    Thank you so much for the video, Show you a trick, you don’t have to drop subframe to have access the transfer case , just disconnect 14mm steering shaft bolt under dash, loosen six subframe bolts in the back, don’t touch two front subframe bolts, remove driver side tranny mount bolts, passenger side 18mm mount bolt, let subframe hang, jack up tranny as high as you can and support it with jack stand, remove bank 1 exhaust manifold, etc, then you can let transfer case slip out

    First, great editing. Makes me think I need to step up my game...but only so much I can do with iMovie. Second, great work on the transfer case. I just had to have my Infiniti QX60 transfer case rebuilt as it developed a bad bearing at 107K miles. Fluid burned on a long trip. After watching this I'm surprised I didn't get charged more...

    The small hole between the 2 seals on the transmission side of the transfers case is for drainage when a leak happens. Leaks out the small hole and out the larger hole where the transfer case mates to the transmission. The type of fluid leaking out the bottom indicates which seal is leaking. It will either be CVT fluid or transfers case fluid. The transfer case fluid is 80w90 fluid which will be thicker than the transmission(CVT) fluid. The CVT fluid is NOT red, more like light brown. Either way the transfer case needs to be resealed if it's leaking.

    • @Autofixpals
      @Autofixpals  Před 5 lety +3

      you can go aftermarket with the Rear shocks, you should be fine. Nissan Front struts last a VERY long time before they start leaking. However a good aftermarket quick strut might be the way to go if you dont plan on keeping the car for another 100k mile. I dont know of too many people having issues with monroe OEspectrum struts. I think the best person to ask about aftermarket struts is Eric of south main auto. he deals with a lot of aftermarket parts and i am sure has experience with most brands.

  • @monstermike2541
    @monstermike2541 Před 4 lety +2

    good video. but for the outer seal and the seal in the carrier you DO NOT have to pull the transfer case. with a lift is a 1000X easier but it can be done on the ground in a few hours with minimal tool.

    • @Autofixpals
      @Autofixpals  Před 4 lety

      absolutely. But you better not tell Nissan that. lmao 🤣 Unfortunately only half the time is it the carrier seal thats leaking alone. The other half is the seals between the Trans and case. some you win some you don't. I would hate to do this without a lift. however it is doable.

    I see you’re a Nissan technician. I work at a Nissan dealer too and I had just done a sub assembly on a 14 pathfinder.. I had left the axle and transfer case on passenger side in the car and now that I had started the vehicle I have a leak of cvt fluid coming out of the transfer case where the axle goes into.. but now I don’t have the leak anymore now that’s it’s warmed and fluid is adjusted.. I don’t know if I should perform this bulletin of resealing transfer case. What are your thoughts?

    • @Autofixpals
      @Autofixpals  Před 4 lety

      clean it good. Drive it hard, check for leaks, if there is no leaks ship it. If you do the job under warranty the labor will overlap and you will get paid peanuts for the job... I have seen this before and i am not exactly sure what happened but i cleaned it up set the fluid level and the leak was gone. Car has not returned for a leak.
      Good luck.

      I Nissan Reman is about 2200usd. Dont get a Used one. no its just bad luck. Make sure your mechanic knows how to set the fluid level correctly, make sure he clears the learned values in the TCM, and see if there is any TCM updates available for your vehicle...
