I admit, I kinda wish the child started singing much more slowly so that the accelerando later on would be more obvious, but her voice is definitely much clearer than the movie version.

Watched the whole show on Broadway HD. The woman playing Miriam is PHENOMENAL, and plays the role in such a beautiful way that I’d never imagined for Miriam. This song brought me to tears every bit as much here as it did in the movie.
That is the divine Alexia Khadime. The current Elphaba in the London production of Wicked (back for her 3rd run).
1:42 was not unnoticed. That 3 octive second vocal was spot on perfect! Supporting yourself AND THE LEAD switching registeres flawlessly live knowing its being recorded 👏👏👏

As a now atheist/nonbeliever/agnostic growing up in the nineties, I have always had a deep love of the animated movie and cannot deny the beauty of the music made. Western civilization is missing out on the creativity given to us back then. I'll take whatever variation I can get. This is pure art and I love every second of it.
It's a story that speaks to everyone, regardless of whether you believe in God or not. Because at it's core, it's a story of hope and the promise of a better tomorrow.
I've watched many versions of this song in many years but don't know why this version brings all the tears in me in just a few seconds watching it..

I shared the movie with a Jewish friend when we were in college. The child singing in Hebrew? Had her absolutely weeping. I was raised Catholic, so I didn’t know the words were Miriam’s song right out of Exodus. My friend did, and her reaction made me love the movie even more-clearly they did something very, very right there ❤️
@@KristenK78 I had no idea! I mean…as a Christian, I assumed something like the words having meaning. The only word I knew was Adonai but thank you for telling us. I actually logged in to YT just to comment here on another comment to thank the person who put the words on the screen in English, and for that matter, spelled so I can possibly pronounce the Hebrew better when I sing it! I have been wanting to know what the words mean since I was a child singing this song while watching the original VHS tape! Thank you. The message of God’s love is the best message there is. One of my favorite animated movies of all time.
This was the first show I watched in 2021 when lockdown restrictions started to ease. I just remember crying at the end under my mask.

This movie was one of my favorites growing up, along with the soundtrack. When I first saw the "practice" of this song for this production I was blown away. Now seeing it in action, in characters, I had GOOSEBUMPS the whole way through! The voices are absolutely stunning, and production seems amazing. When it comes to productions I look at it from the point of view of my past experience being stage manager and partial director. This is beautiful, through and through.
The Prince of Egypt is my grandmas favorite movie, and this song in particular brings back so many memories cuz it was always my favorite!

I watched the whole show as a live recording in the cinema. I got goosebumps at least five times and I got them only 30 seconds into watching. It’s probably my favourite musical. Everyone is a fantastic singer and actor and I cried at the end of this song and almost cried at the start of the musical. If you get the chance I would definitely recommend watching the stage production. It’s truly breathtaking, beautiful, and the staging is very smart

@@coppeliaguidry9790 all I know is that they were showing it in the picturehouse cinema and I think possibly the Odeon in the UK a few days ago. I’m not sure about anywhere else. But it’s like £17:20 for a student ticket and £22:00 for an adult ticket.

Saw this on my birthday just before COVID. I was crying when they started singing this. Very emotional, and magical at the same time. The hebrew part gave me goosebumps!!

I am so excited to see how your production accomplished Moses meeting Yahweh through the bush. It was one of the most powerful scenes in the film, to completely subvert the idea of flames being terrifying and instead give them a gentle water effect. I hope the stage can offer the same wonderful feeling.
It was done through all the dancers. They became the burning bush as a chorus with unified movement.
People play the bush. Take that for what you will. I saw the world premiere production and it was...something.

Somebody needs to tell Stephen Schwartz to stop letting creatively bankrupt people produce stage versions of his film musicals. Hercules was a disaster too.
@@mywalterego9248 He’s actually part of his own problem. He and his son work together a lot and they make half these decisions.
I’ve said for years that Prince of Egypt is Schwartzs’ magnum opus and it was incredibly disappointing to see him destroy his own masterpiece, especially when it’s one of the most stage ready films to ever exist.
Hercules isn’t his, but I’ve heard the same.

This is my favorite song of Prince of Egypt. It's good, but somehow I still like the one in the animation. And when the child sings and the people comes to follow, I got goosebumps. I love the scene the most!

One of the best songs I ever had the blessing of hearing, it always brings me to happy tears. It makes me want to believe that some pieces of music are just inspired on us humans from somewhere beyond us.

As a Jewish Israeli, this performance make me very emotional. I'm glad this show (and the brilliant animated movie) exist to show our history and heritage, in a world which nowadays, many try to erase it.

As a Christian Brit with many Muslim friends in the Arab world, we also share your emotion at this show and movie showing the heritage we all share, it’s a fabulous portrayal of God seeing, encouraging and rewarding those seeking freedom from tyranny and the beauty and pain of persistence.
I just wish it represented Jews properly, and our history. I doubt many Jews were a part of making this on or off stage.
