Many days I would have loved to have had just about any of those boats! Glad that I now have a tin boat. My first and only glass boat was a 1978 TomBoy. 14 feet of crap with a 35 Johnson! I think I paid like 2800 bucks, boat, motor, trailer. And I was happy cause I could go fishing! Love your videos Andy. You keep it real.
Haha, love your videos. I actually have a 1989 Tidecraft with an old Merc 175 Blackmax lol. For as old as it is, it’s still going strong. You can tell it’s a 1989 but it does what I need it to.
Love the list. Owned a 1988 bass trophy with the force 125 new. Loved that boat even though it was junk. Sold it in 2002. That boat is still running the lower Colorado river today. Still smoking and overheating, but never left me stranded. My optimax has let me down more than I can count. Crazy.
Not a fan of the optimax? I’m about to buy one. Should I be worried?
Bahaha. Love it. My very first boat I owned was a Bayliner Capri cobra with a force 125. Learned to work on out boards from that motor, also learned about rot. I have some good pics of it if you want them. Had it torn all the way down the the stringer seats about to glass in New ones when I found the transom rotted out and hauled it off to the dump. Good learning experience is all I can say about it.
Love this video had to watch it again, keep them coming.
I must of gotten lucky with my 94 Procraft V-180B had it about 12 years and been a great boat and one of the best riding boats I been in and I've rode in alot of brands lol i have a 2015 skeeter zx250 now also but still love my Procraft and take it out too
Love the videos man. I run a 1987 Champion 184 dc super v fish and ski model with a blackmax 200hp. All the goodies, trim, hot foot jack plate. She rips and rides so nice.
I have a friend who owned an old used quantum. He spent a lot of time fixing it, and the rest bailing it. Great vid!
I've got a 1977 Cajun I restored, its been in my family since day 1. I like it of course. Sentimental mainly but now just fine!
I had a 1987 14' Glasstream in 1988 & 1989 while in the air force and it was one of my favorite boats! I would sometimes fish that thing 3 times a week preparing for tournaments and it was beautiful and trouble free :) I sold it for what I paid for it 2 years later.
If it was so great, why did you sell it?!?
@@DogGuy19 I got assigned to RAF Bentwaters in England.
lol i loved the video. Laughed my ass off however, i have a 1988 bayliner bass trophy with a Force 125 that i have had for years and i freaking love it. We have a place on a small lake that is perfect for a boat that size. Thanks for the heads up on what to get if i ever decide to upgrade.
To be fair Bayliners had Forces because they owned Force.... My family had one since new. My dad was meticulous with maintenance and never had much of an issue with it it was 30% less than most other comparable rigs. Of course it was a 1980s glass boat so fit and finish wasnt much even taken care of, and you are right about the ride...
Love this, LMMFAO ! Great Video
Awesome video as usual. I wasn't aware that Chrysler even manufactured a bass boat? Lol. Keep the videos coming. Your videos are very informative and educational.
Oh they sure tried too! Thanks again for your support Roy!
Would love to see a top 10 list of dicountiued boat brands. Great video as always from you and the crew!
PLEAZZZZE!!!! Yes, best deal for the money! 115, 150, 200 and 250 boats! Give top 3 boats for each motor level.
Me too! Had a Sprint for years loved that boat ! Zero issues!!!
Well the top two would be champion and then gambler.
Would love to see this. Still running my Cobra 216 every week.
@@alphacapo gambler is still made
LOL, awesome video and needed the laugh today!
Correct on the Skeeter Wrangler. Mine had the deck coming off and looked like it was made by a drunk on Saturday morning. Badly finished gel coat. Also dealer sold it without dual steering and was a bear to drive.
Used to have a Bayliner Bass Striker 1710 with 75 Force (dads) when i was younger. Did have to waste leave time replacing decking one year. Carbs took some getting used to but otherwise no issues. That one did get sold off. We never had another bass boat.
Love the vids and stay safe also keep it up
Thanks Ryan! You stay safe too buddy
Hey I have a Suzuki 350 outboard on my boat. I am using the my wedge but don’t want to ruin my seals. Do you recommend a transom saver for the big Suzuki?
You're hilarious bro! Thanks for the info, I'm looking for my first boat.
I have a 87’ glasstream with a 87’ merc 115 I like the boat. Rides a lot better than i thought it would. Also moves pretty good for a 115.
Great videos I love your honesty
Worked on every one you named.....100% agreed. I even had to re gelcoat and carpet a chrysler boat with a chrysler 100hp for a customer......im permanently scared for it
What do you think of the Sprint 207 pro tournament bass boat? I know they no longer make them but how are the hulls.
