Catherine Zeta-Jones is the best part of _Chicago._ Her bold, powerful singing voice made every number she was in one of the best in the film.
Fun fact about Catherine Zeta-Jones, when she was younger she had to have a tracheostomy tube put in due to an allergic rection she had. (basically a hole is made into the trachea below the obstruction to allow the person to breath.) A lot of times people who have had it done suffer with scaring. Any close ups of her neck you'll notice a small scar running across her neck which is where the insison was made. I know because I have my own, tube not scar, however I know what thye look like and she did an interview on a pritish tv show where she talked about it.
She DID win an Oscar for her performance as Velma, and deservedly so!
Thank you
I first heard her sing in Rock of Ages, which (disappointingly) wasn't even mentioned (and I liked better than any of her numbers in Chicago).
@@MsMojoyou totally forgot about Alyssa Milano who's not only perfect great and is royalty but she also can sing very well.
Taron Egerton in Rocket Man is so overlooked it breaks my heart, he’s absolutely impresive playing Elton John and deserves more recognition 💔💔💔
Taron, Bradley Cooper, and Christian Bale all deserve places on this list
I actually enjoyed Taron Egerton singing better than Elton’s !
Granted, I'm a Broadway geek. But most of these people came from a musical background to start with. So it shouldn't have come as a shock they could sing. The one that blew me away, though was John C Reilly in Chicago. When he sang Mr Cellophane, it was beautiful ❤
Catherine was from musical theater since she started in musicals in London. Queen Latifah and Christine Baranski were as awesome as you'd expect. But I was very surprised at Renee Zelwegger and Richard Gere. But yeah, John C Reilly was a revelation. He is a criminally underrated talent.
When he hits that, "Never even knoooooooooooooooow," I was shook.
Right ?!?
Wasn't he also in musical theatre though???
@3StarLogo ..I didn't see anything about him being on stage until after he was already acting.
Amanda should definitely record an album someday. I know that she's technically featured on the "Mamma Mia" and "Les Miserables" soundtracks, but I'd love to hear her sing original material! 🎶💖
Her rendition of little red riding hood is really good to ❤❤❤ XxXxX
Facts
I said the same thing after watching MAMA Mia the first time. Gorgeous voice
I have to mention johnny depp and helena bonham carter, both blow me away in sweeney todd... and being a sondheim musical it wasn't an easy task
Hell, yes. I love that music, and it all really rewards excellent voices. They both surprised me. Actually, Sacha Baron Cohen as Pirelli proved himself a hell of a performer too. (Not so much for beautiful singing, but for really delivering a great comedic scene, and singing it quite well.)
Why is nobody talking about Alan Rickman as the judge?? His really is the voice that blew my mind so much I'm still recovering from it 15 years later. I expected to see his talent shown in this top 20, and near the top, too!!
Yes totally forgot about him, I know Bonham Carter could sing, but Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp really amazed me
*THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE LONDON, BUT JOHNNY DEPP AS SWEENEY TODD HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART.*
It may be because Johnny does actually have a band. So he’s a “known” singer.
Lucy Lawless. She sang on several episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess, she played Rizzo in Grease on Broadway and she even performed live concerts in the early 2000's. Where's the love for her???
Right here! She's awesome!
I believe she also had some operatic training, icr- it was an age ago that I heard that, but "The Bitter Suite" was so much better than it had any right to be - I thought a musical episode would be naff as hell, but it was actually really poignant & incredibly touching...
Yes
It's a crime that Ewan Mcgregor hasn't been in an all out musical since moulin rouge.
He was in beauty and the beast, he played Lumiere
@@dennisfrimpong1783 Oh right, oops.
@@circa81 you forgot, right?
He was in beauty and the beast
he was in a singing movie with cameron diaz
Zachary Levi should be remembered, I love his voice, "I see the light" is one of my favorite disney's songs.
Also Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born!
@@ShannyG35 THIS IS WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!
The whole cast of Chicago is amazing. Who knew John C Reilly could sing like that? Richard Gere? Renee Zellweger? Queen Latifah? I know Latifah is a rapper/singer, but she really belted it out in Chicago! One of my favorite movies of all time.
Renee Zelwegger sang in one of her early films. Probably why she’s not included.
@@xXLeyton4everXx So did Meryl Streep.
