    In today's video, I get my hands on the current generation of the most underrated Supermini on the market; the Suzuki Swift Sport! The Swift is honestly in a league of it's own being small, lightweight, affordable and the ultimate tool to put a smile on your face wherever your journey takes you.
    The Swift is a prime example to the original recipe of an Old School Pocket Rocket!
    .... The Swift Sport is due to be replaced, so whilst we wait it definitely deserves a warm and positive goodbye to remind us why this is a mega machine and why we should be excited the future!

    I love the swift. Unfortunately mine isn't the sports version. Suzuki doesn't sell that in my country (sucks). Still, the regular swift is a fun car to drive. The handling and the way it carves around corners at speed is awesome. Gets great mileage too.

    Great review. I've owned one of these for 14 months now. It's fantastic to drive. The handling is epic, it's faster than Suzuki say. Reviewers that have actually tested the car, rather than quoting the book figures - have got 0-60 MPH times as low as circa 7.5 seconds. From my experience, an Audi or BMW would bore me to death after driving this little pocket rocket!

    • @PocketRockets
      @PocketRockets  Před 7 lety +1

      MrZekToR Thank you for your kind words Sir! I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍 I'd say Suzuki have nailed it on making a great 'out of the box' Hot Hatch! From price to smile factor, it wins 🙌
      As you may know, I own a Focus RS and in some ways the Swift is simply better; yes I may seem mad to say that but it's honest truth.
      Hoping the new one follows the same pedigree! Would be good to get a opportunity with Suzuki to drive one so stay tuned 👍

      7.5 to 60 ? No chance. 134 bhp and 123 ibft. 8.7 is about right for those power figures. Needs a turbo.

    • @MrZekToR
      @MrZekToR Před 3 lety

      @@kristianspencer1978 It doesn't need a turbo to go that fast to 60 MPH. Remember, it's all about power to weight. I now own the turbo variant of the Swift Sport. Whilst the turbo variant is much quicker in gear. For the 0 to 60 MPH dash - both cars are very similar. This video is my old 2016 Swift Sport - doing a 0 to 60. czcams.com/video/OczQ27uXScM/video.html

      @@MrZekToR it’s not just 0-60 is it? Mid range , top end and in gear performance. My 208 is only 1035 kgs but has 150 bhp and 210 ibft. Only a 1.2 3 cylinder turbo. The sport is more a warm hatch than a hot one. I’d rather have a mint 90s swift gti, now that was a classic hot hatch back in the day.

    • @MrZekToR
      @MrZekToR Před 3 lety +1

      @@kristianspencer1978 Yes, mid-range 'pull' is better in the turbo variant. Top speed is pointless unless you're going to use it on track. I don't think you can judge whether a hot hatch is 'warm' or 'hot' by how much power is under the bonnet. For me, it's the whole package. The Swift Sport is damn fast down any crappy 'B' road. The Swift Sport is very fast around any roundabout too. That's what makes it 'hot'. Its low weight, great handling, great brakes and the feel from behind the driver seat is what makes it hot. It's simply great fun, and plenty fast enough to annihilate any back road at speed. Those are good numbers for your 1.2 litre - 3 cylinder turbo BTW.

    Better than a Ford Fiesta? Bold claim my friend. Having said that, I'm a big fan of the Swift Sport. I would have bought one if I had the chance. What I love about the Swift Sport is that it's very old school in its approach, modest performance, but great handling and drivability.

    • @PocketRockets
      @PocketRockets  Před 7 lety +3

      In some areas, yes it is; such as the N/A engine, simplicity and it being the bargain of the century.

      It's not too bad to be honest, the ride is on the firmer side but nothing in comparison to a Fiesta ST180, I'd say a new Swift Sport over this generation, so much more refined, grown up and much faster 👌🏼 Thanks for watching Dan!

    0-62 in how fast you reckon?
    The official figure is 8.7 seconds (0-100), although people keep saying it can do it faster than that..
    There's no consensus lol

    • @PocketRockets
      @PocketRockets  Před 7 lety

      All depends on your clutch and throttle skills in this department.
      Most journalists reach the same conclusion at around 8.7 seconds.
      The lack of forced induction finds it hard to keep up with its rivals. That's why it's one of the reasons, I'm looking forward to the new Swift Sport (Y)

      Fortunately, the new Swift Sport has a far better infotainment system and thanks to its new turbo charged engine it has a better power delivery thanks to a shed load of torque!
      Plus it will be open to more tuning too so a win win 💪🏼 ... Although, I was disappointed when I heard the exhaust note should of been made more sporty; but hey there is already plenty of aftermarket solutions to pick from 👀

      winzfeld1 Bearing in mind, it’s the Sport variant, I’d personally say it’s pretty much the same as it’s rival in ride quality; when you’re hooning it though you hardly notice it 😈 When driving the current gen SZ5 Boosterjet the ride is a hell of a lot better 👍

  • @kristianspencer1978
    @kristianspencer1978 Před 3 lety +1

    Nice, but hardly a hot hatch, 8.7 to 60. And no torque. Buy a 208 gtline instead.1.2,3 cylinder ,turbo. Stage one map and ram air induction kit. 150 bhp and 210 ibft.

    • @PocketRockets
      @PocketRockets  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I understand where you're coming from Kristian, the Swift Sport is more a warm hatch when comparing it to the Fiesta ST, 208 GTI & Polo GTI
      But it is still an extremely fun car to drive and miles cheaper to buy/run than the above examples so that argument can be viewed as irrelevant in my opinion
      And it's unfair to compare a 208 GT Line with the Swift Sport as its naturally aspirated so no matter the competition it will be overlooked