You have not ridden in a procraft lmao, they ride so dang smooth, even had guys who have owned stratos, Phoenix, ranger, etc compliment how nice it rides. Not a single issue here. 👎🏼 bad take
That implies that Stratos, Phoenix and Ranger's ride good then right? Lol
1985 ProCraft 1510V with a 50hp Johnson. I must have got lucky. It rides nice, stay dry and very happy with the stability. Planes out nice and handles bends of the lake very well. The Johnson may only do 30mph on a good day, although this ProCraft I am very happy with. Great Shape Too!
Bought a Cajun boat a year ago and absolutely love it!
I’ve got a 1990 cajun with a 120hp Johnson and love it!
i have a 96 ragin cajun 180sc love it rides great
1979 mach vI it’s a sick boat
Love my 1998 Cajun fish and ski with Johnson 150
I wouldn’t argue with any of your picks. Very funny!
My first "big boat" was a winner tournament 2 in 2007. I was 18 and it had been garage kept its whole life and didnt have a scratch on it. I ran it for probably 5 years and loved it. I think that was the first year they didnt out wood in them but i could be wrong
Got 31 years out of my 1988 17 foot Bayliner Bass Boat with 85 HP Force. Just repowered it last summer when the Force gave out. It went to the shop only 2 times in all those years. Put a fair amount of bass into the boat as well. All the original accessories are present including seats with no rips and motorguide. Did the radio, the cb, the bilge pump once and that was it. Fresh new Mercury on it with a couple of extra horses and it was good as new. Keeping the water out of them in the off-season, was all anyone needed to do to keep them from falling apart.
😂😂😂 I would never spend hard earned money for a expensive Mercury outboard and put it on a 35 year old Bayliner bass boat! 😭🤣
What you think about sprint bass boats i own one and I think its amazing rides smooth and is quick
Just got my grandpas 87 Bayliner bass boat. It’s never had any problems for the past 20 years he has had it. Yes the front deck is a little soft but it’s 30 plus’s years old and I’m 6’3” and 255 pounds.
Brown and green bass boats are awesome! I love those 80's colors.
My first boat was a 73 Chrysler bass runner with stick steering. Terrible in rough water, had a 65hp evenrude. My uncle had a skeeter wrangler years ago too
Friggin love it!
I’ve never owned a boat but even I got a good laugh about Chrysler making a bass boat 🤣
My dad had a 1994 Cajun Travis edition 21 1/2 ft with a 200 hp Johnson Venom. it was about 14 years old when he bought it and it was in great shape. The only issue was the typical power pack on the Johnson.
Hey this has nothing to do with this video but I just watched an older video where you talked about evinrude ending production, you mention you were excited for electric outboards and I though that was a very good opinion. There’s not much out there but they would be a huge upgrade in every way and be cleaner for the water. Evinrude could come out with an electric motor and just rock the market and it would be very cool. They could easily make one but how much distance could we get and how much do the batteries weigh. By the time I get a boat in about 7 years because I’m 23 I hope to have an electric option.
Anyways great video!
Tide goes out you leave it on the bank. Lol. Tidecraft, put er in the garbage. Awesome video Andy
Any experience with HydraSports? Looking at a 1995 185E this weekend
What are your thoughts on the other Storie brands like Hawk bass boats or Cobra/Viper?
Hey man you didn’t have to come for my glass treat I love it
love your 10 picks and i do agree on all your picks
Owned a Winner for a number of years absolutely loved the boat👍👍
I bought a Tidecraft Spitfire V15 and had to put a floor and stringers in it. Did not have complete coverage of glass and resin on the stringers from the factory.
Glad my skeeter was not on it. Hope to visit with you guys again sometime this summer.
Any information on hurst boats? I recently purchased a hurst 17ft bass boat. I can’t find any info other than they where built in Florida
I bought a brand new procraft in 07 pro 176 with a four stroke never got wet an still running strong
No, haven't ridden one of those gems. Yet. My question for you Mark is can you get one of Lowrance HDS scope with Active Target Sonar for evaluation? Have any of your sponsored anglers use Lowrance? If you have, how does it stack up to the Hummingbird and the Garmin? Stay safe guys.
Hey Andy what is your opionion on the 90s era javelin boats? Thanks for your time
We weren't big fans personally. They were Triton's before Triton.
I have a Cajun and love it top down except down weight, I fee it could be lighter. But rides nice!
Great job great call
I always look forward to your vids. I always lmao
My father bought a Bayliner in 1989 with a force 125. We ran that boat for 30 years with no problems. Yes it wasn’t the fastest in the world, but it never gave us problems. Just replaced it in 2019.
Wow that's great to hear Keith! Sounds like ya got a good one!
What do u think about a '86 astroglass f&s 20' with 200 yammy?
