      Yes. Agreed. V20 also has proper Bluetooth with aptX (like the Note). Erica please test V20 with aptX Bluetooth headphones. I've had Samsung Notes 2, 3, 4 and 5 (along with keeping Note 4 for removable battery and MicroSD slot - Note 4 still used in 4WD for large music library and offline mapping). I won't go for a Note 7 with glued-in battery - even when re-released. The V20 with quality DAC suits me if it can be rooted (any news on that front?). LG should also add a Wacom digitizer and pen to the next V20 version IMHO. If the international V20 can be rooted I will keep my Note 5 just for the spen, taking notes and scribling ideas, and go with the LG as my main device.

    Superb overview! Here are some questions:
    1.Does the phone have FM radio?
    2. Is the front 5MP f1.9 camera a downgrade from the 8mp f2.0 camera in LG G4, G5 and V10?
    3. Does it have x2 optical zoom like the iPhone 7?
    4. What is the range of the IR blaster cone? The HTC M8 was almost 360 degrees, the Lg G4 was only 5-10 degrees.
    5. Can we expect shoddy finishing like the back of your plastic top and bottom bezels?
    6. What is the battery drain over the night (say 9 hours) with wifi off? LG G4 can do 0% drain (concerned about second display).
    7. Is the LCD contrast ratio as good as the G4? There were many quality problems with the G5
    8. Can you change the colour temperature and calibration in Nougat to fix factory settings and get the whites just right and remove green tint?
    9. Can the native video app record at 60fps?
    10. Can it play Apple Lossless M4A files natively? Still missing this feature in Android
    11. Does the back of the phone have terminals for wireless charging for future case back mods? e.g plastic cover with wireless sticker mod?
    12. What are the MIMO capabilities of the phone?
    13. Can you ask LG what they have done this time around to prevent the notorious bootloop?
    14. If you take the phone out of your pocket do the volume buttons have enough tension as to not be inadvertently pressed?
    15. Are those B&O headphones only in-ear plugs or do they come with an attachment that makes them like Apple earpods?
    16. The B&O headphone frequency range is 20hz-16kHz. The frequency range of the old Apple Earpods are a massively wide 5hz-21kHz!! That means better treble and unbelievable bass. Are the included headphones really up to the job because on paper they are a downgrade from iPhone 5 headphones.
    Thank you!

    • @Spooky_Psyche
      @Spooky_Psyche Před 8 lety +2

      This does not have any optical zoom. Some people confuse the switching between standard angle camera and wide angle camera "zooming," but it's not. It's just wide angle and standard angle. I guess if you really wanted to relate it to zooming, you could say that the wide angle camera is technically zooming out from the standard camera, but that's still not really the case.

    • @frostiimoon
      @frostiimoon Před 8 lety

      the frequency response is generally useless for describing the sound characteristics. best to take a look at a frequency response graph

    • @MrTjanman
      @MrTjanman Před 8 lety +1

      16. Frequency range has very little to do with the quality of the bass and treble. The Shure Se425 for example have a frequency range from 20,0 to 19.000,0 Hz and cost 250 euros and the Apple earbuds don't come close to the sound the Shures produce. There's much more to headphones than the frequency range.
      NB. I listened to my friends B&O H3's once and compared to my Sony earbuds at the time they were much, much better. The Sony's were already better than my previous earbuds, the Apple earbuds. So I don't think you have to worry, you could always read some reviews of course.

      I agree. Something about the V10 just looked awesome. I am still not a fan of how LG are implementing the dual cameras into their design. They should look at how Huawei (P9 & Honor 8), HTC (M8), and now even Apple (iPhone 7 Plus) have done it. They made it so it isn't too distracting. LG's implementation looks a little lobsided. They should have considered a visor like design, similar to the Nexus 6P perhaps.

    I love that they moved the volume buttons to the side. I have the V10 (which I love) but I hate starting up a CZcams video only to find that I left the volume at max for a louder environment and I end up in a mad scramble to find the volume down key to turn it down. Not only that but using the volume key as a camera shutter button is completely useless when your hand has to partially (or fully) cover the lens in order to push it.
    I'm not one to upgrade each year (I upgraded to the V10 after 3yrs with the Samsung Note 2) so I'll probably be hanging back until the V30, but I'm glad to see LG kept the good stuff (second screen, DAC, manual camera, beautiful screen, etc) and is still working for the betterment of the V series with minor improvements throughout.
    Excellent video. Keep up the great work!

