    Out of all the ancient Sith Lords, I think Darth Sion is the one Vader would most align with since he often used his own suffering to fuel his connection to the Dark Side.

    Something I found about Malgus, from what I've learned about his story from his appearances in SWTOR, is that he very much embodied the last line in the Sith code, "The force shall set me free." So much of what he did was to secure and preserve his freedom, especially when he was under the control of Darth (or empress) Acina, but also with the Dark council as well as Tenebrous/Vitiate/Valkorion.
    I also think that if Malgus and Sidious were in the same time period, and were to meet, Malgus would hate Sidious for his lust for power. He would sooner kill Sidious than agree to learn from him

  • @inquisitorgarza312
    @inquisitorgarza312 Před 6 měsíci +16

    I’m pretty sure that Malgus would have hated Sidious more than even the Sith Emperor considering that Sidious could be even more petty and unbelievably cruel compared to the Sith Emperor. Malgus in a weird way was a ultranationalist in the sense that he believe those who are strong in the Force should be in the Sith Order, while Sidious was a hoarder of power who didn’t believe anyone should have this great power except only him.

    • @mambaASI
      @mambaASI Před 17 dny

      Sidious wasn't against having a sith order tho. He was only against those in the sith (or dark siders in general) who he considered weaker than himself, but who wanted take his position as sith emperor. Examples of this are maul and savage, and helmet vader. However, sidious was seemingly excited af to have a full potential anakin take over, same with luke when it appeared that luke could be swayed to the dark side. Basically, he was a staunch believer in the sith rule of 2, and as long he or some dark sider greater than him was leading the sith he didn't care. Sidious was all about advancing the sith empire, not just himself. Vitiate on the other hand was motivated purely for his own selfish goal of becoming immortal and living to the end of the current universe and beyond.

    The jedi and sith are so similar in terms of not letting emotions stop them from gaining more power but the difference how they ise the power and in this case anakin was bad at using his power to its full potential on both sides because of his emotions so its kind of funny that anakin is used as a device to show us the light and dark is the same(this is what im thinking the writers are trying to teach)

    • @96smittyjr

      I actually really love the concept of how close the Jedi and Sith are in their ideologies. It’s something have always said that The Jedi preach not having attachments, and yet they’re strongest attachment is the Padawan and master yet if you want to see true detachment look no further than hell the Sith operate with master apprentice. Yes, in many cases, especially some of the earlier rule of two there is a stronger bond between them very much akin to the master and Padawan in the Jedi but as the set apprentice gets older and grows in their power, they become more detached as opposed to attached to their master like the Jedi Padawan.

    "You failed to see what was right before your eyes. Darth Nul was no Child of the Emperor. She was the first. The Mother of them all. Darth Nul created the Children of the Emperor. She hunted the quarry, broke them. Indoctrinated them. His power, his will, but her methods, her inventions… until the Emperor no longer found her useful"
    Malgus regarding the former jedi master Raniah turned sith lord Darth Nul who had a unique ability to form mental connections to other force sensitives across the galaxy, she believed that anyone who could feel the Force deserved to be trained in its use and alongside her follower were expelled from the order due to her ideas being deemed dangerous, unfortunately she mistakenly made contact with Vitiate who sent his forces to pursue her and bring her to him where he eventully turned her.

    I think that your points on Vader’s power and focus were really interesting. I always knew that internal conflict weakened a Jedi’s connection to the Light Side, but lately I’ve begun to feel that there is actually a set of mindsets (and maybe emotions) that dampen one’s overall connection to the Force, regardless of alignment.

    The true reason for the ceasefire was to advance Vitiate’s ultimate plan. His real goal was to replicate the ritual of Nathema on a galactic scale. The war was always a vehicle for accomplishing that. So when the war effort began to stagnate and then drain resources away from his real plans, Vitiate switched tactics. He brokered an advantageous truce that allowed him to consolidate and get closer to his goals. That’s the big reason Malgus went rogue. He realized that the Empire was all just a sham to feed Vitiate’s ambitions for godhood.