Man I have a 1992 tidecraft and it's been a very dependable boat. The transom is still in solid condition. Still glides across the lake. I will say the gel coat is getting bad. But as for the hull no soft spots. I will admit I can't afford a high dollar boat and I've kept up with maintenance and upgrades and I've been pleased with this old boat.
I was waiting for the bay liner bat boat lol 😂 almost bought one when I was younger 😱
Great video brother
I loved my Cajun. Had a 19' with a Johnson 200 on it. Ran mid 60's all day and rode great! Wasn't the prettiest thing to look at, but it fished well. Only thing I had to do was replace the floor. But, you take almost any 1980's bass boat and they all had wood floor. And they all rotted.
I own a 171 Cajun other than having to replace all of the wood decking with cooks board I love it
That was supposed to say coosa lol
Hey Team Marine, do you have a recommendation on where to go to marine mechanic school. And also wanna say thanks again for fixing my destroyed lower during the High school Nationals last year!
MMI in Florida
@@TeamMarineService can you do a top ten on Stratos boat I own a 21xl pro star
Great video, I'm still laughing!!
Thanks buddy!!!
I’ve got a 97 Cajun and it is light years ahead of it’s time. It’s 19 foot, has more storage and handles big water better than any that size I’ve ridden in. Also doesn’t have a stress crack anywhere
That's great! Glad it's holding up for ya!
I’ve got a 1990 that’s amazing!
@@briankron6558 Is yours aluminum? Looking at getting one locally. Would love your opinion.
ya iv got a 96 180sc and it rides great
Here in Georgia, Glasstream sold a bunch of boats back in the 80s/early 90s. I have fished out of ProCraft and a lot of the Glasstreams. Hey...we didn’t know any better.
I have a glasstream and it’s a solid boat. 1985 was evidently a good year lol
Great Video ! Couldn't agree more but please keep in mind yes the Bayliner Bass Trophy was JUNK but the Trophy line is very vast leading into the larger Pilothouse models and yachts . I have a 1982 Bayliner 2270 Explorer built for Alaska and I love it . Orwin Edson was a smart man . Dumped the company off to Bruinswick in 1986 , he saw the jet skis coming to destroy his cheap hydroplane market , along with Bass Pro with their boats . So he stuck with the yacht market and gave away millions to charity . Check out the 1980's Before Bruinswick Bayliner Explorerers & Trophies that were built for Alaska . They're a whole different class of boats . Bayliner was the worlds largest recreational boat manufacteur . Today it's Bass Pro . Didn't they just buy Hatteras ? Great Company .
Love my Quantum! Except I had to replace the decking, carpets, seats, and redo the gelcoat. Other than that...
I had a 1987 Starcraft Escort with a 140 Johnson. A 16' bass looking boat with a 140hp was nuts. Would get 60mph but man if you hit a ripple or wake you were airborne lol.
I was guessing that was going to be #1!!
My late dad and I had a cajun fish and ski 1987. It was pretty good, for us as fun fishermen, but the decals were pretty bad.
What about worst aluminum boats? That would be entertaining.
LMAO...I’m addicted to your videos.
Awesome! We appreciate your support!
Have a 1990 cajun 1850... Use it for inshore/nearshore fishing.. rides smooth, handles perfectly.
I’ve got a 1990 too. Love it!
@@briankron6558 absolutely a bastard to get parts for😂
My dad owned a boat shop in south Louisiana in the 80s and 90s and even though he had new boats he built and sold, his bread and butter was replacing floors decks stringers and transoms in those old skeeters.
I had a Cajun and it was junk. Saw a guy delaminate a Glass Stream the first day he had it on the Hudson. My buddy warrantied 6 Tide Crafts in one year, I think the best one lasted 5 weeks. Good list!
The Hudson broke a lot of boats back in the day, Ed. So did the St. Lawrence.
Lol...Love the videos thanks
Comment below if any of you've ever ridden or owned one of these classic gems!
I had a winner back in 87 a z880 with a Yamaha 175 . It would fly but chine walked to a point of ass clinching
I have been in a mid to late 90's 18.5' Cajun a few times. It rode very well and fished well. The owner had no complaints about it. He upgraded to a 20' Progator which is another obscure brand that also rides and fishes surprisingly well. I am a Champion homer and find the ride is quite impressive actually.
I have a 97 Cajun 185. It's when they changed the colors and styling and also one of the last boats they built before they went out of business. If you look at the hardware on the boat some of the best in the industry especially for that time, and they were known for being a good ride for a smaller boat. The transom and stringers are composite and I know a transom is pretty much indestructible
What's funny is I've owned 4 of these on your list still own a glasstream love it but it is one of the late 80s v models but you're right the lids are JUNK
@@jaysonsetzer2287 I have a 98 sitting here at my shop it's a 180 with a 150 and it's still in great shape and you're correct the latches and other hardware are really nice aluminum.
