If you have thin gums or gum recession, you have to be extra careful when brushing your teeth. On the other hand if you have swollen or excess gum tissue, then you should brush your teeth more aggressively to bring down the swollen gums.

A lot of people aren’t appreciating what he said at the end: brushing your teeth is one of those things where you should strictly follow the rules of. More than twice a day or more than -two- four minutes a day is actually worse than just twice a day or more than two minutes, and brushing hard is worse than brushing soft/medium strength.

I dont know if you will see this doctor but I wanted to thank you for this. I came from a home where i was neglected and abused, and i had no idea how to brush my teeth as i had never in the first 18 yrs of my life done so, and my mother would refuse to buy me a toothbrush or anything else.
When i finally got health insurance at 19 and went to a dentist i asked her if she could show me how i was supposed to brush and she got very angry at me and was very rude saying why should she bother because i clearly made no attempt to take care of myself, and called me disgusting. Then told me i was degrading her by asking her to brush my teeth (which i didnt, i just asked her to show me in anyway how to do it right as i really had no idea), and that i wasnt welcome there anymore. She had me escorted out by the staff. I was already embarrassed about my teeth and she utterly humiliated me and shamed me. I didnt go to any dentist after that for 12 years.
I wish i had had something like this back then. And just wanted to thank you for doing this video, it will definitely help others who are in the same situation i was and you are so kind about it. So thank you❤

My mum told me when I was 4 you will only get one set of teeth after your baby teeth and they’re for life the same teeth you have at 10 will be the teeth you have at 100.
You brush your teeth by making little circles over each tooth and each face of the tooth.
I have never had even a cavity. I don’t floss and I don’t use mouthwash regularly I got to the de tier wvery 7 years and every single time I see a dentist they say my teeth look like they haven’t been cleaned in a year not 7.

i’d recommend not to brush more than 2-3 times a day tbh. i’m not a dentist but i do have experience with what dentists told me bc i have very bad teeth so i’m on the journey.
brush for 2 minutes in the morning.
brush for 2 minutes before bed.
but if you’re a person who eats lots of junk food and sweets like me, you can brush in the morning, evening, and night. or whenever you have junk food then atleast use some mouth wash or rinse your mouth out with warm water.
brushing more than like 3 times a day can damage your enamel which is the protective barrier of your teeth, and over brushing and brushing way too roughly can damage it which *will* cause harm
this also goes for mouthwash, the same applies. if you overuse mouthwash that can also damage the enamel which you don’t want to happen. so if you’re only brushing twice a day that’s fine

Brush your teeth and floss kids. Find a dentist you are comfortable with and go once per year for a cleaning and checkup. Over the past year I had to have ALL of my teeth extracted, 4 implant posts put in and full dentures made to lock to the implant posts. It’s costed me close to $18,000 after it was all said and done and I went through insane amounts of pain. Horrendous pain that controlled substance pain medicine didn’t eliminate. I dipped Copenhagen Snuff for close to 30 years, had very poor dental hygiene and rarely went to the dentist due to fear and a general disinterest. I feel better now and have a nice smile but I’d rather have my natural teeth. They are long gone. It’s very negative on a person psychologically to lose all your teeth. Don’t be stupid like me.

Is brushing once everyday ok? I have been told by my dentist based on her observation that I brush good, and I have minimal to none build up. But I have been brushing once every day every morning, for all my life. Why do people suggest to brush twice a day? I use mouth wash at night after dinner, and while brushing, I also brush my toung and if I have anything in my belly, I tend to get gag reflexes.

*i watched hundreds of patients enter and leave a orthodontist office as a teenager and youd be in disbelief how many kids have their gums grow over their braces, and some even smoked cigarettes.* though most gum loss seems to be from smoking cigarettes.

Ok I'll have to figure out how exactly to do that
Do you do any circles just pointed away from the gums? Or just brush as you showed? Im autistic and have difficulty interpreting instructions and with copying others movements/following tutorials that have a strong motor element like this.
Oh also how much pressure is too much pressure? If i could have a physical analogy that would be very helpful (analogies like "you should use the same amount of pressure as the minimum it takes to do [x thing]")
Is it possible my gum reccession is from infrequent/inconsistent brushing?

Gum recession can be caused by not flossing/brushing as well, you should floss once a day.

I also brush my teeth once a day before bed. Some exceptions apply but I don't see the need to do it more often. I floss once or twice a day (because I have big gum pockets where food gets stuck) and I scrape my tongue daily as well, the tongue is horribly disgusting lol. I don't understand the stigma people face when they say they only brush once a day.

If you aren't using an electric tooth brush by now you're really missing out. Haven't had a cavity in 15 years since I started using one.