    Do we think Sidious knew what happened to Darth Malgus' wife? Because if Vader says he couldn't find the info on her fate, it would have had to be because Sidious didn't give him that knowledge. Which would be the antithesis to what he was trying to do by giving Vader his journals

    I love this new format for y’all. It is oddly refreshing. I know I mentioned doing a similar analysis video to Cus like y’all did for Yoda and I do truly look forward to that. Another interesting video that y’all might consider doing is possibly comparing the views of, Qui Gon and Obi-Wan regarding the Jedi and the force. Because Obi-Wan is much more loyal to the Jedi order whereas Qui Gon was much more loyal to the will of the force. it would be neat to look at how, especially after the clone wars we see e-become a lot more dejected, and it takes the events of the Obi-Wan show (regardless of views or opinions on that show) to regain a love for the Jedi and the force, yet still be completely opposed to the idea of Anakin being the chosen one. I think back to the scene and reels where Darth Maul is talking to Obi-Wan and they both think that Luke is the chosen one and even up to return, Obi-Wan does not believe that Vader will ever turn back from the dark side.

    Vader would never become like Malgus for the simple fact that their experiences were completely different. Malgus, when push came to shove, Malgus was able to what was necessary as Vader was not that's the gulf that's separates Vader from reaching that point and going beyond that point and further.

  • @TheFireHawk7
    @TheFireHawk7 Před 6 měsíci +1

    I always took the concept that losing a limb caused a loss of power was ridiculous. Why? Because of Mortis. The Ones never paid any attention to his cybernetic arm, his dominant arm, and on Mortis he performed his greatest feats. Likewise, Palpatine never considered that arm a limitation. Now, his injuries on Mustafar diminished him... but I think that a lot of his power was directed to keeping himself alive and mobile and functional. The focus and mindset angle, that's also important - he spends a long time drifting until he realises he has a living child.
    As for Palpatine, I always wondered why he was so bullshit powerful, so much of an outlier without being the Chosen One/related to the Chosen One, or a mix of Light and Dark in the way that Revan was, or a world-eater like Nihilus and Vitiate. I think he was essentially a Meetra Surik gone rotten, naturally very powerful, but far more so by feeding on others on a vast scale; it fits thematically with his politician persona, his role as Emperor, his proclamations recently about how the hate of others feeds him... because it literally does. Hell, it fits with Byss, where he's doing literally exactly that.

    Ont tho my about the Endor Vader Luke talk. Study the words Vader uses and what Luke says. Also read the comic where Vader learned about Luke from fett and goes to watch Padme’s death recording, her last words “there is still good in him” Vader heard that. Then when he talks to Luke on Endor Luke says “father I feel the good in you, let go of your hate” Vader not wanting to hear the exact words Padme said in her final breath changes the conversation. In psychology this is a known thing when someone his feeling lots of emotions but can’t process or doesn’t want to process them and has gotten used to pushing things down try to change a subject. Vader does this to a T. He changes and asks about the lightsaber, which is another rabbit hole once he puts it together that it looks like Obi’s 😢. Then they leave. It’s my favorite scene in all of filmmaking, and the comic where Vader here’s those words make it so powerful. They didn’t know then in the 80s to do it but Vader pausing and then changing the conversation make me think Vader is thinking about Padme and seeing her through his son and he doesn’t want to because he’s about to sacrifice Luke.

    Malgus seems like very interesting character. He was a warrior. True warrior. He respected dark side,had enourmous success as military commander. He was extremely intelligent and capable. This is based on what i know watching your videos,listening to you all these years. I believe how much he hated bickering,behind back politics,weaklings and traitors in politics. We have those problems in our world too. He wanted complete win. You have to respect it. Despite dark side. Your comment of him conquering and looting Coruscant reminds me of Messi when he won World Cup. He worked so much for it. To add this😊Vader wasn't really fighting Luke on Death Star. He was going through emotions I agree. He was completely in conflict. When they're speaking on Endor you feel Vader's love towards Luke. And softness. Vader was full of pride towards Luke when he took his lightsaber. He complimented him. Very emotional, powerful moment. I liked it😊Watched for 16 mins. Then went to five mins to the end,curiosity. Yes, I think Vader is failed Malgus. Your next topic could be Yoda. Was he good or bad Master? I think he was good in general. Very good. He had his flaws,but the grew,learned from his mistakes. He saw what happened with Anakin,he sees what's happening with Luke. Beru says Luke is alot like Anakin. Luke becomes so much more like Padme later. Leila was always more like Anakin😀May the Force be with you too