True story Queen Latifah once secretly released an album of Soul and Jazz standards under her real name...it sold decent enough it was rebranded "the Dana Owens album" and sold with both names to help encourage sales...it is a GREAT show of singing prowess.
However that belongs on a different list...like "singers who shined in other music genres" among Dave Dramain's singing of sound of silence Debbie Gibson's Broadway career and David Bowles duet with the late Bing Crosby
Right. John C. Reilly merits a whole discussion. His dramatic acting talent is also a surprise. He's a secret gem all around
@@glennstarkey7087The Dana Owens album is one of my favorite albums of all time ❤. Queen Latifah is so talented !!!
You missed Emilia Clarke in Last Christmas. Who would have thought the Queen of Dragons could sing? Her rendition of Last Christmas at the end of the movie is just terrific.
Emmy Rossum was still the biggest shock to me. Seen her in other movies and I saw the Phantom the opera.
Was she famous before Phantom?
@nr4008 She was in 8 movies before Phantom of the Opera. One was The Day After Tomorrow
I want to say she sang in a movie before this. Something bout a college professor( Something Opus..?). She played a student who fell in love with her college music(?) Professor. She sang in that.
@@lyndajaeger4477Mr. Holland's Opus?
Okay, it seems everyone forgot that, alongside Emily Rossum in Phantom Of The Opera, the Phantom was played by Gerard Butler! And he sung all his own songs as well! May not have been a perfect performance, but very capable, and I had no idea ol' Leonidas could sing!
GOOD POST
Great actor… but definitely not a vocalist. There are so many truly talented people out there that could’ve done the role Justice, but sadly weren’t given the chance because producers were too afraid to cast anyone “unknown”
And a very important honourable mention: Sissy Spacek in "Coal Miner's Daughter" (1980).
I’ve always enjoyed Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn more than the actual Loretta Lynn.
Yes! She did a great job of singing Loretts Lynn's songs!
That was an awesome film
also Tom Cruise in rock of ages, Renee Zellwegger, Chris Pine, Timothee Chalamet on rainy day in new york, Richard Gere in chicago, Austin Butler, Taron Egerton, Sissy Spacek, Joaquin Phoenix, Patrick Wilson, Daniel Day Lewis in Nine, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter...
Omg yes tom is good
Patrick Wilson was a Broadway star of musicals. Two Tony noms. His singing ability is not a surprise.
I’m surprised Gerard Butler wasn’t mentioned for Phantom of the Opera. His voice was very surprising, a lot richer and smoother than you would expect.
Yeah, he’s normally a rocker so he worked hard to sing the Phantom’s music 👍
What about the original Phantom, Michael Crawford? All we had seen of him before that was Frank Spencer.
Watchmojo does not like Gerard Butler.
@@sergeant_ruh_rh8537then they're broken
Actually, the sad part of all of this is that 80 years ago, over 90% of movie actors came from a vaudeville background and they could sing, dance and tell jokes with impeccable timing. My favorite actress was Barbara Stanwyck, who actually was a "Ziegfeld Girl" (The Ziegfeld Follies were a series of elaborate theatrical revue productions on Broadway in New York City from 1907 to 1931, with renewals in 1934 and 1936. ) before going to Hollywood.
Good point in general and great reminder on Stanwyck; that lady could dance
@@sgtlamancha805 Yes, but she wasn't a good singer.
I would like to add Sissy Spacek in "Coal Miner\s Daughter." She was incredible and did her own singing.
I remember when the movie came out and people were floored and then Beverly Dangelo also sang but they didn't promote that as much
Neil Patrick Harris singing DREAM ON in Glee. Freaking awesome!!!
Yeah, but anybody who's anybody knows NPH was big into Broadway before Hollywood
Missed a few… Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles, Taron Egerton as Elton John, Rami Malek as the great Freddy Mercury.
Rami Malek was lip syncing in Bohemian Rhapsody
@@buskerjon8132 he was, but what he was lip syncing to was his own voice. Granted, it was mixed with Freddie's and Marc Martel's so it wasn't actually him on his own, but he was technically there.
Jamie Foxx didn't sing in Ray, neither did Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Okay, my bad. But still, Taron Egerton.
@@davidkglevi But Jamie Foxx does sing. Jeremy Renner appears in the list but didn't sing in his big movie either. I think the difference is that Jamie was known first for comedy, then for his music, then for his acting chops. Rather than being known for his acting and being surprised about the music thing.