    • @paranee3552
      @paranee3552 Před 8 lety +2

      LG has a recent trend of being the first with their android updates even with the past 2 major updates cause they are removing lots of LG features and making it more stock. Samsung has more proprietary software tweaks so it will take longer. pros and cons for both I guess

    • @paranee3552
      @paranee3552 Před 8 lety +3

      +Duck of death not exactly, their success is tied directly to advertisement. Samsung is really good at it (almost apple lvl) and LG's is dogshit, they don't even know how to advertise their phone's features and how it stands out or better than others. I bet no one is gonna know wat a V20 is and less so it's features.

    • @paranee3552
      @paranee3552 Před 8 lety +1

      +Duck of death Like with the V20 LG has a great opportunity to jab other competitors; iPhone 7 no headphone vs quad DAC,useless telephoto camera vs useful wide angle; Note7 exploding Batt vs removable batt; Waterproof vs transit drop-proof...ect. but they won't do jackshit or do it in a way that it's cringy

    • @paranee3552
      @paranee3552 Před 8 lety

      +Duck of death actually I agree with the waterproofing slightly cause it's very convenient to just run it under the water and clean ur phone, and esp when I leave my s7 under the sun while ballin, I just run it under the water cooler and it's all cooled down. But I've never dropped my phone in a water source before but have dropped it on the ground several times(broke my s7 screen😔) so I do value 810g drop res. to water res. esp aftr looking at the drop test frm Android Authority, it's durable af

      +Duck of death looks wise it's not the sexiest like a HTC or S7 but is in my opinion no where near being a eye sore or ugly like the G5. Can't even tell the plastic apart. It just looks like a business phone, bland and uninteresting but buit with high quality precision and has a premium design. Nothing to brag or complain about

    Erica nice unboxing video!
    My areas of curiosity....
    1. Battery Life: Under aggressive high brightness multiple app use (active and background) how many hours can this last? Please let it be real world usage of emails, CZcams, dual window, file sharing, etc.
    2. Speaker/ Mic: How well can you and caller hear one another on speaker phone? How loud and clear is the music coming from the speakers? I am outdoors in the city elements and need a phone that can belt out sound via speaker phone as well as carry my voice to the caller.
    3. Screen Brightness: How well can you view the main and secondary screens outdoors?
    4. Nougat Multi Window: Is multiwindow supportive of many apps? Commonly used apps (CZcams, FB, Twitter etc, Word Documents). Is it also supportive of downloaded apps?
    5. 4G Connectivity / Wifi / Call Quality: How does it manage data usage with 4G and wifi? Does the earpiece on the handset produce clear, loud sound during voice calls?
    Erica thanks in advance for your diligence!

    I got my note 7 two weeks ago, it's a beast of a phone. Good battery life too, I can easily get 6 hours of SOT. I'll be getting the v20 as my second phone, it's going to be my first LG phone since the G2.

    Hello Erica. Thank you for showing the IR blaster on the top. You asked for questions/ideas. Not sure if you remember me from comments I made in your note 7 video but I'd like to know some of the more technical features. For example, if it has an FM radio chip please briefly demonstrate. Also, the note 3 had a barometer, temperature sensor AND a humidity sensor. The humidity and thermometer sensors were discontinued. It's really hard to find accurate truthful specifications on comparison websites so if you're able to cover stuff like this in a mini techy bit, that would be great. Many thanks and keep up the excellent reviews, Kev

      I already know the screen is superior on the Samsung phone.. Doesn't have the blue tint. And I'm not sure if I could get used to the second screen wasting some of the screen real estate.. But meh. LG supports band 66 which is new but I never had an LG phone before

