you you tube channel has inspired me to do something similar. I am about to buy a 17 ft Nova Craft and start doing some solo trips around New Zealand and do something like you are except here in my own land and it should be a load of fun, I am 67 years old retired and have the time to do so. So once I get started I will give you a link to my channel, thank you for giving me the inspiration.
This is exactly how I want to spend my Friday night, great premiere!! All I am missing to make this evening legendary are some Doritos and craft beer. Another phenomenal video. Tell Erin “hi” :)
Amazing barred owl! 10:45
Thank goodness a new Lost Lakes!🎉🎉🎉
Jon, I hope you and Erin have had a great fall. I haven't watched the video yet, so I'm not sure if you've mentioned it, but I assume you've either been married or will be soon.
Congratulations to two fine people. Thank for all you do! I needed this 1hr 45 min of peace to look forward to.
I am an avid outdoorsman who works a pretty mundane desk job, still I trek the wilderness when I can so I have to live vicariously through channels like this when I have the urge and right now the desire for that commune is burning hot within my soul. I long for the healing of spirit and mind that comes with an existence unburdened by the bombarding of my senses, if only for a few days out of a year.
I feel ya man, been there. Keep making time for those escapes as often as you can
Man, if the pictures couldn’t do it justice, Wabakimi must’ve been truly amazing. Your sweeping vistas of the vast north woods from the drone really accentuate the solitude. Here’s to peanut butter and honey.
Actually your's and Xander's Videos wetter our appetite for fall and winter trips, which is unheard of where we live. We do it now for 4 years. Thank you again
One of the most beautiful videos I have ever watched. Really gorgeous being surrounded by that landscape in such solitude with the music of Nature: birds, wind, rain, the waves of the lake…and those blissful sights of the northern lights, the darkness of a storm coming up…A huge feeling of gratitude for being granted such an experience.
Absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing this experience. That foggy morning was insane! I totally resonate with your thoughts on solitude, thanks for putting it to words so eloquently.
Thank you so much :)
Back in '91 I and four other guys drove as far north as you could go in Ontario to a place called Rat Rapids and rented a couple of boats. Spent a week camping on Lake Osnaburgh and caught a lot of fish and never saw a mosquito. It was miraculous.
I know what I'm doing next summer
I have no idea how I got to this channel but iv never slammed my finger on the sub button so fast… relaxing, interesting content, editing is perfect, and intelligent commentary.. love it! Cheers from Ottawa, Ont ✌🏻🇨🇦
Much appreciated!
This one gave me the Emotional Shiver ✅️
I my youth and throughout my career I spent many years in the forest and rivers of Michigan and Canada as a Ranger with the Department Of Natural Resources . I am a old man now , you have brought back so many fond memories.Thank you .
Another great video from Jontario, a.k.a. Troutslayer420
I'll have something good to watch tonight 🔥🐟🛶👍🐠
Another awesome adventure! The northern lights were amazing, but the “wow” moments on the foggy morning…no words. Thanks for sharing this with us!!!
Ah Jon Look at you go!!!! I have watched you almost from your start and knew you would grow your channel. You have all the insight and qualities and talent to make your channel a huge success. In my life I was blessed to have a generational link to Temagami and can say your videos bring me to my connection with our great land. Thanks for being silly and witty and fun to watch. Our Canadian CZcamsrs are Rockin it !❤🇨🇦
Thank you so much!!
John this is incredible work. Your production value is increasing everyday. Beautiful footage of ontario.
We call esters “mooseback’s” here in Nova Scotia. They run for many km’s. Makes for great trails of hard ground as it’s usually swampy on either side.
I know you probably hear it a lot, as you should... but what an amazing video. I find a lot of calmness and tranquility watching your life.
I know I've personally said this before, but there is not one other channel that I can watch for an hour plus, and not catch myself looking away or distracted by my phone while watching. You have a way of dragging us in and keeping us engaged. Keep it up, I know it isn't easy work. It certainly doesn't go unnoticed.
Thanks for sharing. I had a rough week mentally. This video alone helped out with that.
Your videos never disappoint. They’re so informative and educational. Thank you for sharing this video.. amazing scenery with your camera and drone. It’s obvious that you do your research for your trips that’s why they are so great. The aerial views enable your viewers to experience something they’ll probably never have the opportunity to see.
Thanks so much Rebecca!
@@LostLakes thank you for sharing your videos!
I saw that you got some negative feedback on your engagement video. I thought it was very charming and pleased that you wanted to share your happiness with us. Congtatulations.
Where did you see the engagement video?
Much appreciated! Internet can be nasty but most people are very kind, like yourself :)
Here it is :)

@@LostLakes much appreciated kind sir :) another video to enjoy
your drone shots make the boreal look so vast and unending; thanks for another awesome video Jon
Absolutely beautiful shot you got on the calf and the cow. Their reflection on the lake when they walking next to it was just the best.
This channel is unmatched. Bravo 👏🏻
Thank you so much!
Glad the knee is holding up Jon!
Wow is right, transported to a beautiful place, thanks again.