What about Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody? He nailed it.
And they forgot The greatest showman for Hugh Jackman
In Bohemian Rhapsody sing Mark Martel.
I'm really shocked that Taye Diggs, Rosario Dawson and Jackie Chan were nowhere on this list because their vocals are absolutely amazing! I also would like to give Catherine her flowers because this woman was pregnant while filming Chicago... PREGNANT Y'ALL! She slid on her stomach at the end of "I can not do it alone" & did all the intense chorography in the movie. She is a superhero in my eyes because I couldn't imagine what shooting the movie was like for her at that time in her life. 👑🤯💜❤️💙#Wow #PureTalent #EveryoneIsAmazing
Taye Diggs started on broadway
I did hear that Jackie Chan can sing.
@@elouise5593yes, he can. He has made several albums.
I think Scarlet Johansen should be added to this list.
Yes her performance as Ash was awesome.
I loved Taron Egerton as Johnny and was totally surprised he'd never sung before.
Agreed. I didn't see that coming at all. That's also the movie I fell completely for Taron
nothing shocked me more than Ewan McGregor's voice in Moulin Rouge, I fell in love in the cinema ❤❤❤
I didn’t know Cyclopes (James Marsden) could sing until Enchanted. He’s was so goofy, charming, handsome AND could sing!
A few big surprises for me were Diane Keaton (First Wives Club) , John C Reilly (Chicago) and Scarlett Johanson (Sing 1 and 2).
Oh I love that scene when the trio sings in the first wives club
I love First Wives Club. One of my daughters became a social worker because we watched it so many times.
I first heard Michelle Pfeiffer sing in Prince of Egypt, and it was gorgeous! Wish you'd added a snippet of that to her part of the video...which reminds me--Val Kilmer should have appeared on this list, and Danny Glover (both from Prince of Egypt). Ralph Fiennes didn't do half badly, either.
I hate that Val had such a great singing voice but he didn't do his singing in PoE
My husband and I were just listening to the Prince of Egypt soundtrack this weekend and said how we’d LOVE a Ralph Fiennes album!
If you like Michelle Pfeiffer's voice check out The Fabulous Baker Boys where she plays a lounge singer.
@@wendeboyd503I’ve tried to find out why he didn’t sing in PoE but have t figured it out yet
No Honorable Mentions? How about Jonathan Rhys Meyers? Loved him singing in August Rush! Bradley Cooper singing in A Star is Born?
And velvet goldmine
I loved him in August Rush!
I think you have enough suggestions in the comments for a part two for this list. I would add Rick Moranis in Little Shop of Horrors, specifically the song Feed Me, for the next of these.
Rick is a GREAT singer! He is still the best Seymour I have ever seen, and anyone after is just trying to match him (I have seen better Dentists, no offense to Steve Martin, he was very good!)
Antonio Banderes did an AMAZING job in Evita. Mandy was wonderful too but Antonio had *verisimilitude*
I would also add the guy who plays Dean Winchester in Supernatural. That man can sing!
Yes! Jensen is a great singer!
On Meryl I’d argue her singing “You Don’t Know Me” from that same film truly shows what she can do as a vocalist.
Her sweet song on only murders in the building is lovely too.
Completely agree!
I haven't seen anyone mention Gwyneth Paltrow. Admittedly, Duets wasn't hugely popular, but it shocked me how good she was. But if you hadn't seen her then, her performances on Glee should have got you.
Meryl Streep trained to be an opera singer, but fell in love with acting. I fervently hope that someday _Into The Woods_ will show up on Netflix! I saw it in a movie theater and have been waiting to see it again since
It's on Disney+
@@irina2632
Sigh… Do they have a trial period or a pay-to-play situation?
@@maryrosekent8223 I have no idea I'm sorry
@@irina2632
Thanks for the info, I’ll go see for myself.
The answer seems to be no…I’d have to pay for a whole month, put up with ads, and there’s no way ahead of time to know if it’s currently streaming or if it’s temporarily rotated out. SIGH!