    YYYYEEEEESSSSS - thank you so much for showing the phone back removal and battery install process. I have been wondering how it would work, if it was more like my existing Note II - yes I said I still use the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from 2012 and love it and my removable battery - or if LG was sticking with that weird modular replaceable battery I saw once.
    Done, the V20 is the replacement phone for me FINALLY with its replaceable battery and the amazing sound recording as well as playback capabilities of the phone. I love how LG looked at Apple removing audio capabilities of their newest phone and decided to double down by including four DAC chips and multiple microphones. I'm excited to get my hands on this.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owner here. I just love the pretty blue coral color of my phone. Note 7 all the way. Despite the recall of the battery that Samsung did NOT manufacture. Not all Note 7 were affected and unlike MOST manufactures, Samsung did have a VOLUNTARY recall, Samsung told all Note 7 owners to return the phone for a revamp version, also they are giving a free $25 store gift card for those that have a Note 7. I am a loyal customer of Samsung. because their products are high end, reliable and they do stand behind their products. Now, I'm not trying to show off, everybody has a particular manufacture that they like more so then others. But, this is my 5th Note phone that I own. I had Note phone's 2 through 7. I just love the fact that I can pull out that magic wand and fluently write, draw, paint and color on my screen. This is the best Note from previous Note models. Oh I could just go on and on about all the cool stuff the Note 7 can do, from the 4K UHD display and the phone's power, and how fast it is.

    What would you say is your stance on waterproofing and removable battery? If you had to choose two identical devices, lets say one V20 was IP68 waterproof and one V20 was removable battery, which of the 2 features would you prefer? Do you think that the non-waterproof one could handle some light spills or being kept in a soggy jacket because of a rainy day? (most modern devices have SOME sort of waterproof resistance though perhaps not enough to get an official rating). ALSO I would love if you were to try this device with an extended battery, like ZEROLemon (there are others that are smaller too). For $50 you can get several days on one battery. Removable battery also means that, while the battery on most devices becomes nearly useless after 1.5-2 years, having removable battery means you can just replace it and get full battery endurance again for $50 rather than having to drop $700 on a new phone every 2 years. Thanks!

    2. How is the battery life?
    3.how fast does charge vs Note 7?
    4. How bright is the display vs Note 7 and V10 especial in sunlight
    5. How is the speaker sound vs N7 and V10
    6. Do a scratch test vs the N7
    7. Which gorilla glass does it have?
    8. Test the wifi GPS and cellular signal vs N7
    9. Benchmarks it against N7
    10. What's new in the Ui VS V10
    11. Does it have a ram management the way S7 and Note7 have?
    12. Does it have a built in EQ and can you use it on Google music? Since the US version has no B&O tuning
    13. Will it come with a gift like the V10

I'm a photographer and a party planner and have to run around all day with one phone for use so i need the removable battery and manual features of the camera. for me it's much easier for me to carry around a few extra batteries in my pocket and not having to worrie about leaving somewhere to charge. Thank you LG!

    Well,5 month ago I bought the most durable smatrphone,the Lg V10.A superb camera,nice DAC,unique design,a second screen and TWO LAYERS OF GORILLA glass.Two days a go my friend was trying to show me something on the laptop and pushed my phone from the table,the phone was dropped from no more than 60 cm on a wooden floor,it landed face down and the TWO LAYERS OF GORILLA GLASS cracked,and created a thin beautiful line from right to lef.I like the V20,beautiful upgrade but I wont bet my money on the LG TOUGHNESS again.

    So I have the v10 been using it for awhile and the two big things I'm worried about is the "screen burn in" when you leave it on one still image for a long time.
    And the battery life. Both of these things are the only problems I even have with the v10
    If you can confirm that the screen and power saving are better on the new v20 I'll definitely owe you one!

    LG sure going to make the powerusers happy with the high grade DAC, IR blaster, Removable Battery & SD Card.
    How is the battery life and Screen quality comparing to a Note 4, 5, 7?
    Can you include a test for the DAC in your review.
    1. with the use of your earbuts
    2. with the use of a high grade headphone like the senheiser Momentum
    3. Sound comparison on the source e.g. Spotify, Tidal & Local player with high res files.

    1) temp check (there were quite a number of cases with burnt motherboards in the G4 here which turned ppl away from LG. I understand S820 is improved, but it's still hot and I didn't heard about heat dissipating mechanisms from LG, unlike Sammy and Sony)
    2) Snappiness, esp under multi-windows, gaming, etc (I noticed a bit lag when switching pages/apps)
    3) battery life
