Sage, I think you do a great job of highlighting your strengths with a healthy dose of modesty, which is why it was humbling to listen to your reaction during Shamrock. I also ran the Shamrock (VA Beach) and PR'd by 15 minutes with a
How to overcome disappointment: 1: Acknowledge How You Feel. 2: Check Your Expectations. 3: Stroke the cat.
Don`t worry Sage, you are still faster than 99.999% of us.
That is so great that you are able to run with your dad. Thank you for sharing.
Good, honest video. At some point could you discuss body weight and race performance? Is that one of the metrics you track?
I really appreciate your honesty like this...
Jesse Thomas what a character! Triathlete and picky bar CEO! Don’t feel disappointed it’s normal to feel like crap near the end of a training block, you’ll crush your marathon!
Sage, we believe in you! Tapering will be on your side - You got this!An even pace will get you through it! ✨👍🏻✨👊🏼✨💪🏻✨
So humble, I would be losing my mind if I came in third. Nice work.
Great video. Loved to see u running with your pops. Crazy how fast you are!
Thanks for being open and honest Sage. Hope Rotterdam goes well and you found into form how you want to. Also, so nice to see you running with your Dad. My dad has passed on but I remember fondly while growing up on the farm where my dad would walk some mikes and check the crops and I would go for a run. A great influence of enjoying the outdoors and healthy living.
Humble, honest, appreciative. That’s why we like you Sage. Keep on keeping on. See you in Rotterdam
Thanks for the honesty, it helps more than the positivity/“kumbaya” approach.
Damn, so freaking fast. Well done!
Sage - Amazing post and appreciate your dedication to being humble and most importantly honest and open. Your self awareness and lack of ego in these posts is great cause so much good information comes across to us mere mortals as you being a student of the sport shows greatly and gets passed on.
Always appreciate your honesty and take on these. I have been a follower/fan of Jesse’s for a long time (they were one of the first gluten free bars out there in the beginning), so I was happy to hear he won but then realized you were also running. I think your plan is a good one! Looking forward to more from you!
Looking forward to your return to Comrades! I'll be lining up in Batch C and you'll be way down the road by the time I cross the start line. As a South African I'm obviously rooting for the local elite runners, but I'd love for you to have a exceptionally good day out. Thanks for selecting South Africa's all time favourite race. As you know it's quite something to us locals. Stay healthy, keep the mileage up and stay strong. It's an honour to have you over. Huge respect! Cheers from Cape Town.
Love your channel Sage! I'm from SA and will definitely be looking out for you on Comrades which is finishing in my hometown, Pietermaritzburg. Hopefully next year I will be in shape to join in the challenge... Keep up the good work and thanks for all the advice and inspiration!
thanks back to you Sage for sharing your experience. imo i think Comrades is a great fit for you, looking forward to see how you target 90k!
Well prepared race report and analysis there Sage. Still wishing you the best at Rotterdam. Won't be there but I will be running behind you at Comrades. Cheers!