Hey what about Johnny dep in Sweeney Todd? I think he even said he was shocked about his voice! The 7 years after that he too was in into the woods. So good
That Hugh Jackman Tony Awards show (which I saw live for some reason) was the number one shocker for me! Followed closely by Ewan MacGregor belting out the Sound of Music (I had not been paying attention to the hype around Moulin Rouge so I had no idea it was a musical when I first watched it). Both delightful surprises!
Tom Ellis is a real signer. It was a surprise.
Hugh Laurie is also a great pianist and signer. He is a blues musician.
Oh yes Tom Ellis is so great
Ewan McGregor sang his heart out with "Somewhere" in the bar scene in _A Life Less Ordinary_ before he ever sang in _Moulin Rouge._
Also Velvet Goldmine
@@desiyoung9611 Correct (and another fantastic film!). I just didn't mention it because _A Life Less Ordinary_ came out first.
In the same musical vein you see him play the drums in _Shallow Grave_ which is one of my favorites of his movies. He's played for most of his life and Danny Boyle just made use of it. 😄
Scott Bakula - Seeing him sing "Imagine" in Quantum Leap was the first time I ever realized that actors could sing too (I was a kid at the time).
Lucy Lawless - Xena (I don't remember which episode specifically, but there were several where she sang)
Anthony Stewart Head - Buffy. Obviously in "Once More With Feeling", but there were a couple episodes before that where he sang.
I love Once More With Feeling! Amber Benson and ASH doing the duet “Wish I Could Stay!” It was just perfection.
Amanda Seyfried sang beautifully in Mamma Mia and Les Miserable
Chicago is where I also learned that Rene Zellweger could sing. She deserves an honorable mention.
I really like Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix's performances in "Walk the Line" Both had STELLER portrayals of two very iconic people!
can we also talk about how Catherine Zeta-Jones did the entirety of All That Jazz while pregnant?! So freaking impressive
She wasn’t even showing there was no bodily stress on her for doing all that jazz.
Right there's no stress if you're not showing 😂
Well I can’t do fosse choreography normally, she’s in her first trimester (not showing no bodily harm I’ll give you) but she might’ve had morning sickness so that’s still a crazy thing to accomplish. So yea there’s no bodily harm and even if she wasn’t pregnant her performance is impressive and should still be appreciated. ❤️
@magpiesglitter I'm guessing you've never been pregnant because first trimester is fucking BRUTAL. The sickness, the intense fatigue, the pains as joints loosen...the fact that she could do any of that with so much energy was incredible.
Patrick Swayze - dirty dancing- he actually co wrote and sung “she’s like the wind” - he was also a ballet dancer before he started acting
Patrick Swayze was the reason my son started dancing at 9. And he had amazing talent
Jeremy Renner's American Pie from Love comes to the executioner (2006) was my first time hearing him singing. Unforgettable moment.
Taron Egerton should be on the list for Rocketman.
And Sing
How about Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born? Amazing vocals!
Honorable mention Sam Claflin in Daisy Jones and the Six
You guys totally forgot James Marsden
*WATCH ANOTHER VIDEO THEN!*
What about Matt Bomer, Zachary Levi, Taron Egerton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Seth MacFarlane and Michael C Hall?
Oh Taron! He should always sing
I was going to say Matt Bomer too!
Seth MacFarlane when he was featured on a Logic song I knew he could sing from Family Guy but I guess a lot of people didn't know until that Logic song came out.
Bailee Madison. She's in ALOT of movies as a kid but she's in a musical called a week away and she's so good
Totally blown out of the water the moment Ewan McGregor opened his mouth to sing the Hills are Alive in Moulin Rouge. Took my breath away. First one I think of (among so very many other deserving others) when this subject comes up.
I loved Ewan Mcgregor's voice, it was perfect for Roxanne and Come What May
How could Ethan Peck be overlooked? So unbelievably shocked to hear his wonderful voice in Star Trek Strange New Worlds 0209 Subspace Rhapsody. I could keep watching the episode over and over again, as far as TV musical episodes go this has shot to the top of my list largely in part for his voice.
My husband has been listening to that episode on repeat 😆 I think Ethan peck had singing training prior though, he sounds pretty clean. I do NOT think Pike did though. He was a little rougher
Cant believe you guys missed Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages, he was ace!
Yes! I was so attracted to him after that performance ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah, Cruise did great in that movie!
Did you forget that Ewan McGreggor also played Lumiere in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast?