Truly your best masterpiece…..all of it ….I’m jealous, happy, sad and eternally grateful for this little slice of heaven…..your film making is just amazing, I love how some of the shots you took aren’t centred in frame but off to the side, creating a different perspective of what you’re portraying….love it….my three favourite shots are - that little bird in the jack pine, you could see it’s breath - the shot of the 3 loons in the bay near the end of the video, a fair sized fish breached ( wonder if anyone noticed lol) - my favourite was the shot of you going out early and you had the wherewithal to set up the camera on shore to capture you paddling by with the sun rising….epic….glad you got out….glad the knee held up ….glad you enjoyed some fish….but mostly glad you enjoyed some inner peace….great memories….great trip….all the best
Very much appreciated SSW! That rusty blackbird's breath struck me too and good catch on the breach...you're winning my little easter egg hunt :)
As always this is about to be an absolutely masterpiece
I'm watching the catch and release, looking at Robin and we're both laughing and drooling. Lol, great video especially the northern lights. I haven't seen them since the early 60's. Thanks for sharing.
So glad you got to enjoy that BiG storm!!! In 38 years of living in Cleveland Ohio. Storms are my favorite part of living this far north! Besides winter & Snow! I love winter so much!!!
Also
..... About being alone! I know that feeling all 2 well! But seeing the pics at the end of your post! Somehow gave me a good feeling! Like maybe i can find a activity that i can enjoy like you enjoy doing what you do! Thanks 4 being you brother!!! much love from Cleveland Ohio!
Thanks for taking us along again Jon. Another beautiful soul soothing video. I wonder if you are able to grasp how deeply you touch us with your art. You’re not just another CZcamsr Jon. You’re an artist. Thank you. ❤
💚💚
Many, many thanks Jon for allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the hard work that goes into making these for us. Much love and respect, and another amazing trip!!!
I cannot wait, I saved the two most recent trips for tonight since I am off and I will be binge watching both with food 😮💨
He has a gift to draw people in. We love watching his videos .
I hope he never gets a fat head and always stays humble.
Fame has a way of killing the sweet and humble.
Thank you! :)
Magical trip. Thanks for bringing us along.
Another peaceful trip in nature !!!!
I liked what you read out of the book you were reading about loneliness. It's funny, your videos always provide something that is much needed for me at the time. The video as always, a joy to watch. Wonderful shots. I think you have found your calling...because no one's videos come close to yours. I think the things in the book that you connected with are signs that YOU are on the right path fulfilling your destiny. Thanks once again for taking us along. ❤
Thank you so much Mary! :)
It gives me comfort to see you back with a bottle of spirits. I was worried about you there for a while. All the best.
Excellent! Once again, you have provided Liz and I with a great evening of your adventures. You have such a beautiful country. I'm envious, although many people think I live in Canada when I say the Upper Peninsula! Thank you so much, and thank you for working Mike into your trip. T&L
Thanks so much you two! Thoroughly enjoyed Mike's book and it was surreal the be reading that part of the book which took place where I was camped...cannot fathom the odds
How wonderful, an epic adventure for sure. What an interesting dream at the start Jon. There's so much there. Thanks for sharing.
I never knew what to comment and say until now- you’re an amazing writer. ✅
1:03:00 is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and with the music. I could just sit out there all night and find myself under that sky. Man what a beautiful world we live in
Once again, I'm grateful for a wonderful video experience from you! Thank you so much. You put the calm in the groove at the end of the week.
That's the real world for sure Jon! I used to live on the edge of the Boundary Waters. I had to retreat back home and move in with family because of health issues. Your videos take me back to what I miss so much! Thanks for sharing and keep up the brilliant work!
You are the best remote travel vlogger and enthusiast!
Fantastic! So glad to see that your knee rehab has gone well. Looking forward to your next adventure! Cheers 🍻
What a superb video. Super chilled presentation coupled with the stunning beauty of the lakes. The Northern Lights were amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Living the dream Jon!
I highly recommend going to Esker Lakes Provincial Park. It is where I saw my first eskers as well a couple of years ago!
I went years ago but I think I just went to fish...are they actually exposed sand ridges? Or relatively forested?
@@LostLakes They are forested. We also did Kettle Lakes Provincial Park on that trip where the eskers are much more pronounced and there was a lot more sand.
Lovely film, Jon. Thanks.
The time you put into capturing all these angles is crazy but amazing🔥.. Inspiring for future creations
So Good To See You Jon. Another Camping Adventure. Super Pumped To Watch This. Amazing Wildlife Mama Moose And Calf.
Great trip!.Thank you for the journey.
Incredible. Thanks for the experience.
Wonderful video Jon.
What a great adventure. Thanks Jon. Fantastic scenery and photography. Would be wonderful to make our way up to Canada one day. Cheers from AUS.
Good to see you John..I know about the knees...walking sticks might come u. Handy
You did it again, Jon. Another trip, another home run. I'm happy to hear your knee held up even if the portages weren't too strenuous. And your photography was top-notch. The northern lights vignette with the music you set it to was truly magical and the shot of your silhouette and the lights reflecting in the water was worthy of a top, professional cinematographer. I could have watched that for hours. Now that the fall season is turning to winter, I suppose you'll be do some deep winter trips again. I enjoy those but not nearly as much as the summer/fall trips that truly show off that unimaginable far north country you guys in Canada are blessed with. Peace, brother.
Thank you so much Larry!
Another epic adventure, Jon! thank you so much for bringing us along. Your videography and photography are exceptional and draw us in with you. I'm glad your knee is doing better. Best wishes to Erin.
