ESPN’s NBA coverage is awful. Amazon’s NFL coverage doesn’t inspire confidence that their NBA coverage will be any good. @@limitedbom2206We can agree to disagree. It’s not just the game selections. Thursday night games weren’t that great on Fox. It’s their coverage in total. This isn't complicated. AMZN could buy the entire Turner studio setup in ATL, Turner gives Ernie the out to work NBA for AMZN while still doing MLB stuff, and basically nothing changes for Ernie and the guys. Where it gets interesting is if AMZN is willing to embrace CZcams to the extent TNT/NBA has with clips of the show, which is what gets the small screen engagement.

Not saying that it's nice to be retired instead of retiring on your own, but it seems like a good point in time to call it quits. So it wouldn't surprise me. Charles with one year to mull it over, and retiring next summer - sad as it would be. Ernie is dying on the job (and thank god, he's a lock for the hall of fame if they allowed media guys in) and could get any job anywhere in sports, but Kenny and Shaq work on that team mainly because of Chuck.
But, there is a second option - Turner still owns NBA TV, so the team could stay on as licensed content in a modified role of some sort. Or even better, transition to make more content like Open Court which is some of my favorite stuff to watch of all time.

Networks that don’t have a history of broadcasting sports generally use the broadcasters from the outgoing network. FOX used James Brown and Terry Bradshaw in their pregame show as well as just about every in booth talent from CBS. Most recently Amazon began broadcasting boxing and they are using the same broadcast talent and formula as Showtime. NBC Sports has a long and proud history. They are already paying Mike Tirico and have other people like Dan Patrick, Ahmed Fareed, and Bob Fitzgerald on contract to do jobs. Charles Barkley won’t work for ESPN unless they make concessions. ESPN likes their personalities to do a lot (be on First Take, PTI, etc) their show is also in New York and he lives in Phoenix, they would need to move the show. If someone really wants these guys they have to cater to them. I only see Amazon with their deep pockets, big sponsors, and wish to grow Prime fighting for this show.

TNT/Turner should just run pre and post-game basketball shows. I would switch channels after the game just to watch them.

TNT needs to go because S the guy said, if you’re coming off them and not the product, that’s not good. They and SAS have made a mockery of covering the NBA as the emphasis on them instead of the game. Amazon and NBC will ensure that they will be. Good riddance.

They do ZERO ANALYSIS-WHICH IS THEIR JOB.
As much as you just talk about rumors and other ridiculous things on here, at least you provide some analysis. And I know you bring them on here, but there’s not a single competent person on the air at TNT.
They were great players. They are NOT competent analysts.
I wish you’d focus on the fact that they don’t do their job. Kenny even talked about how Shaq NEVER WATCHES ANY BASKETBALL and Chuck barely does. They have dozens of TV available and not one is on a game.

NFL has 10 times the viewership of the NBA. There’s no way in hell the NBA media rights should be $76 billion when the NFL’s media rights are $110 billion. Zaslav may have made the right decision.