I have a Cajun mach vI and my buddy runs a Cajun brat both boats are from 1979 and still out getting it done. There bothe the sparkle blue also. Love these boats the Mach v1 should be talked about more
Completely agree about ProCraft. Fished 2 tournament seasons with a 2005 210 super pro. Very wet and unstable for me. If you came off plane too fast water would come up to the console!
Just bought a 1995 pro craft 180 B lol I hope its not this bad lol
I had a Bayliner trophy bass and yeah it was junk but I rebuilt the whole thing ripped it all out built new decks and wasn't unhappy with it but its heavy as hell. And yeah there's no taking off fast lol
I actually won my very first bass tournament from a Bayliner trophy w/ a 60ish HP force. Memories lol.
I watched this again. Too good
This brings back memories, I had a 1983 Tidecraft Wildfire with a Merc black max 150,had that boat for 9 years before I sunk it .Rough water cracked the hull and down it went,ha ha ,that was a bad day in flat rock! Also had a transom so bad that if you looked back at the motor while running the motor was flopping so bad it looked as though it was waving at you. At that time it was all state of the art , lots of good tournament catches for an investment of 11,000 total ,not the worst money ever spent. But in retrospect you are probably right in your assesment !!
What isyour opinion of a Randall Craft boat?
I have a 1990 Cajun Mastercraft Up here in Montana. 3-4 owner boat. Super heavy. The floor is terrible. But honestly, in MT it's hard to find a good fiberglass bass boat under 10 grand thats used. The best part about the Cajun is the Motor. So reliable. The worst part is the hatches are ALL WOOD. There heavy and built with cheap hardware. I also can never find any original or used parts for it. (because it wasn't very popular) Another odd thing I felt was the the seat cushions right in front of the dash and the walk way right up to the Bow of the boat. Someday Ill replace the floors or buy a new boat. But Last terrible thing was the electrical. I had redo ALL of it. and I mean ALLLLL of it. Great video. Thank you.
A friend of mine had a tidecraft that split down the middle. It was fast as hell with an old 235 on it
What’s your take on a fox craft bass boat?
Pretty solid list...I don't think I could add anything to these. Not a big fan of Nitro's overall construction but it's TONS better than all these.
I just picked up a 98 ray craft and from all the research I did they are good boats but was wondering if you had ever heard of them
Had a Bayliner Bass Striker 1810 at one point that had a 85hp Force. Hated the motor but the boat was ok for what it was at the time.
I got a 1996 Cajun 186s. Rock solid boat. Other than carpets, I put nothing into this boat.
Why are they gone?
Bought by Ranger and ranger closed them.
Ive seen that bayliner Hahahaha!! It looks awful. However, I had a 95 Astro S-17B with a 120 Force motor. Used that thing for 4 years ALOT! Never had an issue with it. Maybe I sold it just in time.
Almost bought a Quantum with a Force outboard for my first bass boat, luckily a buddy talked me out of it. Bought a Champion instead, never regretted buying a Champ!
Great list, literally laughed out loud during the list recap!!
Wow buy that buddy a beer for sure! Great decision! Haha
Yalls dad hated my dad when he bought our Roughneck in 1974 with 115hp Merc. We had the 2nd bassboat in Hempstead county Arkansas with a steering wheel tearing up Millwood.
I never knew what my first bass boat was named lmao!!! Glass sport bass scalper well now I know! But it worked. It sucked but it floated I caught fish even won a couple small derby’s
I had a Bass scalper it was my first bass boat. I ran that boat for 5years it was a tank super heavy.
I won my second tournament out of that boat.
I owned a procraft 1750v. It was an awesome boat
I had a 1997 200 Bass PRO CRAFT with a 200 MERCURY. Most stable boat I've ever been in. Little tough in rough water. Didn't get wet. 67 mph. Loved that boat. Still wished I had that boat.
Nice! Glad ya had a positive experience with it
@@TeamMarineService I LOVE WATCHING YOUR CREATIONS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ONE ON WHAT GAS YOU WOULD RECOMMEND ON OLDER MOTORS. LIKE MINE... 2003 250 XS RACING. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
I have the Exact same boat. A bit more stable than my dads Cobra. Rough water, its not near as good as the Cobra, but its not bad to me.
U never owned a ranger lol
@@reddawng43x91 I've owned 3 Rangers. Great boats as well.
Glad hydrosport didn't make the list what's you're input on hydrosprt bass boats
what do you think about Sprint bass boats
I had the Chrysler bass boat. Gave it away. The bow caved in on lake Berryessa about a month later 😂
My 200 super pro procraft is badass!! Kinda.