Not only do I love that #AmyAdams is on the list, but I also love that she was near the top 5! Not a powerhouse vocalist, but conveying of emotions is more her specialty. Loved her ever since I firs laid eyes on her in #Enchanted!
She was also great in Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day! She sings a sad little song towards the end of the movie. ❤
@@haileyhall5599 "If I Didn't Care".
She did musical theater at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater in Minnesota prior to her big break in the movies.
Riley Keough definitely. She’s been acting her whole life but in Daisy Jones and the Six is the first time she showed off her singing (she is Elvis Presley’s granddaughter after all).
Wait didn't Brittany Murphy also show she had a great voice by singing along with the Mentos commercial in "Clueless"? And, she had a small acapella scene in "Uptown Girls". I think she was giving us lots of clues all along. Plus, she did an amazing vocal performance in the 2006 EDM song "Faster Kill Pussycat" for Paul Oakenfold. How'd you guys miss all that?
What about the bathroom scene in Little Black Book?
Gone too soon, such a big talent. I miss her. The tone of her voice alone soothes my ears.
@@sherilynjackson7946 ahhhh! I paused the video, came here to find a comment mentioning little black book! I'd replay that scene so much just to hear it... it's too short, and she was gone too soon 💔
Loved Hugh Jackman in the greatest showman.
I love Hugh Jackman's singing voice, he sounds so wonderful.
And those high kicks!! 😅
Can't believe you left off NPH. When Doogie started singing in Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog.... Stunning
Saw Emmy Rossum in the movie Songcatcher in 2000, she was amazing.
Feel like this comes up every time Eddie Redmayne is on a list like this but I just have to say it: his rendition of "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" is haunting and he is arguably the best thing about the Les Mis movie. Just brilliant.
And look: I love The Rock. He's great and entertaining but he's not a great singer so the fact that he's placing higher on this list then Eddie Redmayne is a travesty.
Unpopular opinion: I like Grease 2 better. It might have something to do with Michelle though. Between her role there and her performance as cat woman, that was my first girl crush 🥰
So do I 😬
So do I
*Im like a couple seconds in and I just wanna say that Amanda sayfried is an amazing singer. Perfect role in Mamma Mia.*
Is this just restricted to movies? Because I'd nominate Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), as well as James Marsters (Spike) and Amber Benson (Tara) from Buffy, as well as Scott Bacula from Quantum Leap! All are great singers!
Emmy Rossum is an incredible singer!
Emmy Rossum's performance in "Phantom" just blew me away as an astounding surprise. Andrew Lloyd Weber's songs aren't the easiest in the world. Kristen Bell was a pleasant surprise. Emma Stone was another pleasant surprise, but the Oscar just proved her skills. On the other hand, Antonio Banderas was less of a surprise because he had been a member of a Spanish "garage band" before coming to the USA. Hugh Jackman's skills are so far-ranging that it is hard to be surprised by ANYTHING he does.
I know its not a showstopper but Tim Omundson singing Good Night My Friend on Galavant was sooooo sweet.
Ewan McGregor has one of the best singing voices i have ever heard and ever since Moulin Rouge i have waited for another musical with him or for him to do a Broadway show. I love his voice
Same. I always get goosebumps when I hear him sing.
It's the way his voice soares above the simple melody. His pitch is perfect. Nicole Kidman did a radio interview with Steve Wright and said when he first started singing with her he made a few mistakes and it wasn't until she had built up her confidence that she realised he had been making mistakes on purpose to make her feel better. There's also a clip of him singing Angels with Robbie Williams. Guess who sings it best.
You forgot about Shannen Doherty She plays guitar and does sing some too She sang some in “ Friends till the End”and admits that is her real voice I know am very impressed and still find myself singing “Don’t Be” half the time and will brush my teeth to “ Stop” Her range is incredible and you should check it out Her talent runs in her family Sean Doherty is her brother and is just as talented too
This was a nice topic. It was very entertaining.
Amanda Seyfried in Mamma Mia was amazing, one of her best performances i've ever seen.
Eddie Redmayne is great! He has a gorgeous, resonant tenor voice!
That one surprised me! Such a gorgeous voice!