    I never quite understood why Sidious didn't seem to give a kriff who lived and who died at the climax of Episode VI. But honestly, if Luke had merc'd Vader, new impressionable youthful apprentice. If Vader nerfs his boy, that would have proven his true allegiance to the Dark Side, as Malgus had.

    • @klue507

      Most of his story is in the game; however, there is a short story called “The third lesson”, that takes place an hour or two after the fight against Satele Shan and Jace Malcom in the cinematic trailer. There is also “The Book Of Sith” which has some pages of malgus’ war journal. The Book Of Sith is what links Darth Malgus to Vader and Sidious. The other book I can think of is, “The Old Republic encyclopedia” (well worth a look). I think the encyclopedia has things like the journal of Jedi Maser Gnost Dural, which contains insights of Satele Shan towards Darth Malgus, such as, her fear of Malgus and his power. You probably already also know of the 4 cinematic trailers and carbonate teaser trailer. There are a few videos on CZcams that cover most of the in game stuff along with everything else. Kind of like a malgus life summary. Lastly, currently waiting on the conclusion to Malgus’ story in game.

I think that’s what it’s called, I don’t actually play the game either, I do like malgus enough to hunt down his material though. Anyways his story is still current, I think the latest game up date was about Shae Visla and her nemesis. Shae visla is the mandalorian lady helping malgus and the Sith sac the Jedi temple in the cinematic trailer.I think I heard the conclusion to malgus’ stor will be early next year.

    This is great, I love Malgus and his Lore and Sidious admiration of him. I agree with your assertion on Sidious's feelings towards Anakin/Vader, they was definitely those of a proud creator towards their creation and him seeing Vader not able to get over the "Wall" and embrace the Dark Side fully was the final star for him to look to replace Vader. I think Sidious would be more skilled in utilizing the Force than Vader overall which would keep him ahead of him, even if Vader fully embraced the Darkside.
    Honestly, I don't think the Empire could function with Darth Vader in control he doesn't feel like the type who could handle it at the top.
    I hope you do a Marka Ragnos Analysis, he's one of my all time favorite Sith Lord's.

    • @OctopusWithNoFriends
      @OctopusWithNoFriends Před 6 měsíci

      It's kinda a balancing act: it forces the Master to be as strong as they possibly can, otherwise they'll be immediately overthrown, while provoking their apprentice to do the same, or be replaced with one more powerful if they never reach a level above their Master.

    Malgus been a terrible rule of 2 era Sith Lord. He doesn’t adhere to secrecy treachery or patience he would loudly establish himself the first chance he got. As far as his relationship with Palpatine it would go one of 2 ways Palps kills Malgus or Malgus kills Palps he would never submit long enough to be an apprentice. He is a warrior juggernaut that follows his own will.

    Palp tricked Anakin/Vader. Palp sold him that he could save Padme from death, that was the main reason Anakin turned to the dark side. And after that happened, Obi Wan beat him, Padme died because of a broken heart.
    Afterwards, Palp told him to get over it and learn from Malgus. Vader was like, "F U! I'll do what I want and keep grieving"

    I agree part of what makes Palpi such a dangerous sith is that he has a vision without end
    but i disagree that palpatine cared about the dark side
    I think Palp only valued personal gain and the dark side served that purpose
    I feel like palp would have prefered malgus only because he was easily manipulated in how single minded and careless he was
    Because vader was conflicted he was more difficult to manipulate