So true for me with Ewan McGregor! 😅 I kinda wished he won an award for Moulin Rouge too 🥺
Tick Tick Boom caught everyone so off guard. I was beyond floored. He not only sang fantastically but performed the songs fantastically as well
How can you forget Matt Damon on Euro Trip😂 Scotty doesn't know!!! Scotty doesn't knooooww!! 😂 Classic
Don’t underestimate the talented voicing of these actors/actresses. They can sing so good, they all belong in Phantom of the Opera or even Hamilton.
Dwayne Johnson is my fave, and so is Kristen Bell. Also Marvel stars like Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Renner, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield… now I want a Spider-Man musical.
They tried that, and it was so plagued by accidents and played so poorly when it opened that it only lasted for two or three showings.
Paul Sorvino in Romeo + Juliet. HOLY SHIT. He was the only thing that could have possibly competed with the fabulosity of Mercutio in that music number!
Paul Sorvino was a trained opera singer.
so many good ones here! "empty chairs at empty tables" makes me sob just THINKING about it. eddie redmayne's rendition is heart-wrenching.
and ALL of "walk the line" got me. it was the whole story, not any one song.
'Once More, with Feeling' (2001) an musical episode of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. Sarah Michelle Gellar and the whole cast sing through the episode. Great stuff.
Mamma Mia came out when I was a kid and I’ve been obsessed since then! It became one of my favorite musicals and pretty much shaped who I am today. 💙
This list needs Jack Black in High Fidelity. It may not have come as a surprise to the few people who had already discovered Tenacious D in the late 90s, but his singing talent wasn't well-known at the time. In fact, until he kills it with his performance of Let's Get It On, there's a running joke in the movie about everyone NOT wanting him to sing because they assume he's going to be terrible.
That's right! Jack Black can definitely sing!
You could do an entire list of actors in the MCU who can sing: pretty much every one of the original six Avengers has pipes! My favorite is Robert Downey Jr. You need to search CZcams for the time he sang "Driven to Tears" with Sting, his voice is amazing! (His debut studio album _The Futurist_ was mentioned as an Easter egg by Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye during _Captain America: Civil War_ when he said "the futurist is here! he sees all".)
A recent favorite of mine is Emilia Jones in CODA!
Kevin Bacon and Gary Sinise each have bands that tour when they're not busy with films. (The Bacon Brothers and The Lt Dan Band, respectively)
I would say Oscar Isaac. I heard him sing in Sucker Punch singing Love is the Drug and then in Inside Llewyn Davis, who knew he could sing that like that. Just amazing!
Anyone surprised by Hugh Jackman's singing obviously hadn't been paying attention to him at all outside of the X-Men movies. He'd been known as something of a stage star for YEARS by that point.
Garret Hedlund who played Jack in Four Brothers and Sam Flynn in Tron Legacy, can sing insanely well and he shows off his chops in Tulsa King.
He was also insanely moving in 'Country Strong', & another one whose title I can't remember, but 'Sibyl' from 'Downton Abbey' was his sister...
I'd have Amanda higher - I love her voice. In Mumma Mia Here we go again - and Ted 2. So pure and sweet.
The one that shocked me the most was Tom Cruise. Obviously there's the singing in Top Gun, but when Rock of Ages came around I didn't know what to expect.
Greg Kinnear singing Summertime, with Meryl dancing, in Stuck on You was a delight and my favorite guilty pleasure.
YEEEEEES! So happy I found this comment. I was determined to mention it positive no other comments would bring it up. I adore that movie and for YEARS I assumed he was dubbed 😅 when I found out he actually sang I was gobsmacked!
The one that really took me by surprise was Kim Basinger in "The Marrying Man." What a voice!
So true - she was great!
How about another Hugh, like Hugh Laurie? He can sing and play piano.
Kevin Spacey on numerous talk shows, specials etc.
eventually leading up to singing AND dancing as Bobby Darin in ‘Beyond the Sea’
Nominated for a Golden Globe, too
Amanda Seyfried also was in the film Les Misérables along with Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, she was playing Anne Hathaway's Fatine's daughter adopted by Hugh Jackman's character in the film and the love interest of Eddie Redmayne's character
What about Taron Egerton and Richard Madden? They both sang in "Rocketman" and I for one had no idea either of them could sing at all.
Wasn't Sing before Rocketman?
Emmy Rossum and Amy Adams are underestimated performers
Jeff Bridges from Crazy Heart is a worthy mention. Had no idea he could sing like that. And won an Oscar.
